How does your game fit the theme?
Different guests appear at the front of the door

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Some minor code snippets were taken from the pico8 forums, such as centering text and logging to files (used for debugging).

All the art, music and game code was done by myself.

Great job! This is super fun!

This was really good. You got the theme pretty well and the game was easy to figure out.

This was such a cute game. I helped out all the animals and they had the best party ever. The graphics were amazing and you did very well with the audio too. I just wish there was more to play because I was having fun, but that's a game jam for you! Great work!

This was a cute little game. Even though you didn't get as far as you wanted, it was really good and fun to play. Love the art style and the music. Really nice work!

I love Pico-8 style games, and yours is no exception to that rule :D My favorite part was finding a CPU in the trashcan, that is usually the place where I store mine at home as well. (If I am not using them to cook my meals on)

Only remark I can give is something you already know yourself: I want to see more guests arrive :D Very well done.

The game left me wanting more, so that's a really good sign. I didn't find any bugs or have any issues with my playthough. I loved the art and audio.

There's definitely something there.  Impressive music and sound effects you've created.  Art fitted the atmosphere of the game just fine.  It's difficult to say more given that you ran out of time.  But I feel like the elements are there for a good game, if it's fleshed out.

If you do get a chance to finish the game post-jam, let me know.  I'll play it again and give you more useful feedback.

Ah..so cute! I had fun playing the game. Cute characters and nice music too. Although I did take some time to figure out what to press to actually start the game.

Good game, funny and include Cappibara.... you are the winner of the JAM!!

Really cute game! I love that the guests are animals <3 I was thrown when I saw the capybara, so cute! Very interesting use of the theme, great job on the game! :)

Cute, didn't expect the guests to be animals.

Such a wholesome game, I really liked both the capybara and penguin guests and the fact that this was made with PICO-8.

cute idea and art =)

I'm also in the jam, and I know with more time everyone has a list of things they'd like to add or wanted to add. I try to provide the listed feedback in a constructive form to highlight different perspectives as a player and to show that I indeed did play the game.

  • I am unsure if there is a time crunch when answering the door.
  • The game could be close to those restaurant cooking games where you have to balance getting the item to the player versus answering the door.
  • Took me a second to realise that I think I need to start the music to start the game
  • I went to use the mouse when the game loaded initially to click "Press to start", lol

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it! Yeah, I did want to make someting akin to the restaurant games. As it stands, there's no way to actually lose this game, so there's no real challange other than figuring out the tasks the guests want you to do. There were some other comments on the controls so I know to figure something out about that in the future!

Had a bit of an issue figuring out the controls in the beginning, but other than that, really nice game. Cute little idea, well implemented. Very nice little game.

👏 Very interesting use of the theme! You took time to allow the player to choose a character: it add a nice little touch to it (does it change something in the late game?).
Congrats for your game!

I did want it to have an effect asI had plans for more guests, but I just ran out of time! I was maybe going to have someone flirt with you and you could choose to accept them or pair them up with someone else (there was meant to be human guests, but I ended up just sticking to animals).

This was really cute! I love the idea of throwing a party for a bunch of talking animals. Was also neat how you could look around the house at what you have available, but couldn't actually pick it up till someone asked for it. Good job!

This was fun, unfortunately the game started muted so I missed out on some of the sickest music of my life, and Heinz's mix tape. I was fully expecting a Pelican to walk in after seeing the Capybara's dialogue, and no I didn't choose that dialogue option, Pelicans are cool.

Developer

That would have been a great idea!

Thanks for playing!

A fun game! Smooth control, everything is in its place. Everything is working as it should, so the party will be great, no doubt! A cool track from a bird!

But I would keep an eye on the capybara - he is clearly a show-off)))

I didn't expect the gameplay to be that interactive. I finished the game and I had lots of fun. Great job!
