How does your game represent Mode?
Blocks for Babies contains 2 playstyles in one, the titular Baby Mode and the hidden surprise mode that's revealed soon after starting. These are not only distinct modes in gameplay, but avenues for the player to channel completely different attitudes. It's time to go Baby Mode.

Yo, I love this game. The pure shock of going into annihilation mode for the first time was wild, and I really enjoyed the mechanic of having to solve a little Tetris puzzle during the boss fight to get more ammo. My only piece of feedback is that I'm bad at Tetris, and I'm mad that you made me play Tetris. Also I think I think the amount of bullets given to the player could use some balancing, but also that may be because I'm bad at Tetris. Fantastic work.

Neat idea, reminds me of the Mario with a gun thing someone made a while ago. Somewhat wish there was more reward for the Tetris end of the gameplay. Perhaps a point system and a visual cue when you get a Tetris.  The boss idea is cool, I was pleasantly surprised and excited when it happened! Also, I felt there was potential for each corrupt block to have its own individual shot or attack pattern or something of that nature. Overall, this game is very fun, and a creative take on the mode theme. We spent a long time playing it! Good job!

Happy music where nothing could go wrong. Ahhh we're all gonna die. Those block you can't just get rid out.

Super neat idea! Shooting blocks to fit falling tetrominoes was particularly fun. My only gripe might be that way the shooting feels a bit clunky and without much feedback, but it's very DOOM as it is so if it's more of an aesthetic choice, disregard. I love Flapper's dumb little hat dance, more of that please. Excellent work!

Awesome job all around, the visual and sound work is incredible. I love everything about Flapper's stupid colored-outside-the-lines look, and the game really makes me FEEL like an infant and that these blocks are for me. A must-play for the jam for sure.

very, very clever, but for me at least the lose condition seemed bugged. also really weird that the normal Tetris lose condition is the win condition for [REDACTED] triggering the [REDACTED] mode, but when I ran out of hearts in the boss phase of [REDACTED] mode I didn't lose, so it seemed like I couldn't lose the game? really loved how the [REDACTED] mode boss flipped the relationship between the tetris and [REDACTED] subgames on its head.

((in redacted mode, if there's going to be no spread at all to your shots, please make the gun not a shotgun))

anyway, very funny game! really impressive having Tetris and [REDACTED] running in the same "engine" or at least creating a convincing illusion of that with the transitions in and out of [REDACTED]. I love all the aesthetics and writing.

Thanks for playing! Yeah the lose state had a last-minute bug so we unfortunately had to remove it. It's already fixed in the version we'll upload after the jam, but right now losing is kind of on the honor system lol. Glad you enjoyed it!

Really fun game. Super creative and well executed. You can never really go wrong with tetris. I loved that you put the ammo inside of the tetris blocks as a way to make clearing lines feel more rewarding. I loved saving my ammo up to then go on a rampage and clear all the blocks. Super fun, you somehow made tetris even more addicting for players like me.

That being said i do wish the shooting mode was a bit more engaging. More of a personal gripe, but the shooting wasn't super enjoyable, and I found it to be a bit too easy and clunky.

Super intriguing concept! Took me by surprise when I entered a fps battle with a corrupted block! Also the mini puzzles for extra bullets against the boss were a cool addition, I thought for sure I was done since I didn't have enough bullets initially.

This is absurd. Absolutely absurd, both the idea for the game and how amazingly you executed it. Your take on tetris alone was a job well done, but the secrete other mode truly took this experience to the next level. Everything from the animated dancing kid, to the faces on the blocks and everything that occurs in the, ?????, other realm, is truly fantastic. The polish, creativity, humor and fun in this game is superb. Incredible job!

Thank you so much for these incredibly kind words :) I'm so glad you enjoyed!

Awesome!! Very creative idea, should be proud of this! Switching between modes for the first time made me laugh a lot lol. Also I love the cover art for the game :]

Developer

Thank you so much! I've loved seeing people react that way to the transition lol, that was one of my favorite parts to develop

Its like Tetris and (Spoiler) Doom had a love child. Me and my family will be playing for generations. Thank you.

As a Tetris enjoyer this was very fun, I wish there was a bit more of a reason to actually go to the annihilate mode instead of just playing Tetris until you get to the boss. Also hard drop still leaves some time to move the blocks after pressing hard drop which made me mess up block placement multiple times. Would love to see this as a more fleshed out arcade game on steam.

Finally a Tetris game I can be good at. This was a wonderful entry the mode theming was well implemented with the two blends of genres in this game. The way the boss fight works is really cool too. Nice work on this game.

This was a fun title! The twist made for a nice contrast in gameplay, and I thought the graphics fit each style well. The only critique I have is that sometimes the block rotation could feel a bit finnicky, but I still think this game has a lot of charm. Great job, and I'm stoked to see another game with a hybrid Tetris mechanic. Way to go!

Maan, that game with flipping fun ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)

The boss fight caught me off guard (in a good way). From A to B, no complaints just pure fun .

Congrats on your submission!

I read the controls before and saw space was crossed out, thought it was taken out last minute or something. Took me soo long to realise I had to press it to enter the annihilate mode. Really original take here, well done!

Thanks so much!

Really cool game, fellow tetris-dev! :D
It took me a while to realise you don't actually get points, and you only go to the next level by "losing" tetris and winning the "secret" afterwards.
Really cool and well made, but it's a bit of a shame that there aren't any scores. I realised that there's no reason to even go to the regular doom-mode, just collect ammo, and once you've got enough, the most efficient thing is to just lose tetris quickly and jump straight to the bossfight.
Nonetheless, superb game!
