How does the game fit the theme?
Greed is the most rewarding play style but may lead to ruin. Risk it for more cheddar! SQUEAK! SQUEAK!
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Most kitchen models are free in the unity asset store, the rat is not. Everything else is custom made in Blender/GIMP.
Music is made in-house but contains licensed drum samples. Should be fine to play on youtube though.

This is absolutely brilliant. I love it. The idea of being a rat that runs out of its mouse hole to steal cheese then has to get back to his mouse hole before I assume the humans get back and catch him is an awesome idea. And the cheese will weigh the rat down so you have to be strategic in which ones you get? That is a nice touch. This game has so many possibilities for expansions too like unlocking the other rooms of the house. If they were laid out like how the creator of Tinykin made his levels it would be a lot of fun. Or look at the Supraland series. Those have a lot of creativity in their level layout.
Critiques:
- I don't like the camera. It's too quick when you look around. But it does make for a nice action rat cam.
- The cheese should carry over from round to round. I went out the hole and forgot to buy only to find out my cheese reset. Sad Face. It's more an issue in the beginning cuz you do put enough cheese for everything in the shop. But its harder to collect everything in the beginning and easier to just collect what you need so keeping an inventory would be helpful.
- The lives should be what keeps your run going. Otherwise I am not sure what they are for since you lose all progress if the timer runs out and 1 life. Edit - O yall have fall damage. Ok the lives are also a health system. Gotcha. I would have 2 separate systems. I have the same issue with Repo. Where I collect all these power ups only to die to something dumb and lose everything. One time I jumped off a ledge, landed on the corner of a chair in the art museum level to for some reason go prone and get shot across the room right into a hole. Like cmon. lol. I think that game should have collectible lives too. Not a lot. Just enough to mitigate the dumb reasons you die. Gunfire and Abyssus have 1 revive when you solo.
- You should be able to collect the cheese even when on top of it instead of just when it is in front of you. By round 9 I was going so fast, I was having a hard time lining up the mouse with the cheese. lol
But yeah I love this game. I hope you guys push it to a full release. Great job.
You know, even though I was messing around on that last round, I was still over powered enough to almost make it back to the mouse hole lol
rat was thiccccc 10/10
Really fun and engaging! Reminds me of my pet rats and how they used to climb to all the places they were not supposed to :D
The game has some balance and controls issues but it's already very enjoyable in this state. I wish there was a free-roam option to just run around the kitchen without timer and see where you can climb.
It would be great to see it developed further with more features and levels!
Fun concept and gameplay! The camera movement with mouse was a little janky, but still had a good time playing. Love the rat and animations, great work!!
My poor rat couldn't find a fourth cheese and died of hunger. Really fun game! I love the rat animations and had fun finding cheese.
Sorry you died! I really need to tune the difficulty differently… but thanks for playing!
Thanks for making it!
Being a little rat thief was weirdly addicting. Loved the scale of the world and the scramble to cash in your cheese just in time. Would totally love to see this fleshed out further!
I think I’m (we’re? maybe… idk about Swagnar) up to the challenge. Coming soon :tm: in 2026!
Really neat game!! I love rats
The strength/speed/jump you could buy at the van was really interesting. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to jump up to the higher levels especially with the time limit, maybe some sort of indicator of how to do that would help. Besides that, I really enjoyed playing!
I love being a rat! :D
Too bad you start all the way from scratch when you die, I wasn't prepared for fall damage after my first time making it really high up
The second game I played this game about quickly stealing food from a kitchen to buy upgrades as a rat haha. Fun game and racing back to your nook as the seconds tick down is really great! Tricky controls, but the game was enjoyable enough that I wasn't put off from getting used to them.
Nice game, unique camera angle, the ragdoll gameover is funny and the the music is banger. felt the risk of being a rat!
RAT! (would love a downloadable ver. because the game runs poorly via html5)
>:3 loved it ! i felt so mischievous
Wow, really cool! This game deserves more likes! Maybe I’d tweak the camera movement a bit when moving the mouse, but I had a lot of fun! Great game.
Love playing as a tiny rat in a big kitchen... The sense of scale felt weirdly accurate. For some reason this game kept me coming back. My quibbles with it are that the cheese/upgrade spawns can be unfair... Also sometimes the game starts another round before upgrades can be purchased. But the core gameplay is solid!
Thanks for playing! We tried to keep the scale close to real. I’ll definitely have to look into that trigger volume stuff with the rounds and overhaul the shop/cheese spawns. Maybe multiplayer? Idk.
Rats pretty tricky to move, and maybe it would be easier if you just picked up the cheese when you touch it. Really cool visuals and movement though!
Ratmaxxing 🐀
If it weren’t for camera and the character controller ( especially with double-jumping which I couldn’t get to work reliably ) it would be the absolute peak of rat gaming. I genuinely hope you won’t stop working on this project after the jam because it was a joy. A truly immersive rodent experience.
Thanks for playing! If we would continue working on it, we would definitely overhaul the camera/character controller first as those are Unity's starter template controller and Cinemachine camera and just felt slightly buggy/off.
I became too greedy and lost to time when returning back my cheese ;-;
I had a lot of fun being a rat stealing cheese
Super fun idea, I like it a lot. I wish we had a little more time to run around the level or some variations? good luck on the jam! Bring me more cheese.
Such a cute breakbeat in the background :) Cool game! I think it would be more interesting and risky if there were enemies on the level instead of a timer. I’d also like to hear more sound design. The visuals are great, but the bag blends with the mouse’s color and looks a bit strange, almost like a growth.
