How does your game represent Mode?
"An Origami Tale" represents "Mode" through two gameplay styles:
Origami Mode:
Use the character's unique origami transformations to pave your way through the stages, each origami transformation giving the player different path alternatives to reach the goal.
Craft Mode:
Seamlessly switch to Craft Mode at any time to shape and customize stages using the resources you have available. Create new paths, block obstacles, reach daunting spots!

I like the platforming. Good graphics.
I really liked the use of Origami, reminded me of Thousand Year Door, but with more active uses! While I’m not usually a fan of separate platforming and placing modes, I think the mechanics were used well to make the levels. Could use more general polish and visual consistency, but the base game is solid. Good job.
This game is very fun!
Just the right amount of challenge for me :) Awesome take on the theme "Mode". Also, the origami art style is super cute and related to the mechanics of the game. Really good job here!
This game is awesome, I love the style and the platforming is great. The origami modes are cool and I like the simplicity and how it adds new skills on with enough time to try out the different modes! well done!
the style is really cool and the gameplay is alot of fun. turning into origami as a little ninja is awesome.
This game has a concept that I found really interesting, it's a puzzle platformer where you have to shift between different modes to reach the goal. The mode shifts was executed pretty smartly and the level design was really interesting, not too hard but not too easy either. Overall I really liked how well designed the game is however there is one issue that truly made my enjoyment slightly worse and that is the character movement. It's quite slow and heavy, and while it is a feeling that you can get used to, at first it does not feel good to control. However, if the character was a little bit faster I would say this game would be amazing, there is a foundation for a really great game with tons of creative and fun ideas, and I would definitely check a more polished version of it. Great job!
Very nicely made and cohesive game around a cool concept! I really like the uniqueness in each origami power really makes you think about how you can complete a level!
Great ideas, and so, so well made. Good job!
Solid puzzle platformer with a surprising amount of polish. The aesthetic of the game is great and I really liked all of the character art (especially the wizard), the bg, and the particle effect when you touch the wizard. The game was very responsive and I didn't encounter any bugs while completing it. I think my favorite part is the jump pads that allow you to keep gaining height by jumping at the top of your bounce - super fun. Great job!
Solid 4 stars for everything!
I do wish, tho, that you couldn't accidentally finish an area before collecting all the required scrolls.
Having to restart the entire level just so you can go back to a previous area erases all your progress afaik which kinda sucks.
Completely agree :( This was something that unfortunately got by us during playtesting and it ended up being a very important factor on release. Living and learning, right? Thank you for playing and for your feedback!!
Great Game! the art is absolutely stunning. The theme of mode feels really well interpreted and the platforming feels good. One issue that I also encountered with my own game is that if you spam the space key you can do a triple jump.
Ah! You noticed that... We found out about the triple jump literally hours after submitting and hoped it wouldn`t be a huge factor due to it being very inconsistent. But something urgent to fix for next builds for sure!!
I realized this was an issue in my own game also after submitting, i only realized once my friend pointed it out... Should be a simple fix where I just add a short delay for consecutive jumps.
I lost the second stage because I didn't collect all the papers I assume. That was kinda bs imo, but otherwise the game was fun.
I know exactly which paper you missed lol, it was something we realized after submitting, unfortunately :(. But thank you for playing!!
I think the take on the theme rocks!!! (or paper!)
Thank you for the effort and hope you integrate all you got in mind for this!
Thank you!! Looking forward for more updates on your project!!
Great job! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!! Glad you liked it!!
This feels like a game that I would play on my DS (that's a good thing)! I like that each power up has it's strengths and by just looking at the level you can already kinda figure out what you're gonna have to do. The Craft mode is very well implemented, although I have never used the green bounce pad. The sprite work is nice and the origami animations are great! I think I only have three (3) minor things I want to say:
One (1), I don't know how much sense id makes to have a parralax effect, when the camera is still.
Two (2) I think having a bit more visual feedback on disabled blocks would be helpful (making them grayscale or turn completely black or just turn the GameObject off).
And lastly Three (3) I don't know how I feel about the scrolls still being on your possession after you die. The levels are built in a way that you can always collect all and finish the levels, but I found myself using all my resources to get one after the other and then just heading straight for the end. If that is intended. That can of course be intended, in which case you can ignore point number Three (three).
Thank you for making this fun and creative game and for coming to my TED talk.
Thanks for the feedbacks! I really appreciate it.
The scrolls not reseting I thought could be a way to make the game less challenging to beat, whilst also allowing the player to get more creative! But for a full release, the scrolls would definitely reset!
Oh man those wizard guys are so funny. Their personalities and dialogue reminds me of the writing and narrative style in Magicka. You’ve got some good writing talent! I liked the level design and you had set up some satisfying platforming flows, things felt very fluid once I got the hang of things and figured out the level.
This was helped by the speed of the respawn which was reminiscent of Super Meat Boy and I love that, because I just want to GET ON WITH IT after I die!
Glad you liked the wizards! And yes, maybe magicka was an accidental inspiration, that style of dialogue really stained my mind! Thanks for playing and for the feedback
This is very clever and I'm really enjoying it. The game idea is really good, and I love the origami shapes. I wish the restart screen button is tied to keyboard so I don't have to constantly reach for my mouse, but it's a small personal thing lol
I wish the jump could be a little higher so it's a bit easier to platform, but even without that I enjoyed the mechanics. Each origami makes you think how to approach the level. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback! We will definitely look into these things!
Great work on this! Wonderful platforming and a creative take on the theme of mode. I enjoyed the various ways I could use the origami to assist myself along the way. Nice job!
Thank you! I hope that with this Bobby doesn't bump me in the night
As long as Bobby gets his soup there will be no trouble...
Well designed platformer! I loved the free-form aspect of solving levels. Solid presentation, loved the sprites and polish in the UI (which surprisingly a lot of games in this jam were lacking). Managed to beat all the levels. Great take on the theme!
Thank you! I loved the way you tackled the jam's theme as well!
really nice game. has a lot of content and mechanics as well
Thank you! (FYI, I am addicted to your game...)
