You know a game is good when you pull out your notebook and start taking notes.
It has to be said that the art is incredible and the music is fantastic. I often times feel during these gamejams that a game's music gets not nearly enough praise especially if it was made by a dedicated composer / audio designer. I love the fact that the game gives you no hints, which is also very fitting for the eldritch ancient magic theme you're going for. The actions were fun to figure out, but the final expected outcome was a bit unintuitive, I initially expected that I had to max every card out. Really good game!
Hey all!
I'm the sound designer for our game "The Big Backstage Show", I've worked exclusively on composing the music and sound design for our game during the jam. Once the theme of a TV game show was established I was instantly filled with cool and exciting ideas to start composing.
I'm curious if you guys have found any games with outstanding audio design or just a catchy soundtrack in general, or are you a composer yourself and want to share your work, feel free to comment! I would love to check it out!

So far from what I've played it's probably Storage Secrets by FathomQuest Games, https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-11/rate/2525633
I was engaged all the way through and the ending sealed the deal for me
I gave this another try since the virus issue has been resolved. I love the aesthetic and being fan of games like the case of the golden idol, I was really excited to read and solve all kinds of puzzles. But am I mistaken that in order to progress I need to buy the steam version of the game? Because that is what I make of the info the game gives me.
Booted the game, jumped, hit my head and died instantly, laughed my ass off, did the same thing again, credits rolled
No but seriously I like the vibe that you are going for, some environmental story telling as to why you are in this liminal space or what is going on here would make it super interesting to explore, great work!
For our game The Big Backstage Show we drew inspiration from popular television gameshows such as Family Feud, Weekend millionaire, Take Your Pick. The framework of a (game) host and contestants on stage is a staple in all these shows. But our game let's you place the prizes behind the doors, the part you never get a see on television and that is exactly where we could really improvise and put a lot of creativity in.
As per the music / sound of the game (which I dedicated this jam to), once the setting of a gameshow was established I knew that we needed a live performance band as you see on late night shows. I started making a roster of which instrument the band consists and after began composing the catchy main theme. Just like Family Feud, or any gameshow for that matter you need to hook the audience with an overly dramatic, energetic and most of all catchy song that characterizes the show. From there I started working on the background music, which are more mellow and jazzy to not take the listeners attention away from what is happening on stage.

Figuring out the commands was really cryptic, but after painfully figuring out the first room I got really into it. The escape rooms are fun to figure out, although the hints are a little too on the nose at times. It could use more consistency and help with the syntax of certain actions, but I beat it and I enjoyed it!
Hi all!
Very exited to be part of the game jam once again! As per title, I'm looking for a team me and a friend can join, preferably an existing team with previous game jam experience. I've been a music / sound producer for the last 2 game jams together with a friend who knows his way in Unity. I can help your team by iteratively developing music, ambiance, sounds and refining it based on feedback by the team.

This jam I spent most of my time producing background music as well as sound effects to fit our game about a flock of fireflies trying to restore light to the world. I tried creating a bit of a melodical, yet ominous sounding soundtrack to compliment the cautionary gameplay of navigating a dark maze.
I started out with the main theme by creating a "sound scape", this is a method where you start combining different instruments that fit the "enchanting" theme I was going for. I settled on a piano melody with backing pluck sounds, supported by a heavy "reese" bass line. To add a little bit of progression I added some cello's that fill up the lower chords. Once I settled on these core instruments I started laying out the melody, progression of the trackand drums.
To create extra tension when the player is entering the "crystal cave", which is kind of like a harder level 2, I added an upbeat drum loop that aims to the speed the listener perceives the song. This part is easily my favourite part of the OST.
Our team was really focussed on creating a perfect mix of music, sound, art and lighting effects to create the perfect atmosphere that the player could get immersed in. Working together and combining the efforts of the programmers and graphical artist, we managed to create a truly unique experience.
Are you a sound designer and want to share your experience working on this gamejam, or are you interested to pick up sound design in the future? Leave a comment and share your experience, I would love to hear your story!

The game design of this game is amazing, the mechanics work great, the modular level design is great and encourages replayability, the power ups keep you trying again and again to reach deeper depths. Even the little things as the obstacles moving and the speed boost of the bubbles just add to the character this game has. It is the constant stream of decision making: "Do I got for the bubble or the pearl, maybe I have to go back up to get a bubble above me, should I enter this cave or should I dive further down" that really impressed me and kept the game engaging. One issue I had was on max diving deeper, I got stuck in a rock multiple times, but that didn't hinder my overall enjoyment of the game. Great job!
