Thank you for playing, and the kind comment. I'm glad you liked it!
Yes, haha that does make it a little too easy ;)
Very cool art style! Love the theme, great in-game tutorial screen. I loved the dust cloud effects, the background, the movement and the gradual attraction, allowing you to weave in between poison clouds and suck only the dust. The music was cool, the title and end screen animations are very well done. It might be better with a background image for the dash (old metal, gears etc, like the buttons, to match the setting) and a way to restart, or move onto the next level at the end. Great work!
It didnt progress past the first line for me "When the world slips from your hands"
(I am using a Firefox browser)
Tried in Itch and also gd.games. I was clicking around a lot, and had both open sites open at the same time, and my browser crashed! haha :(
Maybe there is some kind of loop/input issue?
Great art and style, I was writing how i liked the glitchy music and it fit the theme, then my browser crashed! ;)
This is a fun game, well done! I love the concept of raising your platform, as a way to save progress if you fall. I love the music and the vibe. I think it would be better with smoother camera movement, and it maybe takes too long to fall to the end, maybe a way to recover energy, or a way to move a little bit while falling, or limit it to your platform height? The art and animations are very cool, I love the way the robot looks around while idle and flies, great character! :)
I have been thinking about ways to improve this after the jam:
This is a fun game, well done! I loved the bird theme and the feeling of completing with the other birds to get the bugs, and I like the challenge offered by the camera and control movement. Maybe it would be better with an end goal, like needing to get a certain amount of food for the day before it gets dark, or collecting other things to build a nest, or scaring away other birds from your nest, etc. it could have different levels/times (backgrounds) to progress through a migration/journey/story, and it could have added difficulty in later levels with enemies or things to avoid. This is really well done, it has a great concept, I love it! The music and sound effects are fun - I was getting duck tales / duck hunter vibes! haha
I appreciate the menu with the volume controls and allowing the game to be paused. Well done!!
Wow, I really love this game. Incredible! :) Great feeling of progression, great control feeling, really nice style and theme! The planes feel a little sudden, which is fine, they are supposed to be fast, but they seem to pop in. I love that it saves your upgrades and each upgrades is very impactful. Honestly, you have made something special here, a real gem <3
Edit I forgot to say my record was 525m but I will come back and max everything and see what is above the flying saucers!!
Thank you very much for the review and testing the game. It really means a lot to me!
Yes, it was my first jam. I have been coding "games" for many years, in different languages, but never finishing, rarely sharing, always adding more features and getting distracted, then eventually abandoning them - you are 100% right about scope creep, haha!
That will be a big focus of my next one. I think I've learnt a lot look at other games in this jam, and seeing what is possible and what good games look like.
Eg. I'm glad I know now about testing the web build locally in Godot, so it will be easier next time! 😂
You've made my day, THANK YOU!
Well done!! I know, I had the same feeling yesterday submitting my first game on Itch! Super rewarding to work hard on a game with limited time, pushing through the stress and submitting it. I only wish I had been in these jams sooner!
I like your game's art, animations, music and sound, and it is a good idea. I enjoyed trying out different combinations randomly and trying to reproduce them - like the wooden bird! It's not clear if the enemies have weaknesses to certain spells, or if there are different situations for different spells, and it is a bit repetitive, I am not sure if I am making progress towards the great sandwich!
But it is fun, and presents well. Well done!
Haha, the monster mouse pushed me out of the map!
Cool level design, great sound and style, immersive and fun! When I found out you can hide inside the lockers it all made sense! I like that you can pick up multiple objects and they stack, and I like how scary the mouse is.
But I had no idea what to do next with all that power! Haha, very well done!
Great concept and implementation! I like the idea and instructions and logical nature, the different challenges are interesting and I appreciate the ability to try different levels. I feel maybe it needs a reward to give a reason to solve the levels, or something to hook me in. Maybe unlocking functions which give the operator more options like multiple shots patterns, maybe credits to unlock what you want or improve the drone, maybe promotions to allow you to operate in tougher/different areas. Sounds would help the theme for sure, and I like your idea of a hint system. Overall, well done!
Fun nice game, I like the cute mice, great sound effects, and enemy movement and the arrows to help you. The only downside is the bugs (spawning inside an obstacle) and the difficulty seems very random, sometimes it's great when there is a path, other times it seems unfair getting trapped or being unable to outrun the enemy mice.
Really well done creating this, it is fun!
Fun game, well done! I like the flexibility of the snake and it's responsiveness, it feels good to play, and I love the pixel art.
I can see this being even better with more variety (levels initially smaller, getting larger, interior walls to avoid, tiles that effect movement/stamina, different types of mice etc.)
I think only eating mice and the mouse control fits very well, great job!
Fantastic original concept - super well done! It took me like 6mins to realize you don't have to be right in front of the targets to kick them, you aim and can charge them from very far away, the red dot showing what you are targeting. Then it all clicked and it is a very fun time.
The vibe is great, the potential for speed and skill expression is awesome. I appreciate the mechanics like kicking in mid air to change/stop momentum allowing you to recover, in combination with wall running & jumping, gaining height (sometimes too much height!). I like the checkpoints and how different targets affect your jump differently, even like using the big burly men to sometimes stop me in my tracks, haha!
Loved it, its a banger!
Very fun game, I love the style and enjoyed playing it. Once I got into the rhythm of clicking the buttons, it (and the dolls) started coming together.
I really like how it seems the doll stays on the conveyor at the position you pick it, and I agree - it just needs a way to recover from a missed step, maybe a clear button so you can pick up the next doll? Great work!
Thank you very much for the kind words and for playing the game!
Yeah, it is pretty hard, they are slippery, good at getting behind you, your guns are wide and have no convergence and the "crosshair" is misleading ;)
An actual lead indicator would help a lot, it is probably required.
I think the trick is to watch how the enemies are moving/facing, and track your shots and try to lead them.
Cool mini games, cool music and animations. Thanks for sharing to source too - very interesting!
Reading the code helped me understand a little bit of the mini games, but it would be better if it was clearer to the player
The mini games seemed to end abruptly, I never saw the win or lose message, sometimes there was no cheese in the mini games, it is hard to keep track how far along we are, how many games remain etc.
Wow, well done! This is a nice game, I enjoyed it a lot. It made me smile, haha! :D
It's got a nice feel, nice style and music, interesting characters and depth, simple mechanics - makes me want to play again to get the other endings. Very cool!
(The only issues for me was having to zoom out to see the game properly, and the oversized speech bubbles positioning feeling off, a zoom/scaling issue perhaps, full screen is fine)
