Nice mini strategy/sandbox game with a bit of a SimCity vibe.
The single screen limitation allows you for better focus and to use your real-estate wisely.
Simplistic visuals that live up to their point! Nice in-game music.

I do believe the game is not fully developed to reach its full potential and I am anticipating to see future updates. This game looks like it could evolve into a gem!
Please keep up the good work!

Suggestions (you may probably already have plans for these, but I will mention them anyway):
Add some logic that would require roads to be all connected through to reach center building.
Keep the road icon enabled even after building 1 road, only allow disable with right click.
Allow destroying of buildings and roads.

Really quite addictive! I had some graphical glitches running on uae on an a1200 setup, but on my real hardware (1200/030@50) it works fine. I didn't 100% understand what I was doing but I've started to get the hang of it, would be nice to be able to build roads in multiples rather than one tile at a time, though I could just be doing it wrong. Cracking music too, great effort all round!

Developer

Thanks for trying it out and thanks for the compliments! Sadly I cannot take credit for the music as it's a public domain mod that was created before the gamejam and I really shouldn't have included it in hind-sight as it's a bit against the spirit of it, I'll have to learn amiga music composition and right that wrong I think!

I've had some funky behaviour on my accelerated Amiga 500 myself, but a stock one seems to play better with blitz basic games

I agree that it really could've used a better explanation on how to play, quite a few of the rules that are implied are also not fully implemented so it makes it even harder to learn the game as you're not really getting feedback to what the player is doing, being able to drag-build roads like in Simcity is also a good suggestion and one I should implement!

I'll be working on an update to fix a couple of these issues as I really would like to expand and extend the game as much as possible!

nice. Yeah I wouldn't worry about using some pd music, I think those kind of assets it's fair to use in a jam, it's a coding jam after all, people use ai generated art, so I think it's fine :)

Your logo is really nice, as are the menus and the building gfx. I am really bad at these types of games. Not sure I got the hang of road building. I placed a bunch of stuff and everything seemed to work well even though I wasn't sure exactly what was happening. I feel this is a good game with a bit more guidance to the player.

Developer

Thanks, the building graphics are a little out of my comfort zone but the build menu in particular I'm very happy with!

I completely agree that more guidance to the player would've really helped the game shine, as well as being able to implement more of the gameplay I had intended to complete as without more restrictions/feedback it's hard to figure out what you should be doing, but sadly I just ran out of time, I'm sure a lot of us would've been happy with one more day!

Road building is something that can certainly be improved, an ability to draw full lines of roads and alternative graphics for how they connect are certainly in the list of improvements I hope to make in the coming weeks!

Several times of playing the game, I understood 3 params for creating unit. Still not sure how to increase B.vrs. But other than that, I can create town. I hope I can re-do when I put a unit to wrong place. Also, if I can create something 2x2 unit, I could fill empty place in the map :) Anyway, I enjoyed to play the game! Great works.

Thanks for playing, unfortunately because I left everything so last minute I never got around to being able to destroy buildings, in the updated version I've made for after the GameJam submissions are over I've already implemented it, but I really should create an in-game help or something similar as nothing is really explained in game and quite a few people are having trouble with it, as it's not self explanatory.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I like to play building games, but i had problems to understand this game :-/
But my 10y old son played it for 45 minutes and he seems to have fun to try everything.

It was also funny that each building only needs one piece of road.... The streets don't seem to need to be connected at all

Developer

Thanks for playing, I did sadly really need a proper in-game or included explanation of the game mechanics as it's not as self-explanatory as I kinda hoped, some things to fix for in between now and the next Jam I guess!

The one piece of road, darn, guess you found how I was avoiding the complexity of pathfinding along the roads! :P
