The game feels very unfair, there are obstacles that spawn right on top of the player with no time to react. Also I felt myself unwillingly dashing a lot of the time. Maybe dash should have been its own keybind

The art is really nice, but you don't get to see it unless you survive for a long time, which is very difficult to do. I do wish at the beginning there were some landmarks so the player could get a sense of where they were

The idea is solid, and there are the foundations of a really cool game

Thanks for playing our game and thanks for the feedback, we will update the game and improve it

The game looks really cool, tho i just didnt know what im supposed to do... i checked the page and i got the general idea and its really awesome that the world builds itself around you, but i just couldnt get far at all cuz whenever i try to walk around and live 5 black dudes come from behind me and do things to me that i cant say on this platform (and i dont know if theres a way to fight them, i couldnt figure it out).

still tho, the idea looks really cool, if you'd expand more on it :)

Developer

there is a way to defeat the black dude, you just have to jump on their head like mario

Hey unfortunately I can't seem to run the game as it says the archive is damaged, can't open or extract it

Nevermind, got the game working and the game instantly jumpscared the shit outta me with those black dudes that flanked me lmao
From what I gather it's a survival game where the world slowly builds itself around you as you stay alive. Cool concept but I feel it's way too slow and I'm certain I didn't see the entirety of the game

Furthest I got was when the ground materialized

Interesting idea, but I could never get past the mountains without dying.

I didn't quite understand what I was supposed to do)  Should I just run away from the shadows?

There are problems with the animations: sometimes they play, sometimes they don't. And also with the canvas: I didn't see the buttons completely. But I liked the visuals and the idea. Good job, keep it up!

I couldn't get far enough for the world to start building up without the shadow enemies spawning on top of me and instantly killing me, but the concept is cool and the pixel art is gorgeous. Would love to see more with some tighter controls.

Thank you for your feedback!, we have also considered making another easier version but unfortunately we don't have enough time :(

A simple enough survival game. I liked the aspect of the game slowly piecing itself back together! Led to a fun concept, even if I think more could have been done with it. I do think the game need a couple slight tweaks. Make it so hazards can't spawn on top of the player, that's the only way I ever took damage, and it was of no fault of my own. The dash also should have tighter timing, as it is very easy to unintentionally dash when you don't want to. A few little tweaks and you'd have a solid game on your hands!

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciated it so much 🙏🙏

Good points:

👉The menu is cool, the art and the animations for the UI are great. The title screen also has a nice animation with the little Earth.

👉In the game, I love the sprint bar, the design is very good as well. The character animation and movement are great. The animation and art of the mountain are really cool, love it.

Bad points:

👉Where is the objective in the game? I saw that you mentioned in a comment that the goal is to survive, but why not write that somewhere in the game? We spawn into the game and don’t know what to do. For example, since you have 7 people working on the project, maybe someone could record themselves speaking into a microphone and add a narrator voice to your game. You could say something like "A lot of things are going to happen, your objective is to survive." Something simple.

👉What’s with the white square at the bottom of the screen? Just change the color to show it’s grass or something, because it’s really hard on the eyes. And since you have 7 people, the art designer could take a moment to quickly create a grass texture—just 2 hours of work if you don’t know anything about TileMap.

👉Third, please add a slight delay between the movement of the camera and the player. It feels a bit off right now, not smooth. Maybe, for the natural disasters, you could add exclamation points to warn the player that something is about to happen. Right now, the red marks are not really clear; we don’t know if we need to avoid them or if something is going to happen.

👉Some sound effects would also be nice. You don’t necessarily have to create them yourself, as it can take a lot of time, but in a game jam, it's what we’re missing. Small effects like explosions or footsteps would be great.

👉The most important advice I can give is not to focus on just one theme. I see that in terms of animation and design, the game is really well done. The fireballs are cool, and the smoke trails behind them are nice too. But try not to focus too much on one aspect of the game. I understand that if you love working on art and animation, you might spend more time on that, but remember you’re not selling an asset pack, you’re selling a game. The goal in game jams is to touch on everything. By giving the player a clearer objective, removing the white square, and adding some sound effects, your game would have been much more enjoyable to play. But always keep in mind to make the game playable and fun to play first before focusing on secondary details.

In this review, I don't want to criticize negatively for no reason. I’ve tried to focus on specific examples, because the goal is to improve next time. I don’t want you to see it negatively, and I hope you’ll understand.

Feel free to check out my game (After my critique, I don’t think you’ll want to, but I’m still putting it here). 👎

Thank you so much for the feed we appreciate it 🙏,  as for the white square at the bottom of the screen if you played a little bit longer it will turn into grass, the longer you play the more the world changes

For real, I'm sorry, it's my bad if that's the case.
