How does your game represent Mode?
"Mode" inspired us to take the same basic premise and shift the player's experience according to the different genres they would play. Whether they are fighting the slug, running away from it, or having a dance off, we attempted to deliver a humorous and engaging experience that would be memorable for its different modes of play.
The initial pitch involved random switches between game genres triggered by changes in music, as if somebody was playing with a radio while you fought a monster. Over the last few weeks, we honed the concept into SLUG MODE.
We hope people have fun playing SLUG MODE, and we know that our team learned a lot throughout its development. Thanks again to Big Mode for inspiring us to put so much effort into the jam. It was a lot of fun and we hope Big Mode hosts another jam soon!

Great work! Lots of details and nice graphics. It felt intuitive as well, even if I did poorly on the dating sim. (Probably just me being a lousy date)
I liked the slug but he did not like me back. We bonded so well over our lack of passion for sluggassin's creed and everything. Why slug? My poor heart.
Glad you pushed through a challenging week to deliver this one, it was a gem! The art was fantastic and the dating sim was super engaging for all its goofiness. The music and art tied together super well, and the ramping difficulty was just enough to keep my attention. Really excellent job!
This was pretty fun! I kind of didn't like the running from the slug bits, but I liked the dating sim stuff. I felt tense doing the shooter bits in a good way!
I've loved this idea, it's super interesting! The game looks very juicy, and the presentation is really cool. I liked the different mini-modes and how they connect with each other. You've really done a fantastic job!
One of the most polished jam games I've seen so far. Wow the absolute smorgasbord of variety that is this game. I've seen compilations of minigames in a jam before but usually they involved the heavy reuse of existing assets. This game had a ton of unique assets for each and every game. I was also surprised at how good each of the minigames ended up being.
I felt pretty confident in most of my skills but the visual novel and platformer were the ones I struggled with the most. In the end this is what I got:
Absolutely wonderful entry!
The amount of visual detail in this is insane. That alone is hard to pull off in this short amount of time, but you also have a really nice game shoved in here with tons of variety
Great game, love variety of different game modes, reminds me of Wario ware ! the graphics were top notch also !
What a fun take on the theme! Really enjoyed the scenes in the restaurant - I couldn't tell if I was on a date with the slug or being roasted by him, but it was all fun regardless. I appreciated that the various games would return with a ramped up difficulty. Every game was well implemented and had a unique artstyle, so all I can say is kudos! Really nicely done.
Incredible. Love the use of slugs in many MODES for the theme, not enough slug modes. Visuals and audio are polished, appropriate... poignant. Mini games are fun and well-done. Smooth transitions. Incredible. Great sense of humor.
Wow, amazing game! I love how while each mode rotates out, the gameplay evolves so it always feels fresh. Visuals are superb as well, and the writing was really funny! Slug a la mode is easily my favorite, I found myself chuckling a few times playing it. Our game has a rhythm component too, but I think you guys used the correct DDR layout ;p Congrats on getting this out, I can tell y'all put a lot of love into it!
Someone walked in on me while playing, and I couldn't think of a way to explain why I was apparently playing a slug dating sim. Fantastic game 10/10.
What a goofy yet briliant game. The visual style is super unique and charming in its own way. Overall I think if it was a bit more original in the mini game mechanics it contains it would be perfect! The slug theme feels deeply personal for some strange reason, and I dig it. Awesome job to you! Great job on the Warioware feeling game loop that I wish more casual titles used!
This was a really cool entry. Each one of the games felt like they had a lot of work put into it they all felt very polished . The art was also top notch too. I liked how the games scaled in difficulty the further you went on. Also the VN got a couple of laughs out of me I wasn't expecting that as one of the games. You guys did great on this game.
that was super neat! every minigame was done really well, and i love how the art style changed to something different for each one. each one was very cute and unique, and the dialogue was really funny in the dating sim segments! i also like how the gameplay ramped up as you got further in - at first i thought it was just going to be lightly touching on each genre, but the space shooter and the rhythm game surprised me with how tricky they got. this would be cool with an endless mode, i’d love to see how long i’d be able to keep going! nice work!
I'm glad you liked how the difficulty increased with each round! We weren't able to include an endless mode during the jam's time limit, but after you play through the game once, a new button unlocks on the main menu that lets you pick one mode to play until you either win or lose all your hearts. It's not exactly the same thing but could be close to what you're looking for. Our team will definitely consider an endless mode option in case we try to enhance SLUG MODE in the future or make a similar game!
Very interesting idea.
Really like the different minigames not to mention the excellent art.
I just wish I could skip the VN parts (I am not a fan of VN).
Thanks for playing! After you play through the game once and receive your rank, you have the option to play each mini-game individually until you win or lose all your hearts. We put that in there just in case someone liked one mode in particular and wanted to replay it. That's probably the closest thing to skipping the VN (or really any of the modes) that we were able to include.
