This is a pretty unique idea. I liked the art and sound especially.

Gameplay is cool, it becomes overwhelming quickly but I definitely feel potential for mastery even with the simplicity of the mechanics.

Awesome job!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah I messed around with the difficulty a bit, but I might go back and revisit it

Amazing game!
Simple, fun and engaging.
The kind of game that should be submitted for a gamejam.

If I get to be picky I would add a better indicator for doors opening from the bottom.
And if i can give you an extra tip on tutorial:
Instead of text, gifs with keybindings would work better. (but that is my subjective opinion)

Very nice art, fitting music and sfx.

Very solid entry. Great job.

Developer

Thank you, that's very kind! I really appreciate the feedback, and I think both of your points are valid. A fix might be something like making the light more obvious or have it stick out more at the bottom.

Good game, I love how it puts your straight into the action, I struggled initially to understand exactly which key I needed to press to push back against the doors movement, but once I got that down it was really fun. The music fits and you have a really good sense of pacing as you become more and more frantic trying to keep the door closed.

Great work!

Developer

Thank you Pigeon! I wanted it to be a game you could play right away but still ramp to build up difficulty and tension.

Nice game! But i think the loaderboard is broken.

Developer

Thanks! The leaderboard is only local highscores unfortunately, adding a networked leaderboard would be fun but that would have to be added at a later time.

Finally a "scary game" I can enjoy, I usually  skip on the horror games, cuz they make me feel too nervous, but this one was really nice. I liked the challenge and the overall vibe was great. Well done.

Developer

I'm glad you could enjoy it! Horror also makes me uncomfortable so I'm glad I could create something that gives horror vibes without actually being too scary

Exactly, I tried going for a similar feel, if you like you can checkout my submission.

Very very stressful game! Loved the concept and you executed it well. Short and scary, well done :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Hopefully it was a fun stressful haha

Fun game and nice concept ! I though we could hit the monster behind the door at first.

Developer

Haha I'm sure he didn't like that very much

Submitted(+1)

Such a cool concept and so well executed! Felt really good about my high score :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks Weird Orb! It was great watching you play it on stream. Once you figured out the controls you were keeping them monsters hella contained ;)

Wonderful Game! I really enjoyed it and love the idea.

Great job! Loved the quick paced gameplay, and the art was amazing. Creature behind the door was terrifying!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the gameplay! I actually ran out of time for a different creature behind the door. I had someone designing a terrifying creature that would run at you for the game over but they didn't finish it in time so I made one instead. Although it sounds like a lot of people are glad it wasn't a super scary jump scare haha

Nice art style and atmosphere.

Developer

Thank you! I had a lot of fun designing everything!

Well this got pretty hard pretty quick.. such a simple but fun concept :D

Could only do 599 now, but I'll be back hah

Developer

Nice work! Keep practicing and I'm sure you'll break 1000 ;)

Very smart use of the theme! Gameplay was engaging enough to keep me playing, but when I reached a certain point I realized the difficulty wasn't gonna go up any higher and my finger was getting tired :\ The way the doors move is really well done and it actually felt like I was holding a door back with the WASD keys! My biggest complaint is that the "click/hit" sound is the same every time, using 2 or 3 different sounds that slightly shift in pitch would work wonders! Good work.

Developer(+1)

Oh that's a great suggestion for the "click" sound, thank you! I also have plans for making the difficulty increase at 1000 points, right now it caps out a bit before that.

Thanks for playing, glad you had fun with it!

Fun and challenging game! The doors were tricky at first, but I was surprised at how intuitive they were once I stuck with it. Fun creature animations too!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! I've been thinking of adding an option to invert the A and D controls.
