What do you like about your game?
My favorite feature is the main menu where UI is part of the scene. I also like the fun mixing creatures.

This is a very nice game. I really like the music and art, and the chimeramaker6.66 menu is awesome. The only thing is, there seems to be some kind of glitch when I click the Create button in the chimeramaker6.66 menu. It just keeps adding the stats of my current selection in the Project menu every time I click the Create button, and only resets back to normal when I click the Project button. I don't know if you've caught this glitch already, but I'd just like to make sure you know about it.

But the main gameplay is very fun. I played this game for like an hour and had a blast! Great game!

Thank you vm for your kind comments and for reporting those bugs. I already fix them as i am working on a more sucessful demo with GUI during the fight, chimera visual during his creation, skills, additional parts and so on. Sharing it after the jam of course.

Regarding those bugs, time was running out. This prototype is not polished in any way. I lost too much time thinking about the concept and how to implement my ideas. It is all about game jam :)

It's a very nice concept and it feels like you put a lot of work into all these options and creature parts. However, most of them were not available and I couldn't try them. Maybe I missed something, but even after I beat level 10, I didn't unlock any new part.

I also found a bug. I reached level 11, equipped with the gorilla arms and rhinoceros skin, and for some reason I was moving extremely fast backwards, so fast that I couldn't control it anymore. I think the reason is that I got so slow that my speed got far into the negatives.

Developer

Thank you Florian.

As you notice, I have not had the time to implement all the parts, skills and so on. I well know the bug you encountered. I am upgrading the prototype in order to make it more successful. Release is planned at the end of the jam.  In the game page you can have more details on what is available or not. Thank you again for trying my creation and taking time to provide me with feedbacks. Appreciate it a lot.

It's an interesting idea. I managed to reach level 5 but after that it becomes tiresome, as the speed of the character keeps decreasing and just reaching to the fight takes a while. The interface was very confusing as some parts say that are available but can't be assigned. Also, adding a modified part, and then adding in another place a human part makes the mutation counter decrease for some reason.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

As the level is unique, i did not think that players would play it that much. My initial idea was to change a bit the stage design and the boss for each levels (i haven't had enough time to do so, creating the design, the drawing, the animations, the boss concept and so on  took me a while).

The prototype is for sure far from polished and finished. Thank you to report me those bugs. At the end of the jam you will be able to test a more succesful game with more parts, bugs fixed, skills and so on.

Nice to see a form of character creator in the game - not seen that in any other Jam game so far...

I played the browser version and there were a few issues, such as the text being hard to read and also the options & exit items were really small on screen, I didn't know what they were.

I managed to create a character and went into the fight scenes. This was quite cool, I like the change in pace and environment. I found the combat to be a little confusing the start with, but got the hang on it after a while.

I enjoyed playing it, great job! :)

Developer

Thank you so much Ian.

The web version suffers from lags at start of the fight. I guess the problem is related to the creation for the first time of the particle effects. A possible solution is to create them at start of the game. But if so, it takes a while to launch it.

Hi, the menu is really cool. It's crazy that you managed to do a character creation system for a jam game. Bet you worked very hard on this. UI is really cool and the overall atmosphere fits quite well in your game.

Just a little side note, while fighting, I fell off the map by walking all to the right, really not that big of a deal, but I wanted to make sure you knew this.

You did a great job, I enjoyed playing it so much. Good luck with it! <3333

Thank you so much for your kind words.

I tried my best in order to create the most possible advanced prototype. Wasting too much time thinking about the game concept, I wasn't able to implement all the parts or skills, to polish the prototype and so on. Unfortunately, few bugs are still there and a few collision boxes are missing. Thank you to report me this specific issue.

FYI: at the end of the jam, I am gonna share a more successful prototype.

I will look forward to the updated prototype! :3333

Good luck with it <333

It's a very cool idea. Liked that idea of having menu as part of the scene, it works well for this game. Couldn't deliver a single blow to the enemy. I didn't quite understand where colliders were or how to time the attack. I wish having different parts would change animations too. Why would I need a weapon when I have guarilla arms?:)

Developer

Thank you for your time and comments!

You are right, depending on parts, some animations are different. Futhermore, additional skills (and their dedicated animation) are also unlocked.  At the end of the jam a more successful demo will be shared.

I am not aware about collision boxes issue. Thank you to share your feedback. Player's damaging area is just right in front of him. Where the sword slashes. This area is may be too small.  I need to check this feature.

Not bad, I see the potential in such a game

Gracias!

Reminds me of the old Flash game era, the UI design, the art style, and even the music. Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much. You get it, i am , indeed, wistful of those games.

Oh man...

:(

I really wanted to try such an awesome idea...

Sorry to read that. Can you try to swith opengl to directx. As i am using gpu particles effects, I guess this is the root cause of your problem.

In addition, only a windows version is available. I can create a linux one easily totally similar to the win one. I dont know if this could help you to try the game. Tell me if you want to try this. I will ask for this possibility with Acerola.

Submitted

I'd like to try, can I play a linux build using windows??

Developer

You can install linux on windows. I never try to do so. But it seems to work regarding tutorials on the web. Search "linux on windows" for more info.

I had some trouble with the game lagging and the scaling interface, so my gaming experience was not optimal, although I think that the concept beneath is very interesting; I talk about crafting a creature and then controlling it to fight. Good premise, original.

For the menu, I would place a clear PLAY/START button, as it took me a while to realise that the screen was the target I should click to play.

Is the player meant to have any power from the beginning? I was able to just dash and hit with my sword. It might be useful to place a small tutorial and give the creature some basic powers, so the player starts getting acquainted to use keys 1, 2, 3 and 4. Would do the thing with the creation interface; although he shouldn't be able to pick the most powerful limbs from the start, it would be great to be able to chose in between slightly stronger or faster arms, for example.

It is a personal thing that I hardly stand whistling, so beware that could drive some players mad xD It happened in my proposal, my techno music gets to repetitive, so I added an M key to switch music ON/OFF.

Developer(+1)

Unfortunatly, the web version suffers from lag during the first second of the boss fight. I guess this is due to the particle effects. A downloadable version is available if you want to plenty enjoy the demo.

Regarding the menu, I gave tips in the description to help the player. Because I have not had enough time to include a lighting for the computer screen (In order to clearly indicate the interaction).

The player can unlock up to 4 skills using dedicated mods. As i mentionned, time was running out , so no mods which unlock skills are implemented (my bad). I took a lot of time (too much for sure) thinking about this concept, the mods and their bonus.

By the way, you can also jump. Control the height of your jumps by releasing the key.

For the music, you can turn it off thanks to the options menu. You can also reduce the combat sound effects, the ambiant effects and the master volume. For this latter, using + and - keys allow you to control the volume. I am sad.. I try my best whitling the theme. (But ok, i admit it, this is weird :). But this is aberration gamejam.)

Thank you vm  for your time, giving me a nice and detailed feedbacks. That's really helpful.

i played till round 10, but i still can't unlock the lobster hand. I wanted that. This game was awesome and really put together. Very good game, i spent alot of time in it.

Developer

You can not unlock this mod. Codes were already done but I runned out of time to create the dedicated animations. I listed the available mods in the description for the prototype. Sorry for this inconvenience. I should have put a clear message within the demo. Thank you for your kind words.

I really wish there were more parts to play around because this whole concept is just so appealing to me! Splicing different creatures together is always a lot of fun and I can see the potential with this game.
Also the boss arena reminds me of that Kill Bill fight scene in the snow which is totally gorgeous.

Developer(+1)

Me too! Unfortunatly I haven't had time to add more. I submitted my prototype 1 minute before the end. All parts are already coded. But no time to draw all the dedicated animations. Thank you for your feedback. Kill Bill... what a movie!

Love the font! Very unique game

Developer

Thank you pulyau for your comment.

I chose this font (bodonimutant) because it seems like an addition of forms like the chimera. You can get it on this site for free https://www.dafont.com.

lol I fell of the edge of the world! Love the idea of making a weird chimera like thing to play as

Developer(+1)

Thank you dsamson.

Unfortunatly I haven't had the time to add more parts to play with. I lost a ton of time thinking about the concept and how to manage to concretely make real the idea. So, I only draw and animated human parts, the gorilla arms and (the easy one) the rhinoceros skin.
