How does your game represent Mode?
This game is inspired by the SNES and its built in graphics modes. The most well known being mode 7, which when used with HDMA let you make pseudo 3D effects on the SNES. This game is entirely 2D. All 3D effects are faked to evoke an aesthetic similar to games on that console.

Awesome aesthetic, really invokes that mode 7 feel! Movement and shooting felt smooth and familiar, the reticles were a little hard to see at times but it didn't take too much from the experience. Really, I just want more levels! Great work!

This was so fun. I love the artwork and the way you made this in 2d. It absolutely achieves the feel of a 3d shmup like star fox. Really impressive.

Took me a decent amount of tries to beat it but it never feels overwhelming. I like how the stone arches fade out after you pass them, nice detail.

Great game. Thank you for making it.

Game feels smooth as silk on gamepad, and the aesthetic is top notch. From the sound design and music to the art, everything is perfect for that arcade/SNES aesthetic. The fact that you made a game with functioning mode 7 is impressive enough, but doing it all solo is crazy lol. I would love to play more of this if you continue working on it or any similar projects. I would've really loved a high score counter or something like that, but found myself replaying it several times anyway just to get that satisfying win jingle. Great game and amazing job!

Almost wrote this game off entirely base on the lack of effort put into the itch page, which is crazy considering how much care went into the game! Loved it. Add more screenshots or something

Very clever interpretation of the theme, super impressive entry. This game is really addicting, I remember streaming this in the discord after the jam finished and dying over and over again, even dying after having beaten that final boss by catching one last rogue projectile, and still wanting to just grind at it until I finally beat it. Controls are tight, visuals are authentic and unique, and the enemies are fun to fight. Overall just a really nice, short and sweet entry that I enjoyed a lot!

I love that you were inspired by Mode 7 for this. Aesthetics are amazing, and gameplay is spot on. A lot of care went into this on so many levels and it shows.

It's funny how evocative one screenshot can be, because I was pretty strongly interested in it based on the cover. A very cool setting with tall beautiful clouds, endless waves, and a witch with long flowing hair riding a mechanical broomstick. Just really hooks you in!

I was hoping I'd see some people trying to emulate Mode 7 (I was going to try and fake it with 3D for my game if I had the time) but talking with the developer, GhostBomb, revealed that she is actually implementing it how it would've been using the techniques they would have had to use before. Honestly really incredible. And then on top of that, the loop the game puts you in has really cool musical flares and design considerations, like that the track picks up in intensity just as a boss enemy comes on screen. I feel like if the game were expanded, it could pick up a decent amount of people following on it.

Both the gameplay and aesthetics are great! I played Panzer Dragoon Orta not too long ago, so I felt pretty at home with the aerial shooting gameplay.

My big frustration is that the distant part of the aiming reticle blends in the with background, which can make landing shots a bit difficult. It might also be nice if there were homing shots, but I recognize that everything as it is now was probably complicated enough for game jam development window.

It's very professional and I could definitely see it being a release on the SNES!

Loved the visuals and music! Hard gameplay, reminds me of Space Harrier which I love. Was unsure of theme connection until I scrolled and read mode 7, clever but a bit niche

Really incredible presentation! I like the use of the theme. One of our team members had some trouble getting his controller to work, but I was able to play through and had a blast. Really cute game!

Wow! I LOVE the execution on this. Such classic fun and aesthetics. Had a blast with this.

Love how well the 16-bit era of graphics is done here. Definitely does justice to the theme. Reminded me of the old Space Harrier games or After Burner etc. Pretty cool, looks great, was fun to play, and so far is the only interpretation of the theme being mode7 I've seen.

I haven't really played many games that use mode 7 graphics so this was a unique experience for me and I had a lot of fun with this. I love the attention to details like when you get close to water you make waves on the surface. Great game!

this was incredible! i was in awe of the mode 7 effect in the game - our game was also made in gamemaker with pseudo-3d effects, so i’m really curious about how you pulled this one off. it was SO COOL seeing all the bullets and enemies fly around in this style, and it was super fun dodging everything with the perspective. the worst thing i can say about the game is that it’s a little short, but that’s barely even a negative, especially for a jam game! amazing job!!

This was really well put together! This might be the game with the most polish I've played so far, it's short but definitely feels like a complete, finished package. I really loved the shift in the music alongside the first ship appearing, that was a great touch!

Gives me those Space Harrier/ Afterburner vibes, very well made! Feels like a bite-sized version of those games. I don't think the game fits the theme well though, but that does not take away from how well made and polished this is!

Very cool!

Thanks for the kind words!  Mode 7 was the first thing that popped into my head when thinking of the word mode 🤷‍♀️.

one of my favorites I've played so far.  very authentically recreates mode 7 effects!! super impressive.  the art is very full of character & the controls are intuitive.  nice challenge too!  so satisfying taking down the big ships
