The game Is fun. I really like the feel and the sound effects! Good job

I think this could be better as a chill game with more time to draw. Anyways I had fun drawing, and the next level animation is really good. Good job on the game!

It’s simple and creative. The time pressure is great for my gesture drawing actually lol. Music is calming and art is good. Great submissiong!

I loved how unique this game was (but also how unrelated to theme!) and I really had fun painting. But at the end I didn't understand how the scoring system worked!

Super fun game !

I didn't really see the connexion with the theme but it's ok. Concept & art & gameplay executed very well.

Very fun and very well done! While following the development in the discord, I hadn't imagined it would be this frenetic and stressful(in a good way). I would love to have little moment to appreciate my paintings after the day ends. Good job!

Loved the graphics/sound design on this! I did experience some frustration with the roller and it missing tiles... but otherwise it's just straight up good. Great job!

Loved the graphics and overall vibe of this game! The day>night cycle representing the timer was a nice touch. My one issue is I think it should show you your finished work on the screen where it shows your profit - I wanted to screenshot my crappy artworks but I didn't have time if I wanted to submit them in time! Maybe a number aside from the money amount could be helpful to better judge your artworks too? (e.g., "86% match", so you know exactly how well you replicated the artwork, as this isn't so clear from the money amount)

I think you could easily build on this in future by adding a few different tools (different sized brushes, spray paint, ruler for straight lines maybe?)

Overall great submission!!

I LOVED the game, I can't wait to show it to my friends and play with them. Truly an amazing job! The artist did an amazing job as well as the programmer, and the person making the music did a great job. I love the game and artist <3

I love you too, beautiful!!

Cool mechanic and take on the theme! Plus some great custom music really ties it all together.

Cool game! I like the interpretation of the theme. Although, for some reason theres no red? I don't know if im missing something but I had to just use pink for the apple one. It would be nice to know how the paintings are graded too, because towards the end I just started spamming random stuff which actually worked really well and I got loads of money for it lol

Very fun game, and a very unique interpretation of the theme, very untertaining, and the art is gorgeous !

great work, loved the art, music, and concept! it would be helpful to know how it was grading each piece of artwork so I know whether i'm doing things the way i should. also, were some of the colors missing from the palette?

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked the game! And yeah, i think red was missing. Miscommunication with the artist last second.

Great submission! Love to idea behind this and you executed it well. Also Criminal Canvas is a great name!

Fun game!  Art forgery is a clever interpretation of the theme.

Like many others, been following this WIP on Godot discord! Enjoyed seeing how it came together. This is the first painting game i've played this Jam, but it feels good! The algo for matching the forgery sounds insanely complex (I can't math). Had fun butchering my renditon of (what i think was likely) Statue of Liberty's close up. Would love to have a Fill tool, for flushing the canvas with a background color (im also lazy.) HAHA

Hey really enjoyed the presentation on this one. The different sized brushes looking unique was a touch I liked :)

I did feel a bit of a disconnect between the music and timed nature of the game, not sure if there would a way to put a small amount of tension into the music track.

Also curious how you implemented your art comparison code? As I used compute_image_metrics and found it hard to work with

Developer (1 edit)

Hello! Firstly the pixels you paint on are individually instanced and i create a 2d array of their modulation to create an “image array” of their colors. I then compare this to a directly hard inputted set of data for the current image (which is usually like 80,000+ characters (used a png to rgba value converter online). Not the best but it works.
