Cool game! Really polished, clear ux and fit the theme well!

Cool! A very polished entry. Gameplay is balanced, the graphics are nice, and you've chosen the sound effects and music well. I kept upgrading only damage until the button no longer worked. I think it stopped working because I reached max level on it. The weird thing is - I couldn't upgrade my speed either. Only health for the rest of the game.

Very balanced feel to the game. Good attention to detail for a game jam where the burrowing animation stops playing when going under the metal part. Would have loved it to keep going! (unless I missed something)

Very cool enemy design, and really good sound effects for everything which I appreciated. I played until the end! I liked that there actually was an end to this one, but you could play forever if you wanted to. But for a game jam game it's nice to have a cool ending in my opinion :)

Awesome job!

It's very fun!! Enemy wave are cool. Pixel art and sound are good!! I barely survived:) Good work!

Nice game, I liked the different types of enemies. You should decrease the time to spawn the next wave after the previous wave has been cleared. Wish it had a tad more complexity with the upgrades but good overall

Nice submission

This game is bloody awesome, so let me dive deeper.

The setting and environment is by far my favorite part--we start the game and find a small base, a tight, secure construction clearly built with the storm in mind, and placed in the middle of a dreary, windswept plain scattered with remains, the result of some sort of unrelenting, catastrophic storms called the Bleeding Storms. Whether they are the cause or result of some sort of apocalyptic event is unknown, and it is not known if the storm taking place in the game is itself one of them or something weaker. Strange creatures become active during the storm and attack the base (of which could be one of the final beacons of hope in the world, for all we know), and I think all of their designs are great, and all our protagonist has to stop them is a handgun and an iron will. This game looks, sounds, and feels amazing and actually has me interested in the 'lore' even if none exists yet. Hitting the "Emergency Shutdown" button to start waves is also very cool. The base having prominent and important lightning rods is extremely cool and I loved the lightning striking them during battle. The pixel art is great and your animation is on point.

The gameplay is tight and the pistol doesn't feel too weak or strong, but manages a good middle-ground. The waves become increasingly difficult in a very good difficulty curve, and the running total of fuel samples leading up to the "Strike" button is cool and immediately makes you want to win just to see what happens when you press it (I won the game by the way). We already know the UI raycasting is slightly buggy for upgrading, but otherwise I liked the simple upgrade opportunities between waves. And then the ending, of course, is cool. Another minor note is that while the storm element is central, the "calm before the storm" concept itself is somewhat weak.

If this game was expanded on and eventually sold, I would pay good money for it. Good job! Followed on itch. Follow me if you'd like.

EDIT: if you couldn't tell, this could possibly be my favorite jam game.

One of the best in the gamejam!
Great enemy variety, Loved how each enemy is different and they are all really well designed and thought of. Beautiful art(Did you make the sprites and animations etc?).

It's polished, challenging and fun!

The only weird thing I encountered is the upgrade system. It wouldn't allow some upgrades without much sense, for example it would let me upgrade Damage twice, then it would only let me upgrade health and won't let me upgrade speed.
The theme connection could be stronger.

Thanks a lot for playing! Yes I made all the art myself, glad you liked it :D The upgrade system was added in the last hour of the jam and it has some issues with the UI elements blocking raycasts so speed is hard to select haha. Thanks for the feedback!

Really good game. I felt time between waves could have been increased a little there are times when sitting there for 5-10 seconds waiting for something to appear. Controls felt really good and game was polished.

great game, rly interesting. I had the burrowing enemy bug and got stuck, apart from that, it seems to be a polished game

Movement and shooting felt great, with some more upgrades and weapons this could become a fantastic release, great work!

This was surprisingly hooking, I couldn't stop playing. The controls felt smooth and the enemies were cool.

I really enjoyed this one, quite a fun game (and I managed to survive!). It felt really polished with good difficulty scaling, enemy variety and I liked the addition of the upgrade system. Would love to see it expanded with even more weapon types/enemy types/upgrades etc. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. I had a lot of fun making it and I want to keep working on it! Would love to add more enemies, weapons, special abilities and so on :D

Survived! Nice game. Easily one of the best takes on the wave based space shooter I've played so far. I really enjoyed it- the controls were simple but effective and the enemies were good too. I think a little more feedback on the buttons and the damage would be a great improvement.

I really liked it, but the first time I played it it seems like i got stuck, there were not enemies spawning anymore and I slowly lost because of lighting hitting my base :/

Developer

Ah sorry about that, it is a bug with the burrowing enemy, which spawns outside of the arena for an unknown reason. Will be fixing it after the voting 😅 Hope you enjoyed despite it!

i did enjoy it! played it again after i got stuck and won ;)

Developer

That is great to hear, thank you so much for playing :D

I could feel the effort that went in. The graphics and sound design were good. I was a bit confused what my health was and what the strikes bar was.

Developer

Thanks! There technically isn't a health bar per se, but the player gets damaged and is a lot slower as a result. The only way to lose is if all the lightning rods get destroyed. Thanks for the feedback!

There is a good enemies variety and it is really good for game like this! You should also try to add some new mechanics for the player during the match!

Anyway it is a good one!

Submitted

Really solid! I'd recommend putting in a dedicated reload button for a little bit of convenience.

Nice enemy variety and controls, I think there was a bug because I wasn't able to select speed all game. Other than that nice job!

Developer

Yeah I'm aware of that issue, will fix it later :D Thanks for playing!

Really fun! I especially like the enemy variety, and the pixel art is really nice!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed
