Nooooo. I loved the game, but I could not get past the second level with that radioactive pool! It just seemed like the character could not jump far enough. Give me some coyote time or extend that jump just a little bit! Otherwise awesome fun game with great animations, dialog boxes and even some fun humor!

Developer

If you couldn't make the jumps, then you might not have been holding shift, since that's the run button and it's pretty difficult to make a lot of the jumps without it.  Even with it, though, I could understand if the jumps were kind of difficult.

Thanks for the review, though, glad you enjoyed the first bit of the game.

I loved the art! The audio was fitting. The game went beyond one bit; it felt one bit (Awesome job!). The movement felt a bit heavy. I liked how wall jumping was a main mechanic (Good job!). I liked the intro a ton. I did not think the game was that creative or theme relativity (You had sections of theme relativeness.) Overall great job, and keep it up!

I love the animations on the characters. In terms of things like dialogue and level screens, the game has a lot of polish for a 3 day jam. Great work.

Developer

Thanks , I'm glad you liked it.

Very nice presentation, not so nice controls. The reload speed could stand to be faster as well.

Sound didn't play for me, alas, but that could be because I used the Safari browser (Chrome crashes my computer for some reason).

The visuals are what's truly standout here; very very solid art and an excellent variety of it, especially the expressions. The writing was also very good and fun. Calling out unusual nuclear waste facility procedures made me laugh. Just tinker with the mechanics a bit and you'll have something really special here. Good work!

Yeah idk why the sound didn't play, that's pretty weird.

Thanks for the review, glad you liked the visuals.

Don't know how you managed to fit in level animations and dialogue in such little time! Good job

Developer(+1)

Thanks, glad you liked it.

This game is really good, it is well polished and the character's and art look great. I enjoyed the dialogue too. The only real problem I had was the wall jump mechanic could've used some improving but other than that, it was great

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

The main menu , transitions between scenes were good.
I didn't find a quit/ menu button when i deliberately pressed the w key and even when playing.
Wall jumps were not that good.

Developer

Thanks for the review.

Yeah, the game doesn't have an in-game menu, although I don't really know why you would need one. W is a debug key I left in by accident that teleports you further into the level, it doesn't open a debug menu or anything if that's what you mean.

Personally, I don't like long dialogues between the characters... but I guess this is just about personal preferences.

I've read the "Don't press 'W'" warning too late... I thought it was part of the game and it took me a bit to realize that something was going on: I was sincerely convinced that I was somehow guessing the right moment to jump between some kind of a multi-dimensional world...

(know that I've written this, I feel something stupid) :D

I loved the animation of the characters face.

As stated by others, there's something on the platforming dynamics that may need some fine-tuning.

But overall definitely well done! :)

Developer

Yeah, leaving the debug key in was my bad, I put it in at the last second and just totally forgot to take it out when uploading the game.

Thanks for the feedback on other areas, and I'm glad you liked the game overall.

Wow this game not only looks great but also has a story to it.
I like how even the face is animated.
I also actually wanted to implement something similar to your flashlight thing. Really liked the idea.
The music is also quite fitting. It helps setting the mood.
Good job!

Gameplay wise I found the platforming/jumping really awkward as well. Not sure why though.
Probably a little less friction and more speed and jump height needed? Crossing the spikes in the nuclear power plant was quite frustrating.
Also I kept pressing W by accident and was skipping entire sections of the game. I guess you just forgot to remove that debug keybind before deploying the game.

Developer (3 edits)

Oh shoot, yeah, W was a debug key I forgot to remove.

Sorry you didn't like the platforming, apparently I haven't nailed down satisfying jump physics yet.  Holding Shift to run should've made him fast enough to cross all gaps though, although even with that there are still  a few tricky jumps.

Well, thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed the art and atmosphere.

Great art, decent sound, awkward platforming
