In what way does your game fit the theme?
Your girlfriend has been brutally murdered by the enemy. Stricken by grief, you travel back in time to wield terrible revenge on the enemy's home planet, Ebos. You'll only rest when their whole civilization is destroyed. HAHAHAHAHA.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I used the godot engine for the first time and write all of the code myself from scratch with help of forums. I have not made most of the assets.

I absolutely loved the music and the whole aesthetics, it looks to me like some kind of 80-90's action movie (or even Contra!).

I have some suggestions on improvements, if you don't mind:

  • There are a lot of places where you as the player jump down or just walk straight forward and then suddenly an enemy projectile appears, killing you. Especially, I was stuck on the level where you fall down and there is this guy with a laucher to your left. I guess it was level 3. I fell like 10 times on his projectile just because I didn't see it. My point here is this - making enemies attack the player when this enemy is offscreen is often unfair, especially when the player is too far away from an enemy to kill him;
  • I had some trouble with platforming. The controls seemed unresponsive. My brain thinks that I pressed the jump button just in time to jump, but the game doesn't register the jump, because technically the character has already passed the edge of the platform, so he has to fall. You may add sime 'coyote time' just to make sure the game is comfortable (unless you want it to be hardcore, which is tottaly fine);
  • I don't know if it is a bug or it was intentional, but if I kill an enemy and then die myself, then this enemy wouldn't spawn again.

Anyway, I had fun playing your game!

P.S. Would be glad if you tried my game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723006 . Thanks!

Love the feedback, your game has amazing music. (Your last point is not a bug.)

Nice Game, though often whan I dropped down an enemy shot before i touched the ground.

Sprite quality and animations are superbe. The background in the first chapter would look amazing with some paralax. Shooting is really satisfying.

A lot of the enemies fire their projectiles too high for you to shoot down, but too low for you to duck under. In combination with the high projectile speed, and their ability to shoot you off screen, I feel like enemies are bit more dangerous than they need to be.

I feel like the platforms in the earlier jungle sequence could be more evenly spaced to help learn the timings / distance on jumps better. Theres also a leap of faith one where you have to jump onto a small platform, but doing so moves the platform out of your field of fiew, and with no other objects on screen at that point, it makes it really difficult to gage whether you're going to overshoot or not.

Nice game, easy to play

I really like the concept of this game. Adding more enemies would be nice as the combat was the most fun part. I'd really appreciate if you could also rate my game!

The audio and visuals are nice, I think that being able to crouch or aim diagonally could help with quality of life against enemies! Nice job on the submission!

I like the game, only think that you have to change it when you go down some enemies are already shooting and you cannot protect yourself.. Good job

My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks

Reminds me of an old NES game :)

I don't think the controls fit this style of game. If you have the player shoot with the mouse, you should really point their gun towards the mouse's position. I'm also not sure how the theme is incorporated into the game. Otherwise, your graphics and audio are fantastic and the game feels responsive!

I don't think it f fit the theme. My opinion, "Rewind" should be a path of game play, not the plot. And the game is the way to hard, sometime I lose control the character and felt.
And, I think the way you design the map should be more clearly, since I being killed by enemies who was hidden in the foot of the cliff.

Anyway, congratulation on completing you game

Nice art and music, but also kind of feels a bit cheep at with enemy placement.

Quite frustrating sometimes, but definitely has it's atmosphere. Btw, jumping after you die is fun :)

The game is very difficult and frustrating (getting hit by an enemy shooting while I am falling to the ground) but audio and graphics were really good!
