We'll keep this post up-to-date with known issues. If you have any issues running the game or encounter problems during gameplay, let us know here - if you have a crash, the game produces an error.txt file which would help in diagnosing it, so please post some of the error.txt text with your post if that happens, thanks!

Current known crash bugs:

  • If the profile file (gamePath/.toa-data/profile.json) cannot be created on the game's first load because it's in an admin-protected folder or is being accessed by another program (Dropbox folders being a major source of this - you can use selective syncing to fix that issue at least) - the game will crash.  One option is to manually create the folder with the file - the file's contents should be {"enemyKnowledge": { } }
  • Some machines have an issue running the Win64-bit version of the game - solved by downloading the Win32-bit version.
  • Some machines seem to have issues when they don't have an OpenGL 2.0 compatible video card driver. No solution currently.

We'll keep this up to date with any crash bugs or odd behavior that we're unable to reproduce/fix in the following version.  The old thread has been archived so that it's easier to search for your issue here!

Hey!  Have you tried using a file/app manager?

It wouldn't let me install it either. I've tried using a file manager and tried moving it to the SD card, but it still doesn't install.

I'm having the same issue. It's downloading from the site, but it seems to hit a snag at installation. I use an LG model phone. It's powered by android. I also used a Galaxy Amp Prime because the Android is kind of outdated.

I'm using a Galaxy S5.

Alright - this should be resolved! Reproduced the error and reuploaded the apk; seems the original upload corrupted it.  Can install on my phone now.  :D

I tried to download it on my Moto Z and it wouldn't work.  Said the app wasn't installed, and hat it couldn't parse the package.

Having same issue parsing the APK on google pixel XL and android 10

Whenever I try to extract the Win32 files from rar I always seem to get a notification for several corrupted files. I've tried repairing it, but that doesn't seem to help at all.

This is an issue because itch.io has a bug in their upload-via-dropbox functionality that seems to corrupt rars, so it's a roll of the dice whenever we upload a new version; in the future we'll do the straight file upload so this shouldn't happen anymore.  I've fixed the others this time, but apparently Win32 was still borked - I'll reupload it.  Thanks!

hey I tried downloading this was recommended to me by a "friend" what do i need to provide to help find the problem preventing it from starting up

Hey - are you extracting the whole rar?  What OS are you using?  Does it simply fail to launch?  What if you try to run the .jar file?

ok im using windows 7 home premium

i extract it using winrar (nvr had any issues with it)

the .jar file starts loads and then just crashes the application just doesn't  even start i grabbed the 32 bit version as im on a 32 bit system i can provide the crash log from the .jar version. is there an email i send the txt log and the screenshot of the msg i get when i try to run the application

Game won't launch. It keeps crashing.  Is there an email I can send the error log to?

Solved by creating a shortcut to the "Tales of Androgyny.jar" file and runing it as admin.  The exe file doesn't work for some odd reason.

I'm not sure whether you are still there, but how DO I create a shortcut?

Not sure if this is a problem only with my computer, but after dying and keep playing to get everything in the game. The game starts to chug my computer something ferce. It's like the longer the game runs the more things start too lag.

I have noticed an issue with the android version.  The buttons at the bottom of the screen (rest, camp, save, level up, etc.) do not work.  I attempt to push them to no avail. Nothing happens when I do so.

you're either missing the button or there's a grid location underneath where you're touching

I am also having this problem. I am running version 0.1.24 on a Galaxy Tab 2 with Android 6.0.1. In the map view, the game does not respond to pressing or dragging anywhere in a roughly-inch-width band on the top and bottom of the screen. However, the lower-left buttons do respond to taps about an inch above where the buttons appear to be. Since there are filler bands on the top and bottom of most other screens, I imagine those bands just are not being rendered in the map view, stretching the screen and pulling the buttons' apparent locations away from where they actually are. Oddly, the selectable locations on the map itself seem unaffected.

It's possible - one issue we have on all versions is that if a clickable encounter overlaps a button, clicking or touching that encounter will cause nothing to happen - not the button to activate, as you'd expect.

I'm having trouble extracting the game onto windows, making it not able to open it and I tired both 64 and 32

You're extracting the rar, which gives you a folder called "Tales of Androgyny Win64 v0.1.23.0", and then you're trying to run it?  Try running TalesOfAndrogyny.jar.

In 1.23, I checked the pre-load option and restarted the game, only for it to crash during pre-loading around 20%, a message saying "Couldn't load file: battle/ForestBG.jpg" coming up.
Edit: Tried a second time, with a different message coming up saying "Couldn't load dependencies of asset: enemies/GolemFuta.png"

Also I tried deleting and redownloading the game to try to find a way around it, but it still has the pre-load option ticked I guess, so unless if I can find a way to change it through editing a config or wherever it may be, I effectively cannot play at the moment.

Hey, if you're on Windows, to fix this, go to Users/<YourUser>/.prefs and open "tales-of-androgyny-preferences" in a text editor (notepad).  Then change <entry key="preload">true</entry> to <entry key="preload">false</entry>

uh.. guys? happened before smooching the slime (the non catamite option), instead of giving me 2 exp.. that

restarted the game (since it crashed) and pressed "continue" then... welp

I believe this has been fixed in the most recent version - at least, I can't reproduce it in the bleeding edge build.

I've should've posted here but I found why the OpenGL error is happening, i've found the cause, i've included a work around and a way to fix it. To sum up why it's happening libgdx doesn't support OpenGL lower than 2.0.

Thanks, yep, libgdx doesn't support earlier versions of OpenGL.

I am stuck fighting the ghost forever because my mana is empty and the ghost's mana is also empty. So we're both casting spells with no mana. Also when Ghost mount or does oral on you, the ghost stop immedietly(this may be intentional but if it wasn't now you know). So i can't "sex" my way through it either.

Hello, you can help me whith my small problem? I'm tried translate your game in Russian language for yourself, but i can't understand how are working text in the game.  As I understand it, the game only recognizes English, but I want to change this, but I do not know how.

Hi there - the problem is that our font doesn't currently display the Cyrillic alphabet.  We'll have to add Cyrillic characters in for them to be displayed properly - you can see from that screenshot that our font also doesn't have an @ symbol.

Tried both x86 and x64 versions, ran the .exe and .jar, tried the shortcut method, and admin rights. Same error during any run. Other Java based apps/games (e.g. via the .jar) work fine.

Hey, that's interesting, that's an error in libgdx - I'll take a look at it, but I suspect it's something weird with your audio driver.

Yup, 7.1 sound setup was the case. I switched to the 2.0 option (of the same audio card output, via the Windows' playback devices) - and the game loaded without a flaw.

Tried other different audio outputs (like AC3 passthrough, HDMI, ect) - all of them are working in 2.0 (on the same sound card).

don't know if this is what the OP saw. but I'm seeing a code 1 error as well, with this in the log:

[launch/native] err: dlopen(jre/lib/jli/libjli.dylib, 1): image not found

[launch/native] err: Error: failed to load VM runtime library!

Same error on Linux, fixed it by downloading and extracting whole Java Runtime from website.

Extract it to "jre" folder in the game location, you should see matching folders inside as "lib", "bin" and whole bunch of text files.

hello sticky i need help playing the andriod version because it doesnt allow me to move forward after charecter select. Is it supposed to do that?

Hello, I'm seeing is a tiny issue that I think is not meant to be that way, I'm playing at the Win64.rar (and noticed this since like 2 or 3 public build ago), the thing is that the save function is not really working, whenever I exit the game it auto-saves whether it's on game overcase or just few steps before where I did save, making me start over again. I'm running it in Windows 10 home, not sure what evidence I can provide since there's no error box or something like that but let me know if there's any useful to you, thank you in advance.

Hey, if you're having problems with the manual saves - hit "Load", not "Continue".  Continue will load the most recent autosave, which seems to be what you're running into.

Hi!I need help with playing the game.Every time i run it through the Aplication,it doesn't run,and i never found the TalesOfAndroginy.jar.I'm playing on Windows 7 32 Bits version.

TalesOfAndrogyny.jar is in the same folder as TalesOfAndrogyny.exe - the game won't run without it!

But where do i find the file?

I think i've found it,but the PC is recognizing it as a WinRAR file

You may need to download java - but if you have the jre folder there as well, you shouldn't need to.  .jar files are likely registered with winrar, since they're a type of archive.

Play in ur game on Android and have small issue - can't hide menu when battle is complete (tab button on PC) to see a full picture.

Yep, pretty soon we're going to make sure that every option that's currently only available as a keystroke (tab, alt, or ctrl) will be available via touch/click - and then eventually vice versa.  :D

so i posted this but in another thread, sorry i didnt saw the bug thread tehee~ anyway. When i try starting the game on android it crashes at 54% or something. I have an LG Q10

Still having crashes on 1.2.6 with Android during initial load, even when downloading with es file manager

the armor addon must be reworked. it makes the encounters almost impossible.

i tried a thief ( my favorite class ) and can't even touch any foe i encountered( wereslut, unicorn and brigand ) whatever i tried.

i tried a warrior after that, with 7 point in strength. i couldn't beat the wereslut, she killed me and she lost only 5 HP

tried a mage. the only way to beat any foe is to use incantations

foe's armor give them invicibility when it should just reduce the damages

and if the only way is to put 8 point in strength, so why making 6 classes? especially when all attacks use the strength ability

the new update is totally unbalanced.


other issues ( from the previous updates)

the third encounter with a wereslut make a game over, what ever your stats are, and whatever the result of the fight. it makes no sense. a winning fight shouldn't give a game over.


as the golem encounter require magic, you should add a magic perk, that could replace well rounded


the bunny attack the character every step, even after we pay, that makes no sense. she should leave after gaining back the money

You can break the opponent's armor - not sure what problems you're running into.  The enemy armor scores were reduced in the next version, but the durability remains the same - so in either case it should be possible (even with a thief with 3 Strength) to just break their armor.  You can use the Armor Crusher skill for this, but honestly it's possible with any of the stronger attacks like Power Attack.

Not all fight are won by reducing the enemy to 0 HP - this is a porn game, after all.  This was changed in the next version - and even in this one, it's not regardless of your stats - beating the Werewolf with a (current) strength under 5, she'll leave you alone.  It's only for characters with 5+ (now 8+ in the newer version) that need to defeat her some other way to avoid getting knotted by her.

There'll definitely be magic items and other ways to fight the Ghost - the Golem fight doesn't require magic.

for the golem, it's not for the fight, but the control  and other options that require at least 3 magic points


and for the armor, the problem is it's not possible to wound the opponent before breaking it.

i tried to fight a harpy, and used what you recomanded ( armor crush ) and destroyed the armor, but after, even without armor, this attack didn't dealt any damage.

the problem is high attack destroy the upper armor, but can't deal damages until the lower armor is destroyed.

the opposite is true, obviously.

and middle attacks don't destroy armors, nor deal any damage as long as any piece of armor is still wore

this made 3/4 of the attack skill useless

my favorite attack is uppercut, and it deals no damage from now.


you should make some attack to deal damage, whatever the armor level is, fit heavy payback after.


in the previous version, i found the fights too easy. now i find them laborious


edit: in fact, i found the real problem: foes don't care about the character's armor, and inflict direct wounds

That's just not the way the combat system works - middle and high attacks both hit upper armor, and if an enemy's chest is bare (either because they had no upper armor to begin with or it was destroyed), the attack isn't affected by any armor, even if they're wearing leg armor.  You don't have to destroy both.   And enemy attacks are just as subject to armor as character's are.

playing on pc, windows, pretty good desktop and i got a fatal error:

cant play the game anymore even after re extracting, ig i could try redownloading, tho ofc since thats temporary and id likely barely get 30 min into the game again, best just to wait till u fix these errors i keep getting, got around 10 others types 1 every few min, love ur game but i hope itll b playable again in a month or 2. :( even tho i waited 2 months already to play a new update and nvr even got far enough in to do shit all >_<

Whenever I try to open the Windows version with utorrent it just says "Can't open Tales of Androgyny Win64rar: unknown error!" (this also happens with the Win32rar version)

With utorrent?  Just curious: why are you trying to open it with utorrent?  To open a .rar, you'll need an archiver like 7zip or WinRAR.

Я решил поставить игрушку на планшет GALAXY TAB KT961 PRO (Android 6 ) 
Загрузите из игры патрона, учтановил, но столкнулся с проблемой, игра загружена, но 100% появляется черным экраном и идет на рабочий стол. На рабочем столе окно игры остается, но когда нажимается окно, игра загружается на новом и так далее по кругу.
Что бы это могло быть ?

You have to allocate all your stat points - click on the little gems to assign them.

when I download it. it say's it's a vidoe file

On windows i get an error that says jvm.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. And on android when i get to 74% the game crashes. This only happened after the latest update.

yeah its windows it happens to either one I download. I downloaded it on my tablet it will get to 74 percent then it crashes it wont fully pull up

I download the file on my 32bit version. Then I extract it with winrar into a new folder.

Inside it i got respectively :

-"jre" folder

-"Changelog" text 

-"config.json" json i guess

-"TalesofAndrogyny" small exe file that I cant open because "not meant to be opened in windows or missing something"

"TalesofAndrogyny" large (Winrar compressed?) file

What am I supposed to do now? I can't start it in anyway, i got java installed and no matter what I do, I cant even find anything to get this thing running. I'm a massive autist so pls dont bully for stupid.

Did you extract the entire archive into a directory?  You should have TalesOfAndrogyny.exe, TalesOfAndrogyny.jar, config.json and a jre folder all next to each other.

I downloaded it from the itch application you can download on the itch website, but I'll try downloading from a browser this time

Hi there - you may need to update your video card drivers.  If not, try running the .jar instead of the .exe, particularly with an older version of java, as that seems to be the problem for certain old video cards.

Android Tablet - it can be really hard to click on the map locations because the spot to click is never where it should be (could be left, right, above, or below the dot). 

It's not just the map locations but almost every button isn't where it's shown to be (usually the button is shown to be lower than where you need to click).

Error on linux "org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: No modes available"

This is caused by lwjgl 2.xx not properly parsing odd xrandr display mode lines.  Example of accepted modeline "1920x1080" where as it would not accept  "1920x1080_60.00"

User end solution :

Create a compatible display mode using xrandr. First use "gtf" command to find correct modeline settings and edit as needed. Then using previously mentioned modeline use "xrandr -- newmode", "xrandr --addmode" and "xrandr --output" to create and use the mode.


Dev end solution:

Does not seem to be easily fixable without switching to lwjgl 3, since problem is probably rare individual use of user end solution would likely be optimal.

Hi, I'm playing the last version out and when I hit the save button the game reports that the game is saved, but the name of the save slot doesn't change and whe I exit and enter again my save file is lost.

I tried redownloading the game and the bug persists. Is it only me or has this been reported before? If so, how do I fix it?

Oh hey guess I found a softlock! Getting Ms. Werewolf into the missionary position and then wrapping your legs around causes you to only have the option to receive infinitely dropping the werewolf's stability deep into the negatives. I am actually gonna see how far negative this goes shortly but as thats really not important I thought I should share the softlock itself 

Edit: I thought I should mention a few details, running mostly a seduction enchantress build. I am on the latest free version. I was intentionally looking for this sort of thing so I was engineering situations that might be unusual. The neither character is taking damage so I am unable to die. The process largely is just a boring loop, but eh I was kinda expecting this sort of thing when I went looking for this stuff.

alright so i have been following you for a long time and not complaints so far but when your 0.1.28.0 public update came out i havent been able to get either the win64 or win32 files to extract and when i extract any other rar file other then ToA it works fine can you please check if its corrupt or if something else is wrong

After download I cant seem to be able to extract the program to a folder. After clicking on "Extract files..." and choosing its location this is all that appears. 

After choosing your butt and lip size I can't start the game

Missing libjvm.so:

On launch, the script can't find libjvm, and so fails. The problem is that the jre directory hasn't been copied correctly, at least for the linux install.

Workaround:

For the current version, make sure you have opendjk-8-jre installed and then do the following.

It happened when backtracking I ran into a tile for "strange person" an accepted their proposal. 

Not sure how to get the save file for the game but I made one immediately before it happened and I can reproduce it every time.

So i downloaded the newest version of tales of androgyny and when i unzip is with win rar and click the application ad nothing happens i was wondering if there was anything i can do to fix that or is the program bugged.

Made a profile so I could post this, but the apk build I downloaded (off itch.io) for the April 1st update reset my game to a much older version of the game.

It had the old map, no class-specific costumes, and the werewolf sprite wasn't even animated yet.

Which is disappointing, because I was looking forward to meeting the mermaid. :'(

Was this intentional, for April fool's?

Can't get the current version open on Mac, the structure of the Rar is corrupt and can't be expanded. Was able to download and install it through Itch, but I get a fatal error when trying to open it, so no real difference.

How are you extracting the archive?  It's a RAR5 compressed file, so you may need to use a different (or more updated) tool.

Actually, I managed to get it working. It was odd: I couldn't extract it via Stuffit, and I couldn't run the game through Itch. But downloading and installing the game through Itch and then going directly into the files, finding the .jar and running that seems to work.

A bit of a weird solution, but it works, and the game runs with no hiccups, so I can't complain. It's pretty fun so far, well done. The 'bad endings' can be a bit sudden an unpredictable for a new player (which can cost a lot of time without frequent saves) and can feel a bit unfair, but overall the game is solidly programmed, nicely done.

Hello, so it isnt letting me open up the .rar folder. Could you possibly zip the contents so we didnt have to use the .rar opener all together?

I'm on a laptop running Windows 10. I was able to download previous versions of the game and play it fine, but this time, when I download either the 32 or 64 bit version, my RAR opener will not open it. I even tried downloading a new opener in case mine was glitched but it still wouldn't open. Any ideas?

The game runs fine for me, but it is DEVOURING my memory.

The longer the game runs the more memory it is using.

It isn't even that big of a problem until it gets to the seven gig mark and everything just grinds to a halt.

It has been like this for every version I can remember, including public build v0.1.29.0.

It looks like the exe doesn't run. A friend of mine ran the windows version while I ran the linux version. We both had java installed and running correctly. But running the exe or the application file in Linux and Windows doesn't work. And yes, on Linux I made sure to give it permission to run as an application.

This can be easily troubleshooted by running the .jar file directly. In fact, I'm currently unaware why the executable files are necessary.

The executables run with the jre that is packaged, and are meant to be less confusing to users not used to seeing jar files and for users that don't have a local java install.  They do run normally, though they may not be working with particular configurations.

Delete your .toa-data/profile.json file and that should fix it - looks like you're downgrading the version.

I'm having issues, whenever I start the app (I'm on a tablet) it crashes after I finish character creation. No warning or anything just crashes. Any idea on how to help.

There is still an old bug with the harpy oral sex scene. a lot of the time when you are blowing the harpy it doesn't show the oral images. Been going on for a while, is this intended or is it a bug?

I've got a minor bug. During the ghost encounter, if she falls down she becomes stuck in the prone stance and she's unable to get back up. She keeps casting incantation but it has no effect. If you're unable to deal damage to her your only option becomes to surrender otherwise you're stuck in a never ending fight.

TIARA_OF_CONTROL seems to exists in code, but is found nowhere.
There is a second Helm of Wisdom in the monster shop. Which I suspect it's the Tiara of Control mistakenly added, otherwise I'd continue to think Tiara of Control exists under strange conditions.

Infuriates you, eh? Relax, it's a video game.  Anyway, goblins are only satisfied if you're full of cum, or after topping you anally 5 times, and only submit if they've anally ejaculated three times. The tiara wasn't added yet, because there's no where to get it, but I'll add it to the witch's shop if people want to try it on.  

You'll never be able to get impregnated by two goblins - that's not how goblin reproduction works. And if you want to see changes, getting mad at us is counterproductive.

I'm not actually that mad about it, just that it felt like an oversight and it was the first thing I tested out. 'Who knows' was hardly a 'Not Goblins' It was vague enough that it was a possibility to either case of design choice.

Warlock's new artwork wasn't used in 'Love Ass-sex' I've also noticed.

On Goblins: That explains it then. Doggy-Style skills at the lowest possible Charisma stat of 1 is able to make them submit within four rounds but Nelson/Grapples lack the charisma boosted skill. The only skill that isn't able to make them cum repeatedly at every turn is the standard 'Pound' skill.

On Warlock: Well even if it's just a place-holder I still liked the presence of it being there.

The Android version stops working whenever I enable Preload and I have to delete my data to fix it

So ever since public version (2.01.0) I have been unable to even download the game. I have tried doing so with Chrome, IE, and Firefox and none of them can complete the download. They make the attempt, but after a certain percentage is complete the download fails and cannot proceed further. This issue has carried itself over to version (2.02.0),

Alright so I just confirmed I have 2.29 GB of free space. When I attempt to download via Chrome it reliably halts at 40mb and then fails. When using Firefox it inconsistently fails but when it does complete and I unpack the files the executable is unresponsive. Internet Explorer reliably finishes the download but runs into the same issue of an unresponsive executable.

Try running the .jar rather than the .exe, but if the .exe is unresponsive, make sure all the files have been extracted.

I tried to download the new update on my android s7, was told it was unable to parse the package. Had already deleted previous download of the game, now unable to play.

The game refuses to start for me. As in, I click on it, and NOTHING happens.

Some machines seem to have issues when they don't have an OpenGL 2.0 compatible video card driver. No solution currently.

Werewolf dialogue for Church NPC not triggering

No matter how many werewolves I encounter she always just says "I do not believe in them." or something like that. I even finished the second Brothel quest, so there is a Werewolf right next door and she still doesn't believe in them. All the other dialogue options changed when I encountered said creature, so this seemed like a defect.


Losing to Urka while sparring is treated as losing the initial fight

If you lose to Urka while sparring it talks about other people being there even though it should only be the two of you there. I don't know if the code is actually pointing to the same scene, but having a different version that doesn't reference the other people seems like an easy thing to do.


Skip is skipping choices

Holding down the skip key is also fast forwarding through some points where you should need to select a choice. Specifically I remember it skipping the Centaur Camp invitation a few times. I do not know which choices it selected when doing so. P.S. I would personally really like it if skipping also stopped at Skill Checks too.


Ongoing Memory Issues

Running the 64 bit version on a Windows 7 system causes memory issues. The longer it runs the more memory it takes. At one point it was taking up 8 gigs of memory on my system. Is this the known bug "Some machines have an issue running the Win64-bit version of the game - solved by downloading the Win32-bit version."? If so, you might want to clarify it there.

When I run the .exe it appears: C: \ Users \ Win7 \ Downloads \ compressed \ Tales of Androgyny Win32 v0.2.02.0 \ jre \ bin \ server \ jvm.dll was not written to run on windows or contains an error.

When trying to execute .jar it opens and in less than 1 second disappears. when .jar does this the game creates a hs_err_pid and does not open.

I have this same problem and i have no idea how to fix it and every update made it more laggy on my tablet cause more content means more requirements so I cant play it on either.

I ran across these bugs on the newest version.

Mount Xiuh did not spawn anywhere on the map.

Were wolfs stopped spawning, so I could not finish the second brothel quest.

I was fighting ,the brigand I believe, and they fell down on the same turn they grappled me. But even though they were on the ground, I still had to take a couple turns to break out of the grapple.

Popping this out so it's not a reply to a 288 day old thread. :-)

I'm seeing a code 1 error on macOS (High Sierra), with this in the log:

[launch/native] err: dlopen(jre/lib/jli/libjli.dylib, 1): image not found

[launch/native] err: Error: failed to load VM runtime library!
