Very original gameplay idea, love the grass and fence shaders, and the art is really cute
Would love to see a gamemode where you race against a CPU to see who mows the most lawn
Hello fellow Mow-dev! Obviously you blew it out of the water with the take on the theme. Perfect, no notes. I enjoyed your game as well. Very visually appealing, your audio is quite nice, your grass textures/shaders are satisfying to cut, and the mower itself feels snappy to control. Very nicely put together piece. It feels complete and polished. I wasn't particularly good at it, but I had fun. If I were to have any criticisms, a little more variety in the music would have been nice. Possibly a few additions to the mechanics to make it a little more engaging. As well as some more variety in the environment/obstacles. Alas, we only have so much time to work on these! Nicely done 🤝
The sentiment has been echoed before but this would've been a killer flash game back in the day. Very finished-feeling with great art and the mechanic of slingshotting around is very simple but satisfying. Tough to get the M rank, but I'm gonna get there. >:3 Love all the visual flare, like with the grass shaders and the skid marks making for great visual touches.
This game feels polished! I think the timers are a bit long on the first few levels but feels a bit better as there are more things to be aware of. Vibes are for sure excellent though, reminds me of a flash game I would've sunk time to back in the day :)
I liked the vibe and how the game plays. Graphics are nice and high quality. I also enjoyed watching the progress as it was being made being posted on Discord.
The grass graphics were really fun to look at, and the presentation overall had a really great vibe! I felt that there might have been too much time in the earlier levels, but I thought the limit worked well in the later levels where there was more to explore. I appreciated the new level mechanics introduced, too!
Cute game with great art and music! It is very polished in every regard, and I especially like the pseudo 3D effects created by the grass and walls. It was satisfying to mow down the grass and watch my points go up, but I did find controlling the mower to be a bit difficult.
I would have loved for it to be bigger so it could take out larger chunks, and maybe get those small pieces that are left behind. I'd also appreciate knowing the percentage of how much of the grass I mowed while playing the level, as in one of the levels there were small isolated patches of grass, and I didn't know if they were important to clean them off before moving on. It also felt like the game would benefit from some more variety in what the player can do, like special abilities or power ups.
Great take on the theme, everything about the presentation is excellent.
Very charming! My favorite touch were all the different end screens for each rank. I feel like the base gameplay might need something extra to make it more engaging but that might just be me personally.
Great work on how polished this is, from the graphics to the music, and proper menus! The mechanics are smooth and fun. I'm definitely no da vinci at lawn mowing, but the game was patient xD
Also, I don't know how you did the grass mechanic. Did you use a shader, or how do you remove just the parts touched by the mower and then outline the shape?
we basically write to an actual texture in memory based on the player's position - it's almost like a drawing program, in a way, but you're only able to erase! making it actually look like grass, on the other hand, is a handful of shaders that a) apply some noise to the flat colored base texture, b) make it 3d with wind, and c) give it an outline. thanks for asking, and thanks for playing!
Fun game I beat all 6 levels and then realized the name MOWED is "MODE". Clever take on the theme, adorable artss
The most satisfying game of the jam.
Simple, smooth, charming! Really reminds me of Eatsa Pizza from Mario Party 3—imagine a multiplayer version of this! Loved seeing the variety of added challenges in later levels to keep things interesting. My only complaint is how the player kinda gets stuck/loses momentum when hitting walls.
It doesn't even feel like a Game Jam submission! Ultra polished an smooth gameplay. Had a lot o fun playing it, very cool mechanics as well. Thanks for sharing
Mode = "Mowed" haha very original! fun game! who doesn't love the satisfaction of a completely mowed lawn, also i like mowing perfect circles haha. I will say the performance wasn't very good on my machine, but I don't have a very powerful computer.
This game hurts the perfectionist in me...I hate leaving those litter slivers of grass uncut! Cute art and interesting movement with the dash mechanic! Kept trying to line up perfect dashes to make neat little lines, usually to no avail. Good work!
I really liked the brake-boost mechanic. It made me feel like I was playing Crazy Taxi: Front Lawn Edition. The decision to do all the linework in the art with that rough pencil brush was a great choice too. It really drove home that "simple, fun flash game" art style you have going on. In fact, the whole game felt like it would've been right at home on Newgrounds circa 2009, and I mean that in the best way.
Great work :)
I like the play on words interpretation of the theme! Seeing the lawn mowed was also very satisfying. One thing is that I would've liked to see more movement abilities. I felt like I was moving kind of slow, not sure if there was something that I missed.
maybe! the game should be a lot more fast paced if you make clever use of the boost ability mentioned in the controls. it's probably the only way to get the highest scores on the levels!
Decent game. Wish there was more connection to the theme, though I really enjoyed the pun. Something along the lines of different lawn mowers that affect the mowing and timer. Like larger mowing size at the cost of using more gas/time. Or a slower mower that has more control and uses less gas/time.
pretty fun & smooth gameplay :)
