Ay, a fellow ant-army management RTS game! Enchanté!
Fun gameplay! Kinda wish there were more ways to complete a level to give more freedom / decision-making to the player (I lost at level 5 because I was having too much fun making the ants go in circles so the next levels might be more advanced, in which case ignore this feedback!)

Had a lot of fun messing around with the ant pheromone system (if that's what it is), but I found it slightly frustrating that ants would go back to the colony if nothing happened along their way to the end of the path - especially in the level where there are multiple walls in a wall - the builder ants leave each time they destroy a wall.

Overall had a bunch of fun, rating this highly!

Ant game makers unite!

Thanks for the feedback - you're so right. I'd like to have done more with the level design, but I didn't budget enough time to get them right. I think there's definitely some tweaks I could have made to their trail following behaviour that would have made more sense.

Thank you so much for playing and your great feedback!

the best game  i played in this jam , unique idea  i loved  The voice acting it was funny

well done dev could you try my game <3

Developer

That's big praise, thank you so much.

And yes of course I'll check yours out, I play the games of every commentor I receive, it's just polite :)

Very creative game. I really like how it feels like we're kids playing with ants to see what they'll do. Having a voice over was a nice surprise too. I think its the first game in the jam I've seen with that.

Developer

ha that's a nice take on the game. A lot of people have commented on the voice acting, I'm so glad to have done it, I think it adds a little something to the otherwise boring process of learning how the game works.

Thank you for playing and your kind feedback

Was easy to pick up, and was created at a high quallity, I would definately play a larger scale version of this if you chose to take it further! Well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Nicely done in 7 days by a solo dev! Very good tutorial level too - no ambiguity about how to play the game here. Had some good variety in game play. A bit weak on the theme perhaps but I liked overall. Good job and good luck in the jam

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Yes I really struggled with the theme. I actually spent 2 days on a totally different idea but it wasn't fun at all, so I switched over to the idea that ants will risk their lives to get a biscuit. It was a tricky theme to be honest. The fact I then substituted biscuit for cookie in the game's title was a bit stupid on my part, especially since I'm British and so it is a biscuit!

This is incredibly innovative. I could see it having the potential to really scratch a Pikmin-esque itch, possibly even on a touchscreen. Needless to say, the polish is impressive considering the time frame. Loved all the little animations on the credits screen.

I saw you mentioning wishing you had more levels, but I thought "surely this is the last level" multiple times. Anyway, you've got a great eye for design, keep up the awesome work!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I had more ideas for simpler levels to begin introducing the player to different ideas, and some more puzzle type levels, but you're probably right, I managed a solid number and it is a game jam, I should give myself a bit of a break on that.

You can also see I utterly scrambled when it came to the title screen, spent too long making the funky disco credit screen :)

This is my favorite game on this jam!! I've never seen such mechanics... but there is something nostalgic about it, as if I was playing some kind of game from a CD again as a child!!

The voice acting of the ant queen is my favorite thing in this game!! in general, I liked everything from the visual to the gameplay

but at the very first level, all my 11 ants stood on a huge cookie where 30 ants are needed.... :((

Developer

If you get all the food first, you should end up with 30 ants on the first level. I wish I had more time for levels, as I would have eased the player in a bit more, that first level is very long and quite dull tbh

Thank you so much for the kind words, I was so happy to read your comment!

Hey! interesting game, I love when people is exploring new mechanics and unique ones attack a common challenge. How did you create the voices though? is like a loquendo?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

I got my friend to do the voice acting, then pitched it in audacity up to make it sound more ant-like :)

Great Work , With a Little Bit of More Polishing , The Game Would Become More Solid :)

Developer

Thank you! If only there was more time, there's so much more I wanted to do

Submitted(+1)

I had a problem with the camera being stuck upwards. I could only fix it by restarting.

Except for that, the voiceover is always great, and the game has a cool, chill vibe.

Developer(+1)

Oh that's odd, not spotted that one before. Glad it worked after the ol' switch it off and on again.

Thank you for playing

Interesting concept, I felt like this would be a good game for kids / education. Would like for the speed-up button to be a toggle - sometimes I felt like I'd solved the level but still had to wait for the ants to catch up.

Developer

I agree, a toggle would have been much better!

Thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

This is a wonderful concept, and well executed! The speed of the ants is perfect - if it was any slower I think the game would get tedious quickly, but it seems like you did a solid amount of testing. The art & sound all fits very well, and as others have mentioned I love the voiced tutorial. This is definitely a game worth expanding upon in the future!

Developer

Thank you so much!

I think depending on feedback overall for the jam, I may indeed expand on the game in the future

Submitted(+1)

Ah I couldn't get past the tutorial. It doesn't seem to register my ant trying to go to the bottom of the screen to proceed! It looks nice though, and I like how you can control the walking path of the ant!

Developer

Did you follow the instructions the queen ant tells you? You have to do as she says and she'll move on to the next step :)

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the idea of having the 3 different ant types — collector, builder, and fighter. Each one had a clear role and it was fun to see how they worked together to get the cookie.

Developer

Thank you! I wish I had more time to make levels where you use them in more interesting and synergistic ways

Submitted(+1)

Wow, this was a lot of work for 1 week, well done! I loved growing my colony, and having the different pheromone trails for each type was very clever. Loved the voice acting too. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for playing. I managed to cram a lot in the week - I only wish I managed my time better and prioritised level design over some of the polish.

Submitted(+1)

im really sad I think some of the Ui was getting cut off for me and I was not able to finish the tutorial even when I went into full screen. The game looks really fun and impressive, you even did voice acting for it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying. The UI only works in 16:9 screen formats; I very much regret not learning the UI system properly while making this to ensure it scaled for every screen aspect

Submitted(+1)

Really excellent work, especially in such a short time window! This felt so well fleshed out, and the voice-acted tutorial was such a nice extra touch. Would love some smaller level design to keep the pace up, maybe with more directions/obstacles for builder ants. Overall, fantastic job.

Developer(+1)

Totally agree, I ran out of time for levels, so even though I made all this effort on an engine and fleshed out tutorial, I ended up with some not ideal levels. Next time I think I'll prioritise fun levels over some of the polish.

Thank you for playing

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely amazing. To think you were able to make game that is this good with tutorial included in just one week makes me jealous but it also motivates me to aim higher next time :D

Developer

Your comment made my day. Thank you for your kind words. I'm very glad you liked it

Submitted(+1)

Great job! Making a pikmin style game for a jam seems ambitious, and the fact you managed to sneak in a detailed tutorial is really impressive. I ran into a bug or two with the ants pathing, but overall had a great time.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

Yes I bit off a little more than I could chew on this one. I really wanted to have a nice walk through tutorial so people could understand it easier, but then I ran out of time to make exciting levels. A lesson for next jam perhaps

Submitted(+1)

I love this so much, even the in depth tutorial. You did a lot in a short time. Sadly i am running into some aspect ratio issues, it automatically goes into full screen and i cannot select certain menu buttons (i did not let that influence the rating i am giving tho)

Developer

Ah yeah, it's designed for 16:9 only. I regret that decision and should have made it work for any aspect ratio; but you know, time constraints and my lack of experience with UI :)

Thanks so much for playing
