Haha, this is a great cozy and fun story, it made me laugh.
I loved the cute characters, their expressions and the vibe. Great dialog options, good story length, very enjoyable, very well done!

Thanks for playing ٩(`・ω・´)و  glad you enjoyed

Great game full of character! Start felt a bit slow but the letterwriting was a major highlight. Good job!

It was such a nice cozy and cute little game!
I love that the characters are real life images it makes it really unique, and as i can see on the comment you made some of their clothes yourself too!
Did you also make the plywood furniture by yourself too or it's a kit? Are they hand cut or laser?

Developer(+2)

The furniture was from a kit I spotted in an arts store when I was on a trip, I think it was lazer cut? The paper doesn't say... I'd like to figure out how to make my own though, maybe try 3D modelling and then printing stuff but I don't have the most free time right now to learn a new skill like that lmao

Unfortunately it's not the most sturdy of materials and I've ended up breaking a couple pieces either putting them together or just removing them from the bigger plywood squares _| ̄|○  I'm having to get glue to fix them... but they'll work alright for my games in general as I can always edit their photos in Krita if an item looks a little janky IRL lol

As an avid duckduckgo user, I definitely appreciated the waterfowl waterfowl stay reference :-)

This game is just too cute. I love the art-style. I assume you made the photos of the characters yourself? (At least that's what I understood from the references.py file on github)

There were some solid jokes in there, and the cute story does make you feel somewhat warm inside. I enjoyed this :-)

Thank you for playing!  I do naming conventions like 'Waterfowl Waterfowl Stay' to name things in these games as mini like "Shh! Do you want to get sued?" type joke for known brands lol

This game is a side story to the Nairda Nun frog detective IP I've made and now I know how to do web builds I was just putting them on the first two games lol

And yup! I errr... it's probably easier if I just take a photo of some of them to show you lol

I originally bought some second hand Sylvanian Families as inspiration for characters whiles I planned Chapter Zero Demo, and people seemingly really liked the placeholders of the Sylvanian Families themselves where I didn't have time to draw everyone! So I decided to just use them and draw expressions on top of them in Krita instead, so the demo become Nairda Nun - Chapter Zero, and since then I've been adding characters, having to make clothes or accessories for some of them (most second hand toys didn't come with clothes lol) and I've recently started making up plywood doll house furniture that I plan on possibly painting and photographing for future game asset items in future Nairda games lol

My main issue now though is living in a one-bedroom apartment and having a slowly growing collection of tiny animals and trinkets used soely for game jam games _(: 3 」∠)_ lmao

Haha that's awesome and adorable :-) Thanks for sharing

Hope you get a chance to upgrade to a bigger apartment at some point before you fully run out of space😅

I have the same comment as Foenixix. I try to stick to browser only as I want to avoid any security risks. Sorry about that  ε(´סּ︵סּ`)з

Developer(+1)

Just made a working browser build ( ・∀・)っ凵凵c(・∀・ )

(but Ren'py isn't great for browser builds so loading may be a bit slow on sprites and background images)

Oh my you are a saint! I'm gonna try it out right now and give you feedback + a rating. Thanks for this. Much appreciated!

Submitted(+1)

Hi, i see you're commenting a lot so I'd like to try your game but because of security reasons only run them in the browser, if you add a browser build I'll make sure to play it!

Developer

Just figured out how to actually make a working browser build, it may be slower but hopefully not too shabby to try out _(ゝLꒊ:)_ thanks for the interest!

(Yeah I try my best to play and rate every game in a game jam when I enter them lol I rarely succeed in playing EVERY game but I start at 'least rated' and go from there so that the other game devs  have at least 1 rating before it closes)

Haha, so glad you did!

I had lots of fun playing through the game, weird Tony is so endearing, but everything fits in the style really well, I definitely appreciacate the drawings on top of the animal faces 😅
