In what way does your game fit the theme?
You literally rewind the time in order to solve the puzzles

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes! Kind of... I used probuilder to make the levels. Does that count as from scratch?

Really interesting first person platformer puzzle! I managed to complete all levels. Some comments:

  • Nice implementation of the rewind mechanic. Together with the lever mechanic, it makes the player think about which lever to stop from rewinding & when to rewind.
  • I'm not sure why there is no "restart level" function. while in the middle of the game, I was worried that i would  get stuck, & may not be able to rewind >30 sec to the starting position to start the puzzle again. I encountered this in the 1st level, where i fell down the pit, and was figuring things out, and realised that I am not able to get out of the pits in anyway even after rewinding (because i was stuck down there for >30 secs). Did not get stuck in the later levels though.
Developer

Thank you for the feedback! That is a definite problem. Many people have said that it would be great to have a restart level option. I guessI just kinda hoped people would use the rewind mechanic more often so that you don't actually have to spend any more than 30 seconds in any given level, but a restart option would definitely be useful, that's for sure.

Thanks for the feedback again

I liked the puzzle, although at points it felt a lot more like a parkour game than a puzzle game. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but if you press the rewind button after dying, you can cancel the death rewind and start where you died from without going back to the start. The colors made it clear what all the objects did, although the bloom is a little too much for me. It's fairly quiet, which I don't mind, and the sound effects are used well. Overall, good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, most of what you said was intentional. It's a parkour puzzle game... A jumping puzzle... Juzzle... yeah.

About the rewinding bit after dying, I'm not actually sure if it's really all that useful but idk.

I really like how the majority of the puzzles are designed so they can be solved without holding the player's hand in any sort of way. It  helps having some of the notable objects color coded in a neon fashion which really contrasts with the plain white walls; that is a great design choice.

The rewind effect showing all the player's movements is also really cool, but it is a bit too slow if I wanted to rewind all the way back. Perhaps the rewind could be controlled with the number key inputs so the player could have the option to either rewind slowly or quickly.

Unfortunately, I ended up getting stuck at the level where the lava blocks come down. I didn't figure out that I was supposed to close the doors, lock it in place, and rewind back until it was too late to rewind back. Perhaps after the player makes it to each checkpoint, they can have the option to restart from that point in case something like this happens?

I'm also not particularly a fan of the lava sending the player 30 seconds back. I would have preferred if the lava burnt me into a crisp and not allow me to move since I'm dead, with the option to rewind yourself back to the state where you were alive.

It's not too often that you get to see a first-person puzzle game that allows you to rewind time. I'm hoping you can continue on with this project in the future.

Thank you for this very elaborated feedback!

I have learnt a lot from different places on how to make sure the player knows exactly what to do withought having to tell them what to do since the player can clearly figure it out themselves. Very very useful bit of knowledge that I have learnt to use in my games.

Some people have said that the rewind is a little slow, so if I were to complete this game (who knows, maybe I would have the time to do so, but with the possibility of Uni and all sorts of other things happening, it might seem unlikely), then I would definitely take this option into consideration.

This kind of problem is something I did not forsee. That is a very much valid solution to this problem, thank you for this suggestion.

The lava sending you backwards in time can be counteracted by manually rewinding and stopping the rewind, which I agree myself, a badly designed feature. Since I didn't think it would cause that much of a problem I just kept it as it is, but giving the player the option to rewind back to the point where the person was alive is very neat indeed. Thank you very much for that!

Thank you very much for the feedback once again :)

Very fun! Got a big Portal vibe from the game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Indeed it was heavily inspired by Portal in some places and I'm glad you enjoyed the game

Loved this portal-esque styled puzzler. The neon colors and the levels were well placed. I love puzzle games and would love to see a finished product! Great use of the rewind mechanic as well!

Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Portal really did serve as quite a bit of inspiration for me. I'm happy to see that you're excited to see this as a finished product :)

There was no option to change the sensitivity so it was really hard for me to play :( but the game was pretty cool anyway.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't have much time near the end to add a menu so most of the UI was pretty much made last minute. I'm glad you enjoyed the game however.

Portal esque puzzle game, nice.

How to solve the third section after the lava pit? doesnt seem possible, or am i missing something.

Making the jump from the lift to the blue platform seems impossible, the other few ledges dont seem to let me get to the switch either.

The game has good graphics, sounds but the player movement feels too snappy and difficult to control.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! You can Shift to sprint in the game. Should help you out there :)

Visuals was very nice and I like the simplistic styles of using pro builder and the neon colors. Reminds me a bit of Portal. A bit confusing at first but got the hang of it. Nice work. Check out our game when you get the chance!

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback! I did get the inspiration from portal and Karlson (a game made by Dani - a cool youtuber - should definitely check him out) especially with the level transition.

I am planning on trrying to stream some games today but it's so hot here and I really hope my pc will handle it. Do join in on my YouTube channel if I'll be streaming!

Very clean visuals, Puzzles where fairly clear and the rewind mechanic really shines with how it gets used! Great work all around!

Thank you for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed my game

Nice game! I like the visuals and the puzzles, especially the part where the red rocks are falling down and you have to lock the lever in place and rewind then. However the noises are very annoying and the platforms jitter a little. Also,  I couldn't progress at one point, where the level splits up in two rooms, I don't know what I'm supposed to do there.
Other than that, very cool game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed that level. The noises are a little annoying at that point, yeah, and the platforms were a pain to make them work smoothly.

Hint: look at the blue walls that split the two sides of the level ;)

A very nice game! The seamless level switch animation is amazing, and the checkpoint sound made me laugh a lot! I would say the movement needs a little bit of inertia & smoothness. Great job!

(btw check my game & rate if you like shooters)

Thank you so much for playing my game! Really glad you enjoyed it :D

I did spend quite a bit of time working on the level transition so I'm happy you liked it. The controller was really quite experimental since I tried using the character controller built in Unity, but thanks for the feedback!

Nice puzzle, I like the visual style and music. Rewind mechanic is implemented well.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! I think it was time spent well to start off with the cool visuals :D

The game was nice! I got stuck into the first level for a long time because I jumped off the platform and let more than 30 seconds pass by, and then I basically had to manually quit and restart the game. Otherwise, it was interesting!

Nice game, took me some time to understand but I really like the rewind effect. Audio is really nice too.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I did spend quite a bit of time getting the audio but I forgot to add some music in (like I always do lol)

The noises you chose were very... noisy... And the rewind was painfully slow. The moving platforms were also a bit jittery. Besides that, pretty much what you'd expect from a jumping puzzle.

Developer

Thank you very much for playing! I did speed up the rewind to be twice as fast but I guess it wasn't fast enough. Yeah, I struggled hard to get the platforms working smoothly with the character controller but it just doesn't want to do it. Thanks overall :)
