that was actually the initial idea. but time constraints prevented me from implementing it ;u;

Apparently for some reason the game doesn't work on firefox browsers, I'm trying to find ways to fix it but for now you can download the game or play in a different browser. apologies for the inconvenience :(

free my man bob from this eternal loop of dancing hell!

overall very basic but i love the presentation!  and the moral implications they're putting bob through

i would love to see this in a more polished state,  but overall good job for your first game jam!

my hand hurts from stirring the perpetual stew but i enjoyed my time! though i eventually just skipped through everyone's dialogue when they were interrupting precious stew stirring hours.

only gripe is that its a bit difficult clicking the ladel in the heat of it all, wish the hitbox to click the ladel was bigger.

man this game took me by surprise, i did not expect the twist to go that way at all. overall enjoyed this game a lot even though it gets too overwhelming for me by the second time loop.

the game loop was interesting and given more polish i can see this concept being extremely fun!

inside the game folder there should be an exe file that just says "game" you should be able to open the game from there

neato, recently been transitioning to MZ from MV so still a lot of things i need to figure out here, glad to hear this though.

from watching the trailer, most of the features revolve around mouse controls, didn't see what i wanted so i need to ask the question.

does this work with keyboard controls? if i don't plan to use touch or mouse controls at all will i be able to use this plugin?

I really enjoyed this one! the uncovering the story was very neat especially with how it makes little twists and turns on how things are narrated. i like the survival horror aspect of the game as well where you had to scavenge for stuff and fights are optional. this game is very Resident evil coded and i really enjoyed that about the game!

aside from small nitpicks, the one major comment i would say is that, the map definitely needed any sort of ambiance when travelling around. i get the intention of keeping the game with as minimum sound to keep things tense, but the silence was too deafening it broke my immersion at times. a simple wind howling would sell the atmosphere of the game tenfold.

other than that good job! one of my favorite games this jam! (also streamed it a bit here)

i was originally drawn to this game because we have somewhat similar themes and settings in our games! (that and i love goblins). overall i had a fun time with your game, the message and the twist of the message was certainly a nice change of pace. i like the characters too. a very unusual realistic take on a fantasy setting. (michi is so real for that)

my biggest comment will be on the "cleaning" system. i found it nice and novel changing the frame of the battle to a cleaning session instead. but the repetitiveness of it without changing things up lost its charm by the second day to the point i was just mashing buttons to get through the fights. third day onwards i just started watching videos on the side to pass the time waiting for the next story beat. it would be nice to have some variety or challenge in the fights to keep the player engaged more.

otherwise, good work!

i played this game on my twitch!

i'm a sucker for deckbuilding roguelikes so i really enjoyed this! i love the mechanic where you had to sacrifice cards in order to use cards and the art and aesthetic was very top quality! the designs really make me want to lore dive cause a big bunch of the time i was like "ooh i wonder what this based off, or what's this guy's story?"

nothing too much for me to criticize i guess, most of my qualms are more on the "wished it had more stuff in it" cause it did feel rather short, i feel like eventual problems will start sprouting once more stuff has been added.  but this is a solid foundation for a potential game to spring out from.

thank you for the review! i am glad you enjoyed it! and you gave a lot of very good points i should consider when i go back to this game! you've given me some good ways to address these problems too! i am very grateful for that!

im honestly on the fence if im going to continue this game or start working on a new project though. but this game is definitely something i want to revisit in the future!

thank you for the review and stream! i enjoyed watching your playthrough and hearing your comments definitely made me happy + gave me a lot to think about on how to improve my game!

a lot of what you mentioned were definitely originally planned in the game (bigger dungeon and varying orders) but i decided to ultimately cut them for the jam  to keep things feasible within the month and prevent feature creep. if i ever decide to turn this into a full blown game i do have ideas on how to iterate upon them.

i played this game on my twitch earlier! (finished it offstream which is a shame cause i didn't know i had like, 5 minutes left on the game time)

my favorite aspect about this game is definitely its presentation and pacing! especially the pacing, seeing how things slowly unfolded was so well presented in this game, especially the village part! i loved putting the pieces together and having the big reveals confirm my assumptions. just really well made on that part.

art and aesthetic is extremely well done, i love that you had custom music and everything too! (bonus points for me for commissioning artists!) the bridge scene was the best part of the game.

my only big criticism is the hunger system didn't really feel like it had a purpose? or at least not that big of an impact cause healing also restored hunger which made it almost impossible for me to drain the bar down.

overall i quite enjoyed this game! phenomenal job!

this game really wants to make me learn unite cause it's really impressive what you were able to do in this game!

i do wish it was a little bit longer though, the game itself was fun but definitely cut short when there was only 2 races. so if you ever plan on continuing this project. i look forward to seeing what more you can do with it!

i streamed this game earlier on my twitch! i've been following this project a bit since  when i first saw some of your devlogs on bluesky! its very unfortunate with all the problems you encountered that prevented you from getting the game done. but man even with what you have here i am extremely impressed with what you were able to make!

can't really make too much comments cause of the fact its unfinished but im excited to play this again once its fully done!

i streamed this game earlier on my twitch. and honestly, this game grew on me, it was about midway through the plot where i started to get very invested in what was happening, bit of a shame however when the game bugged and wouldn't save for us so we werent able to continue further.

i want to come back to it once the save bug has been fixed!

i quite enjoyed the game , i like the shop system and the aesthetic is simple but fun, but the pacing of the game i feel is wee bit slow that i couldn't keep playing past the 2nd day. i honestly just wish either the day or customers would go by faster so  i'm more engaged!

thank you for the review! happy to hear you enjoyed the little story i made for my game ^u^! honestly i was worried that day 5 would be too hard but im glad people aren't struggling too much on it!

thank you for the review! i definitely had more ideas for variety in the game yeah, but i definitely decided in the end to keep it simple to prevent feature creep. if i ever decide to come back to this project i'd love to explore more ways to keep the game fresh!

i really love the art of this game! very  close to the old pokemon R/B/G games, i love the creature designs too! very nice pun play on them and of course with the game about music i much enjoyed the tracks in game too!

my biggest comment points are in the battle system, i feel like because you rely on the expectations bar to deal big damage, fights tend to slow down until you can fill it up which can drag fights a lot unless you've done a bit of grinding to straight up overpower your opponents. the attacks could have a little bit of variety too instead of just the same QTE again and again.

overall a fun take on a pokemon like game! banjowl best maestromon.

i played this game on stream earlier and i have to say this has been one of my favorite games in the jam so far, i think you have one of the best interpretation of the theme "beyond expectations" cause i was definitely not expecting all that depth given to a mechanic that is often overlooked by people! some of the plot twists are a bit random but very fun and novel that it was an enjoyable play to the end!

i really enjoyed this! honestly the gimmick has been played out before, but the use of the engine's Error screens was just so good! simple but extremely well presented!

the ending was a little bit anticlimactic though i did wish there was more to the story cause i was very invested in the plot. it just felt like the buildup was very good but the payoff was just alright.

i'd honestly love to see an expanded version of this!

there was one point in the dungeon where you had to hit the skull where i just shot the skull through the wall cause i was too frustrated going through the invisible maze.

honestly this game did convince me to get your plugin so as a tech demo it was definitely impressive. but onto the actual review.

the story of the game is definitely on the relatable end, lots of points that hit hard so i was pretty engaged to see how the game would go, i like the aesthetic of the game too being very limbo-esque. and the gameplay for an rpgmaker game is extremely impressive! controls were tight and responsive so i enjoyed moving around in game.

i reckon the biggest flaw of the game is the level design especially the dungeon area. i get that the game is about overcoming an uphill battle of mental struggle but it was a struggle i found more frustrating than challenging to the point i was trying doing exploits to skip platforming segments instead of engaging with the game itself.

regardless, with the right direction of balance and level design, i think this can go places if polished properly! i really want to try the plugin for myself and see what i can do with it.

this felt more like an experience than a game to me, but in a positive way cause it really made me nostalgic for my childhood as it was pretty much like this X3

one thing i will say, the only thing missing in this y2k experience are magazines, otherwise it may not be the best entry, but i was certainly intrigued and played to the end!

finished the game offstream at around the 2 hour mark.

overall i enjoyed this game a lot, the art and aesthetic is wonderful and fits the game well like a cartographer mapping out his surroundings, and the open world exploration was fun if a bit tedious at times because of your player's speed. but i like all the little secrets and optional content littered around the map that you can discover!

on the gameplay side i do prefer if the player was forced to use the crafting part of the game early cause its easily missable until you're forced to use it after beating the first boss (or if you read the manual but not everyone does)

combat is pretty basic but i do adore the how much options you're given when it came to mixing and matching items.

theme was the weakest part i guess. how i interpreted it in this game was the MC was telling the player the inhabitants exceeded expectations, but game wise it didn't really feel that way cause MC was just miles stronger than anyone of the tribes. (i would akin it to pikmin but olimar is almost defenseless without the pikmin, which isn't the case here)

despite all that i really enjoyed this game! good job!

Fun Simple little game! i like the varied cast of characters and the arcade beat em up nature of the game. but it did get repetitive down the line once you realize every character and stage plays the same. i like the variety within each level aesthetic wise but wish it was the same for the playstyles!

Good game! probably one of my favorite games this jam!

i encountered a weird bug in the engine room puzzle where i fixed all the terminals but the door to the core wouldn't open. managed to make it work by reloading an earlier save, but it was definitely an odd bug.

The QR code links to the game, alternatively, click here!

thank you! im glad you enjoyed the little experience i made!

i really love the idea behind this game! definitely a good use of the theme  to make this puzzle-like platformer! the art and aesthetic doesn't really do this game justice but that's fine cause playing the game made up for it!

a neat little "spinoff " to the crafting genre! i was definitely taken for a ride!

jokes aside, i think this is a  really cool mechanic especially once stuff like mobs and danger start piling up. trying to manage all your stuff whilst your base moving sounds like a fun nightmare to partake in.

the art is probably my favorite part of the game though, i'm still amazed at how beautiful and detailed you guys were able to make the game in a short span of time!

the idea is interesting but i didn't feel have the urgency to  jump between platforms, but maybe thats more on the game not being fully polished.

took me a while to realize that out of control was meant to be for the fire.

very unique idea! i'lll hafta admit it gets frustrating when after rebinding a key and then shortly get hit with another bullet while you're trying to get accustomed to the new scheme as it just throws everything  out of the window. but i got a good chuckle out of the panic!

overall despite the frustration, i really like the idea of this game and how its implemented!

max i could get is a score of 10

haha yup, i definitely agree with the the theme part, but i was already halfway done once i realized it  and it was too late to change it so i decided to go with it than restart with a day gone.

but im glad you enjoyed it! i appreciate the play!
