It’s a cool idea with a fitting theme! My two cents:
- As a person with lots of experience in rhythm games, I couldn’t really sense the leftmost and the middle band members’ “attacks” really syncing with the music, the rightmost one played the main melody and it was fun to dodge, but I struggled a little bit with the other two so I tried to stay on the right side most of the time.
- This is a really quick fix; the jump “animation” could be a lot faster, if that makes sense. You would want the player to feel the “snappy” movement with the jumps as well, because right now it is sort of difficult to jump multiple times in sequence.
I loved the art style and the music by the way! Good job!
Cool song. There were a lot of things to dodge, but not really a rhythm to follow. Having a lot of options makes it harder to do things according to the beats of a song, even if that was the intention, I didn't feel like there was necessarily a sequence that I needed to follow.
Cool song. Managed to finish it on the 2nd try though due to a little cheese.I only stood on the right most lane and just jump those attacks, ignoring the 1st and 2nd lane. So definitely need a bit of revamp to the attacks.
But ey, in a rhythm game, the song takes the majority of the highlight, and there are some rhythm by jumping the attacks. So I would say you did a nice job on it overall :)
First music / rhythm game i play in the jam ! Good job guys ! Loved the enemy sprites, isn't they, dr willy, dr light and megaman :D ? Game was a bit hard, do i have to dodge every notes ?
Got to around 2:15, don't know how many songs are there but this would probably be it. The game is an interesting combination of a rhythm game, a bullet hell game and a reaction game. The idea is quite unique on its own and deserves some kudos. The music and songs are very nice too, and I guess that probably used you quite a lot of time in this jam.
As for some criticism coming from both a music game player and a bullet hell player, I'd say the game is difficult (but not in a good way) from time to time, where along with the music, the bullets are coming in quite fast and jam-packed, like for example the drum track in the middle it's almost impossible to jump through or walk through without talking any damages. It doesn't help especially when the input controls are quite unresponsive at times. There are quite some instances where the space button doesn't register correctly, and I do take quite some damage because of that. It also doesn't get the benefit of being a rhythm game, where the beat itself is a guiding factor, in this game you are supposed to dodge them instead. So most actions will be off-beat inputs, and really make the game less like a rhythm instead.
Anyway, I think still you did a nice job. Rhythm is always hard to do and even harder to escalate from. I think you all did a nice job!
at first I thought I had to catch the things at me I realized I have to dodge them lol, The music are BANGERS 10/10. solid game guys congrats <3
A great twist on the rhythm game genre! Instead of playing the beat, you're avoiding them! Tight and easy to understand gameplay, that's challenging (a little to challenging for me) but also very engaging.
The game reminds me a bit of the new Necrodancer game, not sure if that was your inspiration or not, either way. This was a very entertaining experience, great job!
Really great graphics/style with some superb animation. I wish it was a full game, it's a really cool idea
As a big guitar hero fan back in the days and a drummer I really liked playing your game. I made it to 1'40''. I feel like somethimes I'm traped and can't avoid any notes even if I follow the rythm. I'll give another try I want to complete the track! Congrats!
The game's nice and fun, but a little bit difficult lol, you could try adding a difficulty setting :)
It's actually really fun a unique twist on rhythm games! It was hard at first, but I was able to get the hang of it and do pretty well. Only thing I would say it needs is some more polish and fluid movement.
The game is very polished but I had a hard time lasting more than 15 seconds ahaha
