How does the game fit the theme?
I thought it would be funny if you were risking it for a LITERAL biscuit. To add an extra layer of irony, I used the American meaning of the word biscuit (totally not biased!) The risk is that you have to restart the entire game if you die (also makes it seem like there's more to the game than there is when you have to replay it a hundred times and this is really short and unfinished LOL)
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Tiny 5 font by Stefan Schmidt via Google Fonts. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Tiny5
The sound effects for attacking and hitting were recorded by me for another project that I haven't released yet (but I did edit the hit sound to have less bass)

The art style is really cute, good effort! We liked being able to change out the weapons as we went along but weren't entirely sure (in game play) if they made a difference in combat - this is however explained in your game pages description. Also, we initially thought all utensils would pose a risk, eventually we dropped our guard before we were wiped out by a rolling pin. Character designs were really fun, good work :)
Thanks! The spoon is basically a better version of the rolling pin, but the other weapons that do more damage are slower, so it depends on your playstyle if you choose to use them. The giant rolling pins get a lot of people, even myself when I forgot it was there while testing lol...
You did this solo with all the art too? Very impressive!
I got towards the end of level 3, died, and had to start from the very beginning. This made me sad.
Otherwise, really well executed game, I enjoyed it.
Thanks! I started with the art and part of the reason I continued was mostly just to show it off lol. I plan to update the game later to save which levels you've completed so you only have to beat them once, but I only had time for 4 levels and I didn't have time to implement any kind of progress saving.
That was a fun little pixel hack-and-slasher. I kicked some broccoli ass and then got my ass handed to me by a carrot, what's not to love? The aesthetics and level design are really good for a 7-day jam game, great work!
Thank you!
cool game, very polished, the characters are very cute, everything looks very good together!
cute visuals and good audio, i do wish there was more depth to the gameplay other than spamming the button to attack.
Haha this is an adorable game and really fun too. I like how you effectively mash the attack button until your vegetable foes are all dead (at least that was my strategy). I hadn't read the description at first so I wasn't too sure what the difference in weapons was or exactly what some of the power ups were doing, maybe you could add some UI popups or something to make this a bit clearer? Either way I absolutely love the aesthetic and the theme, well done!
Thanks! If you get an idea of how to time your attacks, you can kill enemies easier while taking less damage, but I usually just lose my rythm and start spam clicking (I find it easier than spacebar) lol. I do plan to actually add a real tutorial after the jam is over, I just didn't have time.
Fun little game, I enjoyed it and enjoyed the timing based combat. The carrots frove me wild. Very annoying. Are you meant to be able to up other weapons? I didn't work that out - which maybe made it harder than it was meant to be! All in all very good work :)
Thanks, to pick up weapons, you stand on the weapon and press E!
Being smacked up by a carrot has never been so much fun. Solid little game that can be a challenge if you don't figure out the timing of attacks quickly. Also cute little cookie. Very nice.
Felt good if you got the right rythm to dotch every attack :)
The carrots were the hardest for me lol, even using the other weapons, really well done
Thanks! If you get a good rythm, you can kill a carrot without taking any damage, but it's difficult to get right and I usually just ended up spam clicking trying not to die lol
Cute little game! I’m not sure if it’s possible to pick up weapons dropped by enemies, that would have been a nice addition. Otherwise, really great!
Thanks, you press E while standing on a weapon dropped by an enemy to pick it up
