Neat game, reminds me of the stanley parable. I liked the creative ways you went about designing the different stages. Nice work :)

How does the game fit the theme?
This is a game about disobeying the expectations of the narrator as they try to keep things from going wrong. You need to keep finding increasingly convoluted ways to try to lose the game.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The font, music, the main character sprites and the options icon.

Wow! very creative! Had a great time making the narrator angry haha! It was a nice touch how the words the narrator says give you hints and how you can interact with the options menu! Great job!
Very nice art and music ! I love the concept, I guess the Stanley Parable was one of your inspirations ;)
Please consider rating my game too
Gotta admit, the narrator bested me! I definitely could not get past that boss fight haha. Gave me flashbacks to the sans fight from Undertale. Well done!
This was such a fun game to play!! I really enjoyed the UI based puzzles and would love to see this kind of mechanic more in games. My only gripe was the boss' laser sounding was a bit loud but everything else was really well placed.
Amazing work!!
OMG This is such a great fking game.
The music is fire and dont you dare say "we didnt make it". I mean ya u said it already, but it isnt just as easy as to place music wherever. Your music placement, length and choice were perfect
And it was just fun till the narrator was calm, but the game literally dialed the gameplay to a 11 as soon as the "fight" began. I havent managed to beat it yet (37 attempts in xD) But seriously, the game is great.
You guys did an amazing job with the UI based puzzles. The way the game calls you out for trying the same trick twice..
I loved this!! And I feel proud that after this rating you guys will reach the 20 rating count!
Wow. Thank you so much!!! I'm so happy you enjoyed our little game!!! I think the best feeling is to know that something we made was able to connect with someone like this and that you had fun.
And about the music, we really didn't make it hahaha, but we did try to use it in a way to set the shifting tone of the game and the narrator's mood, as well as try to sync it to the attack patterns of the fight. I kind of messed up and forgot to pause the music when you pause the game, but granted that you don't pause the game during the boss fight, we also tried to sync the pauses with the calmest moments, and the most intense attacks with the most instense moments in the track. I don't know if we succeeded, but we did try hahaha
"I think the best feeling is to know that something we made was able to connect with someone like this and that you had fun."
I 100% agree with this!
I noticed that the sounds didnt pause when I paused the game haha.
But you guys really nailed the placement for all the music. It felt really polished
U really deserve the positive words :D
Really loved your game thought it was unique and the story was really well done.
Nice game! I really enjoyed the variety of traps. The fight was a nice surprise. Good job!
I NEED MOOOOOOOREEEE!!!!
The gameplay, music and art style really complement each other and the simple witty gameplay got me hooked, Got the feeling of "That Level Again" series. Great job on the game
I love the Stanley Parable inspiration, the game is quite simple, but not in a bad way, it was really nice to play and I absolutely loved the change of playstyle at the end (couldn't beat it yet though)
I think I found a bug (or not), it looks like if you walk in a diagonal you go faster, but I don't think you can quite beat it without the boost in speed haha
Thank you very much for your feedback! I'm glad you liked our game. It's not necessarily a "bug" (although it wasn't intentional). What happens is that we didn't normalize the diagonal movement vector. Maybe when we expand on this idea further we'll even adopt the normalized vector, but it's an unintentional mechanic that can be explored as a potential solution.
Sick game, the wordplay got to me and kept it engaging, despite the feeling of frustration in the beginning.
So overall, good balance I'd say, and it's long and creative. Well done!
This is such a great game. I think I got pretty far into the fight but kept “winning”, I’ll have to come back later to beat it. I really like how well the UI ties into the game.
The influence of the stanley parable and undertale is palpable lol. Whilst the game isn't doing anything new, it was a really good execution of the concept, and the positive twist at the end is a nice spin, so it didn't really need to. The music and sounds were excellent too, though some sounds were definitely on the louder side. So far this is one of the best I've played this jam.
I wanted to add that regarding difficulty, I feel this is a matter of taste and direction. I don't believe in too easy or too difficult, just know your target audience, and know what you want to convey with your game. This game starts off really easy, but quickly ramps up, but given the nature of the game I feel the difficulty is fine the way it is. Each attack is pretty easy to avoid once you know it (unlike undertale, is damn hard even when you do know the attacks), so it's just a matter of being persistent (which is fitting for the theme of the game).
Thank you for playing and for the feedback! The sound effects were a bit loud on the default settings, but you can turn them down (and/or the music if you want) in the options.
I had a hard time with the last level myself, but DaniBits had no problems, lol. We wanted it to be somewhat difficult and a total change of playstyle, but also not block completion for too many people because of it. In the end, we think it's at a good point of difficulty, and we totally agree with you.
This was a really great game! I think it's really clever that the later puzzle solutions also act as checkpoints to get back to where you left off.
Agree with the comment below about the ████████████ boss fight (Forgot that it'll be a spoiler so edited my comment). The narrator's script was fun to read (I used the voice of "There is No Game" in my head)
I've kept the tab open because I swear to DEFY YOU, NARRATOR!!!
*clears throat*
Well done! I had fun (・`ω´・)
This was incredible! (SPOILERS AHEAD, I PROMISE THAT THAT MATTERS)
I genuinely laughed out loud when the undertale style boss battle started, and the puzzles before were all interesting and cool! Very fun, and ending battle was perfect amount of difficult (at least for me)!
