I like it, a tower defense game where you have to maintain and setup towers while also dodging enemy attacks... my only complaint is the controls, it doesnt really feel nice to move around and it feels like im dragging around the bee instead of moving it.
Simple and clean. It's cool making a game where you can't directly defend yourself, but you have to make a system that can defend you. Sometimes the bee was a bit awkward to control, but I also feel that too much control with the bee might make the game a bit too easy so I get it. Good stuff!
Nice game!
The art and music were very fitting and the mechanic reminded me of tower-defense games :D
Sadly the game gets a bit boring as you always do the same thing, so a little variety in flowers types or even some more collectable items like the extra life you implemented could make the game much more replayable :)
Still, pretty good game, keep up the good work!
amazing music O: !! love it
Well-polished game! I like the gameplay, which really feels like you a bee) (you need to look for flowers) And the retro style is translated very well.
The hard part for me was the bee controls, however when you're used to it, it feels like you are drifting (so this part might be intentionally implemented this way).
An easy to understand mechanic and controls that made sense. And thank you for including a way to regain health. Simply put, a well crafted jam game. Great job and fun to play.
Cool interpretation of the theme, but the controls make the game hard a little, I feel like that's what's normal for it though, it would be boring if it was easier.
Enjoyed the gameplay! Thought there would be more variants of plants, nonetheless it's a good game :D
A really nice game, very fun to play. The slidey movement works well for the game, and the idea of reloading the flowers with pollen is great as well. I think this game can benefit a lot from an upgrade system, as it would really engage players a lot more. It could also benefit from a bunch more plant types. A slight issue was that the walls felt a bit buggy and sticky, but overall, a fun game. Good job!
Thank you! Yeah, we would have loved to add some upgrades and different flower types, might still do it after the jam... The borders are definitely something we'll tweak still, there's a couple of corners that can really be annoying. Still, glad you enjoyed it! :)
Very solid entry; the gameplay is fun, the music that plays during the level is very catchy, and it's an overall neat idea for a game. The only frustration I had with the game is the lack of i-frames after being hit. In both of my runs I died after losing 4-5 hearts at the same time from accidentally careening into a group of enemies, which felt a bit unfair given the style of movement. Aside from that though, great work!
Thanks! I totally hear you on the i-frames, it was one of the few things left on our to-do list and will definitely be added after the jam at some point. Thanks again for the feedback!
I like that the movement is complex, and the flowers' scaling gives good motivation to push further.
A really fun game! The music is especially beautiful and fits perfectly. The theme was well applied, and the gameplay feels engaging. I found controlling the bee a bit tricky at times, but I think with a controller it could provide a much smoother experience.
The game is really cool and the music really won me over.
This one was pretty simple but still had me intrigued! The idea is very nice, but at times I did find the bee kind of hard to control. I know it's probably part of the challenge, but when I'm hurtling towards a wall and an enemy comes out of nowhere to sneak attack me and I can't turn around in time, it does get a bit frustrating. Other then that, well done! :D
Hmm good point, the slippery movement doesn't match too well with the enemy spawning as-is... Thanks for the feedback!
Pretty fun and chaotic..
Great concept and really well done! Controls were a bit hard but honestly very on theme for a bee game!
Great concept and I really liked your art here! I do wish the controls were more responsive as I kept finding myself unable to really navigate in the space as it started to fill up with baddies. Thanks for making and sharing your game!
Enjoyed playing this one. The sprites are very appealing, and the core loop works well. The controls are a bit clunky as mentioned by others :) Great job.
Great game, I had a lot of fun playing it! The music fit perfectly with the vibe. The controls do feel a bit unusual at first, but honestly, I think they’re kind of part of the challenge, it’s hard to imagine the game working the same way without them. One thing I’d suggest is to be careful with the map edges: the top with the HP bar and the trees on the corners feel a bit odd, especially when enemies come from there and hit you before you can actually see them.
It would also be nice to have a few sound effects, especially when placing towers. Other than that, I really loved it! The art is cute, the gameplay concept is very creative, and everything feels nicely polished. Congrats!
Thanks a lot! Yeah, the border is a tricky bit that could use some modifications still for sure, thanks for the feedback :)
The controls were a bit tricky, which was fine for a game jam playthrough but it would feel a bit too slippery for playing hours and hours, hypothetically. Amazing game design overall and great job for your first Godot game! I hope you like it and look forward to seeing more of what you can do with godot!
Oh wooow a playtest video and everything, thanks for that and the feedback, it helps a ton! And yeah I'd say you had a great run too, nice job with the controls! We felt the heavy / slippery controls fit the bee character, but yeah, could definitely be toned down a tad hahah. We had a lot of fun with Godot actually, would for sure use for other game jams :)
