How does your game fit the theme?
Our team chose to interpret the theme “Diving Deeper” metaphorically, and opted for emotional storytelling through narrative, audiovisuals, and mechanics as our game’s core pillar. The player dives deeper into the character’s subconscious in order to reconstruct their memory: an omniscient narrator guides you as you navigate a liminal world. Take on the form of a raven, representative of the protagonist’s soul, as you dive deeper into yourself and uncover the mysteries of your own mind.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
- Everything you see in the game is made from scratch, barring some of our 3D environment assets, and the fonts. All were downloaded for free.

List:
“Low poly styled rocks” - Daniel Robnik / Unity Asset Store
“Hospital Bed” by rokerilla / TurboSquid

Nice polished game with amazing visuals.

Awesome work!  I love the progression of the game and the story was well thought out.  Audio and sound was perfect.

Using shift for the dash was a little awkward for me but I got used to it after a couple levels.

Developer

Thanks so much :D Yes for me too actually. Maybe we can give some more control options in the future.

This game is so beautiful. I enjoyed it a lot!! everything fits with the theme, the voice the effects the models and the gameplay. I had fun playing it!

The game is perfect for the jam duration! but I'll just give a few suggestions on what to add 😁if you plan to make a full game on it:

1- I think it was easy 😂 maybe add like a boss fight

2- Maybe each level the character will have an extra ability

3- Maybe some parts of the memory are going to be NPC that you can talk to or that help you along the way

Also, I noticed the cursor is not locked to game screen, I was playing it on 2 screens sometimes I would accidently click on the desktop.

overall a great game!

Developer(+2)

Thanks so much for the comments :D To answer your comments:

1 - Yes, a little too easy. We made it like that for now because once you die, you die. You don't respawn at the level you reached so, we found it would be too punishing if it were too hard. But we could make it harder and then have the player respawn at the level they reached :)

2 - Each level does provide an extra ability :D Or do you mean on top of the ones already provided, like 2 abilities per level? The abilities are detailed in the Memory Fragment box, and we could polish in the future by adding UI pop-ups after too :)

3 - Yes, NPC interactions were on of our first concepts but there was no time with this level of polish. Absolutely think it could be a very cool addition, we've got it in our notes already :D

Ahh, thanks for the comment on the cursor. Will add that! Thanks :)

Wow I didn't notice that. I would listen to the story of the speaker without actually reading the prompt. I won the game without noticing the ability 🙃

yep adding UI pop-ups would be great or instead of the button "activate" have the "key and ability", or have the speaker say it, just like when they introduced the monster in the beginning. But I think it's just my carelessness If someone reads out loud, I usually don't read with them I just listen, after that I click the first button I see.

I like the visuals and the overall atmosphere of the game. When you got the explosion, it was just spamming the right mouse button, and the fact that enemies can spawn inside you is frustrating. But other than that, it's a very good game.

Developer

Thanks! Yes, the explosion and enemy spawn is on our polish list right now. Thanks for the feedback :D

Very cool!

This game is mesmerizing and beautiful! The combat system is fun, too :3.  What a pity that my computer is not strong enough to play it smoothly completely :v

Beautiful game with a lot of smart details to make it feel immersive. And "Tomorrow is a black page full of hope" Just wow will remember that!

Developer

Thank you, I wrote that :') Loved your game, incredibly polished for only 1 week. Hope to see it develop!

Submitted(+3)

Excellent presentation, love the battle music. The battles themselves are not as strong, there's not any variety to the enemies or shooting, though I did appreciate being able to hold the mouse button to continue firing.

Once I got the explosion ability I could pretty much just tap right mouse to beat all the enemies with little risk. The jump mechanic seemed buggy, it didn't seem to always trigger when I wanted, leading to me landing under the bed, while I assume I was supposed to land on top. The ending scene still triggered properly, so no harm I guess.

Developer

Oop, landing under the bed is a funny / new one :D Thanks for the feedback, we have taken note. Yes, the explosion and variety is a recurring comment too, definitely something on our polish board. Thanks for reconfirming, this only motivates us to fix it more!!

This game is awesome. The design, sounds, gameplay and the idea are pretty good. It was such an amazing experience to play it, thank you!

The voice acting in this game was a HUGE eye-opener I must say. Gameplay-wise this game is very polished from world-building to movement to mechanics. Your team deserves a pat on the back for that one! The powerups didn't have any cooldowns, so I pretty much enjoyed what I was given to attack in each act very much. This is an excellent entry! Hope the team continues this.

Developer

Thank you so much! I tried my best :D Just played your game and it was very fun!!

I loved the atmosphere of this game. You've managed to build something very interesting, and everyone on the team has worked very well. The story is very good, the enemy death effects are good, and the audio, both the music and the voice acting, are great. Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you so much! Loved the atmosphere of your game :)

Love the level of storytelling obtained here and the use of intelligent game design elements. The added abilities trickled in is excellent work, and it's easy to imagine this as the tutorial for a bigger game. The models of the enemies make us want to hug them rather than squash them. Thoroughly enjoyed killing our inner demons by shining as bright as the literal sun with the attacks, but they feel a bit cheap with no counterbalance, like cooldowns and start-up time. Great job to the team for creating something so cohesive. The sound design ties it all together in a dreamy state, though there was one point with some crazy panning and filtering that felt out of place and hectic. It's hard not to admire your combined ability to have a deeper meaning in such a short time frame.

This game is just so charming. From its presentation to its undertones, I enjoyed every moment. Thank you.

Developer(+1)

Oh, thank you so much. Infinite Onion is in my top 4 ♡ 🧅

Submitted(+3)

Wow, this story and voice acting is ways "too good" for a game jam, lol.

I think i can just repeat what others already told, everything fits very well together and is a real masterpiece, which i would not have expected within one week. Awesome entry.

I also like, that you gave the option to choose moving to mouse or direction (direction was pretty difficult for me, but as soon as changing to mouse it was really fun).

Just maybe a little tip for balancing: As soon as i knew about the possibility of explosions, it was pretty easy. They are maybe a bit too overpowered...

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for your amazing comment, we are overjoyed every-time we read these, especially as we are not a pre-made team and joined a day late so.. we didn't know what to expect! As for the explosion: you hit the nail on the head. The reviews agree and the devs too - something to fix in the future :D

Submitted(+3)

Super unique and amazing game, I'd be shocked if it isn't in the top ten overall. The explode ability is a little overpowered though, since it has no cooldown.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

This is too kind of you, our team is keeping our fingers crossed but happy to be part of the experience either way. Best of all, the ratings and reviews will hopefully confirm our suspicions about what we need to fix - such as the explosion. Will be checking your game out tomorrow! :)

Submitted(+4)

My only complaint is the lack of animation (the ghost movement and the character's jump), but consider how much you've done well (art style, audio, particles, UI, voice over...) in this short time frame, I'd say it's reasonable to have something missing.

Submitted(+4)

Super Super enjoyable game! As many people have already mentioned the voice over is super effective! and the storyline made me want to keep playing! The art style was simple, but it will age well! I play a lot of apex and the raven reminded me of the raven Bloodhound uses!

Developer

Thank you so much :D Yes, we went for a timeless vibe! Thanks also for the VO compliments:)

Submitted(+3)

A Wonderful Usage of the theme to make something unique and interesting, was all around a fun experience and felt really polished. The voice over was very cool as I haven't seen many game do that so far. Great job : )

Developer

Thank you so much! First jam and first VO with this sort of extended scope and format, so that means a lot :)

Submitted(+4)

For me it's a 5 stars across the board. I loved the artstyle, reminded me of a game I love called Death's Door. The theme is somewhat original, but also important and resonates with people. Loved the narration and the gameplay is pretty smooth. Awesome work!

Submitted(+2)

Also, our games have almost the same name haha

Developer

Ohhhh thank you so much, this comment made my day! So glad you liked the narration. Checking out your game is a must, we are name buddies! :D On it.

Submitted(+3)

I gave it a 4,8/5. Absolutely wonderful and very beatiful. Having personally had issues with mental health I feel this was a good serious GameJam entry.

Audio was sublime. Dynamic music, wonderful SFX and very juicy and satisfying combat eventhou that is not the point.

Great job. Also a very innovative take on the theme.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for being so open about this - we actually 'self-deprecatingly' went with #TeamTrauma or "Trauma Studios" because so many people / and devs have gone through very rough times. Especially after these past few years, this is the story we wanted to tell. Thanks for taking the time to download, and for the super nice comments!
