Really good visuals! The game needs a restart button, and the movement in some cases became quite wiered. I found very fun the switching charachter mechanics!
Good job! I love the gameboy aesthetic. Yeah, the platforming does need some work, but I wouldn't say it's terrible or anything. Just janky. I also like the multiple character concept. You should be proud.
Thank you very much for playing :D I might polish this idea in the future.
Hello.
This game realllllllly needs a way to restart the level without needing to reload the game page. Let's take level one. I accidentally let high-jump character fall on the next level pit, now I need to restart the whole game ( in this case, no other levels had to be redone ). On level 2, for example, I accidentally let big rock fall with the place that the wizard is, now to try again I'd have to redo the other level. Getting soft locked made me not want to try again.
Furthermore, a tutorial is necessary, as I only found out by a comment that shift makes the character run.
As I already said, getting soft locked made me not want to try again, so I did not finish your game.
Tutorial is a must that sure is true. But if you want to restart the level the option is in the menu that appears if you press Esc. Game was made mainly for desktop pc so I forgot to place the menu button on screen for web build.
Love the visuals of your game! I would suggest tweaking with the physics a bit more for improvement, overall great concept and good job!!
I’d appreciate it if you check out my game as well!
Awesome look - GB classic. Sadly, physics were too bad, I couldn't pass the first wall. :/
Cool aesthetic, the physics were a bit weird but the idea was great.
The platforming could use some work, but I think the character switching mechanic works well with the puzzles. Just the right difficulty for a jam game. The visual style is very nice too.
Amazing, but the physics is abit wierd
I like the visuals and music. You should change a movement a little bit because it's really weird.
the graphics were super cool and the idea with different characters was nice!
but the movement was super weird and annoying at times
I liked the idea of changing characters, with some being able to do different things. However, it's really hard to pull off, and sometimes you accidentally soft lock yourself and you have to restart the level, which is pretty frustrating.
I liked the gameboy like graphics and pleasant music. Unfortunetely I got stuck after finding the box and didnt know what to do next!
I really like the ideas and mechanics of this. I love the simplistic art style and think the music does a good job of keeping you interested. One slight improvement could be to have an option to retry a level throughout as I got stuck at one point and had to exit and redo the whole game. Still very cool though!
Thank you!
There is option to Retry under esc but I should have indicate it somehow because it's not obvious especially in web version.
OK, good to know. Some feedback on my game would be much appreciated if possible.
This reminds me of Thomas Was Alone. I liked the concept and the art. I just think the difficulty curve is too steep. You should try to introduce the mechanics more gradually in your next game. Cool game in general. Well done!
Thank you very much. I will work more on UX in my future games because most people pointed out this fact. I never in-game indicated that shift makes you jump faster and jump higher...( Also I'll work on movement mechanics as they feel... unpredictable and junky.)
My apologies for not understanding the game. How do you make the player jump over the first platform?
yup... wondering that too
My apologies for not making it easily understandable XD If you hold shift you run faster and jump higher.
this game could be good if the physics werent janky and sluggish
why are some jumps taller then others why is the walk speed this low ik there's a run button but i didnt know at the start and thought the walk speed was the highest speed and also the collision is kinda terrible
Thanks, I know about the issues and yes I agree. It was my first attempt at platformer physics and I sure as hell will work on it. Lack of tutorial on the other hand is unredeemable fault of mine...
I liked the retro style
Thank you :D
