Nice game inspired by the classic title Berzerk (Thief, Zerberk etc) but with a more modern touch!
I love the late 80s retro inspired graphics and the digitized voice, gives the game its own personality.
The Otto impersonator is crazy difficult to avoid, I suggest you run!!

I would like to see the game completed with more depth.
Keep up the good work!

Suggestions for improvement:
Tighten or reduce the collision/hit-boxes (you may often die before enemies/projectiles hit you)
Slower enemy shots? (maybe not needed if above is adjusted)
Add more depth (activate that shop/house everyone tends to try to enter, or give a message "shop closed, out for lunch!" or upgrades as faster move speed for 3 next screens, or faster shooting for 3 next screens or death, or purchase a change direction of Otto entrance left/right or slower moving Otto in drunk mode)

Thanks for the kind words and those suggestions ... they're actually some things I've already been thinking about. Worked on the code last night adding an Options menu screen where you can select which joyport to use. I've also tightened up the hit detection for the shuriken and monsters, need to look at the fence code next. Hope to have the new release out soon.

A great take on a classic, the aesthetic is a cool eastern style along with the throwback of using the synthesized voice, brilliantly done!

Very cool ninja setting and great looking pixel art. Fun speech samples. Gameplay was a little slow but once the eyes started shooting back they don't give you much time to dodge.

It's Bezerk and even has an evil Otto character!  Graphics in this game are really great and it looks quite retro modern.  Enjoyed it a lot.  Perhaps the collision detection could be a little more precise and it would be nice to see the eye balls die or explode?  Speech is a nice touch.  Good work!

Thanks. Yeah, I solved some of my hit detection stuff post-jam (of course the idea came to be after) ... so I'll fix that up later. I like the idea of exploding the monsters; I might add that.

This is great fun and I love the clean graphics style and colour palette. I found some walls could be a little off on hit detection - but I know: pot calling the kettle.... (My hit detection is worse!) I'd also suggest making the enemies have slightly smaller hitboxes as I found I killed them even when I thought I'd pretty much missed, just lightly grazed them. Minor details though, great game, nicely polished presentation.

Hahaha "KILL THE NINJA" I was not expecting the synth voice, that was a nice touch. The graphics look so good and the gameplay was fun. I didn't realize I had to run away from the cyclops and keep standing my ground unloading shuriken before realizing I had to run away like a "COWARD" LOL
