Ranked from 30 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
A few ways:

- There is a rewind time mechanic in the 3rd level
- The goal of each level is to rewind an audio cassette by clicking on pencils (ya know, how we used to do it "back in the day")
- The aesthetic of the game itself from graphic themes & music is a nostalgic rewind to the 80's

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote a bunch of the core game play bits such as:
- Game Manager which handles clickable object spawning, pooling, progress, states, etc (it quickly turned into a beast of a script)
- Menu button actions & scene transition logic/timing
- Tape Deck button actions and unlock logic

With the exception of the Rewind ability icon, all assets were gathered either from the Unity Asset store or free assets available online (such as the clickable object models)

Though they are royalty free, I want to give credit where credit is due:

Music by Maximilien Gabillard
Visual Effects: Retro Aesthetics by Dustyroom

I couldn't seem to get past the first level. After it said level complete, the 'Next Level' button wouldn't work. I like the graphics and audio a lot, but that is all i feel comfortable rating without more info.

You need to single click menu items.  Double clicking them will stack up next level async loads and mess things up.  Please give it another go if you have time.

I liked the game it was super cool

I enjoyed playing your game. Some feedbacks:

  • It has some good VFX. Combined with the music, it definitely has some good retro feel
  • Gameplay feels similar to duck hunt mechanic, where you wait for something to appear on the screen & you use your reflexes to hit it.
    •  In the 1st level, all the pencils fall directly from above, and i was too quick for me to aim at them. The 2nd & 3rd level was better, where the items are thrown from below.
    • I don't think that there is any mechanic that give you the urgency to hit them though, felt like I can just take my time.
  • Nice that several things in the game relate to the theme.

Thank you for letting me play this game!

Do play & rate mine too if you can :)

The gameplay could be abit frustrating but overall I liked it!

Such a crazy ride. Love the mix of VHS aesthetic, scene transitions, and 80s audio clips. You've got to share how you created to VHS and CRT post-processing. It really added to the feel. I felt the best part of the game was enjoying the loading screens and music changes. Crazy, I know. But still.... sigh.

Glad you liked it ^_^  The effects I used were Retro Aesthetics from the Unity Asset store.

It's a secret to everybody!

I do love the vaporwave and the bright graphics making me feel like I'm in the 1980's! Though, there are some things you need to work on, like the menu navigation. Maybe it's me, but I seem to have trouble starting the game and going into the next levels. Other than that, great job!

sometimes next level didnt work for me and had to re-open the game(5 times) glad u added a save system so the crashes wasnt a big deal at all, great use of the theme, the astunishing visuals and amusing music fits very well with everything createing a well made sense of inmersion, gamelay was kinda weird coulndt get the handle of it very well but was very entertaining and fun to watch the physics of the props and just enjoy the visuals and music, Great job!

It seems I have a bug where I don't disable clicking after the first click of a menu item.  Some ppl have been double clicking them and that's causing an async loading issue.  Single clicking is should work fine but it's my fault for not disabling clicking after the first click :(

The gameplay is really simple but it's execution is amazing. Love the graphics! 10/10 nice rickroll - IGN

That's a fun game. I love the aesthetics and the retro effect you used.

I have some suggestions too:
-Add some sort of effect for when you click on pencils (maybe trigger some animation on the cassette too)
-Make some different pencils that are worth more and move faster.

Great work!
