No ability to move backwards is a strange desition. Strafing also impossible.

About sluggish movement - in general what you want to achieve with movement is for it to take same time to move or turn. Otherwise it will feel sluggish even if in general turning will be also fast. In your case though - turning is very-very slow and it combines with very fast movement forward, that combination makes it feel even worse than if both of them would be slow to be honest. It just feels terrible to turn and there is no other option!

Buttons for attack and use energy were so small on my screen, that I didn't notice them at first! Its general issue of many jam games - you kind of need either to scale UI or lock resolution somehow.

Combat felt okay, energy restoration places could be more clear about them depleting though. At first I saw that they are still selectable and was under impression that I can come back and restore energy again. But nope!

All in all - a solid start and with some polish and beef could be awesome entry indeed.

Sluggish controls really wreck the experience.

You had me at "smash things with a pipe wrench" tho.

And who doesn't love a good "click things to progress" game?

Like people said turning is too slow but the perspective and walking ahead are good, I like all the visuals you used,  and the combat is fun, fast, well balanced and satisfying, I even died once for pushing my luck too far, as simple as this is the two different attacks of the enemies add to the game, energy management is fun.

Thanks for sharing!

Graphics and animations are fine. The movement is a bit to slow, especially the turning. And I don´t like having to press up for every movement, it gets tyring after awhile. But the basics are there and could be improved on.

We have the same scenario! I like games that do not need tutorials like yours. You laid some good foundations, maybe a setting to disable movement animations (or make them quicker) would improve the fun.

Turning was too slow, grid movement was fine. The combat was basic, but had a couple of different attacks to provide some variety. I wish there was more areas and creatures to spice things up a bit. After reading the other comments, I see now the end was indeed that last door which seemed to be a dead end.

I really liked the sounds and the combat was simple but good, but I got stuck when I ran out of energy and clicked on the energy attacks haha. But overall it was a good one!

Is there an end? I opened the second door that required two button but it was a dead end. Your game looks good and it will be a good base if you want to continue improving it. Being able to step back with the S key would have been nice. Even though the battle system is simple, I enjoyed planning ahead and saving my resources. Nice work!

If you walk forward into the dead end the game will end. It was supposed to be an escape pod of some kind, but I of course ran out of time, ha. Appreciate the feedback

Not sure if I missed something or not, but after the second two-button door, I seem to reach a dead end immediately after it.

Like Jagholin said, turning could've used a bit more speed. Otherwise, it was nice.

A short and simple game.
Movement is fast enough, but the turning around is very slow. It also doesn't queue movement commands, which is considered to be a nice-to-have feature in a dungeon crawler and is quite easy to implement
Besides this I don't see any negatives, but also not many positives, the game just doesn't show enough content to score one way or the other. It covers all the requirements stipulated by rules of the jam, but also doesn't do anything to go beyond them.
just good enough/5
