Pretty sure it was the lower synths creating a dissonance with the upper melody + the fact that they change every time you click on a new outfit. Like being on a musical roller coaster. Felt incongruent. Which I'm sure is incredibly hard to make feel harmonious when modulating so much. lol I think if it was less about switching them constantly and the modes had time to settle between changes it wouldn't have hit my "flight or fight" response so hard.

BUT if you were going for anxiety than kudos it worked like a charm. lol :P It may also be a personal experience as we all have aversions to different things. My wife complains about high pitched whistles in some songs I can't even audibly process.

EDIT 2: Figured out how to make time pass without freezing the game (just gotta press it for a second then stop and wait press it for a second stop and wait, etc) but the bug that got me stuck on the tree happened again. On my 8th attempt I'm just done trying. lol Would love to try this when these game breaking bugs are updated. Also I don't know if anyone else mentioned it because it's super subtle but the outlines melding together when two objects get close to soften the shapes is such a smooth and nice touch. bueno

EDIT: Restarted my computer (didn't help) but if I pass time a smidge at a time I'm able to pass the level. Thought restarting my computer helped but I passed time to make a tree go a few levels later and it froze and crashed again. Trying again. lol

Super annoyed I can't play this game. For whatever reason when I "let time pass" the game just lags out and won't let me continue. Lots of raving reviews and here I am bugged out. /sigh

Also when I press up to climb a tree if I'm also still holding left/right arrow it bugs out and keeps me at the bottom of the tree with the walking animation but I cannot move.

I can't really fairly rate it but the presentation looks awesome and the concept really caught my eye! Best of luck to you.

Bro why is this SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO big? Jesus. Took like 10 minutes to install. Was expecting a massive game. lol The idea was cute! The assets felt a bit disjointed, like the bodies were prefab assets and everything else was made by the artist. Loved the golem and the little meat ball monsters. Cute character designs. Couldn't figure out how to attack with the sword guys but the fireball attack was cool af and fun to use when it worked. The command worked really well for Pebble. Over all a fun game jam! Enjoyed playing it.

Surprisingly fun! Really enjoyed the mechanics and the little twist. Also great use of color palette for the light/dark modes. Great job!

Neat idea. My companion got OBLITERATED super quickly. Like I put up my shield blocked 3 shots and then she just died immediately. Would need some balancing and better AI but I liked the idea!

Cute idea. The music gave me anxiety tho. lol Like I loved the music and it's modulation with the changing clothes but god it felt like listening to a shepherd tone. XD Loved the art and the cute outfits. Any game with a raccoon in it gets an A+ from me! Great job. <3

I think I like the idea but I also don't know if I know what's happening. Old boy was doing some wild shit and I was either catching myself on fire or shooting stuff at him. I couldn't figure out how to do anything he was doing. It seems complex but the complexity eludes me and I couldn't find any description of what the interactions were about. Also couldn't really tell when I hit them if I did damage or when they were damaging me? Saw my health bar was low and realized damage was definitely being done. lol Cool sprites and chill music. Good job!

Lordy I can't fathom how you got all this done in the time allotted. Feels super complex and satisfying and balanced. Really great music to fit the theme and interesting graphics with great contrast. Great job!

Cute idea. Funny execution but the sensitivity was bananas. I would try to turn and spin like 180*. So much so that I couldn't really play it to an enjoyable capacity. I could hit the window passengers just fine if I centered them in my screen but after that I'd turn to go to the next one and just spin out of control. Once it ramped up to more than 5-6 people I couldn't keep up. Aside from that this was super cute and fun.

Cute game. I enjoyed the coin slot machine idea. I couldn't get past level 5 but I enjoyed the mechanics and the different modes. Also the music / art was cohesive and made for a fun chill experience.

Awesome job. I'd definitely add an X over the ones you turn off. Wasn't until I died the second time that I realized I was eliminating the modes I actually wanted. Also a way to turn the modes back on so I can change my mind if I want. The goblins had sooooooooooooo much health to. Lord almighty. But the concept is great. The controls were tight. Thank you for putting in sensitivity controls so I could actually play! The goblins are funny and the mech is cool af. Over all sweet af.

Great job! I dunno why this felt so on point with the theme but I think you nailed it. Unique movement that feels tight and skill based. Also super cute art style.

Having Z as the action key and WASD as movement made this unplayable for me. I don't know if other people have tiny hands or whatever but I could not make it work. Which is a shame because it looks incredible. Tons of great concepts and interesting changes. If you release a version with I don't know like space bar or any other key that won't be directly under my other hand while playing I'll try it again. Good job!

I think I downloaded the wrong Pokemon. Jokes aside this is hilarious and weird. Could definitely have used some kind of instructions because it took me 3 minutes of clicking around and removing body parts to figure what was happening. The "mod with modes" didn't land for me but this was a weird prompt and you made something interesting with lots of mechanics so great job there!

Awesome work! Love the art and the style of game play. Took me a minute to figure out what the heck was going on with the modes and such but once the loop made sense it was super fun.  Great game!

Cute game! Loved the concept and the execution was really well done. Funny that the remastered version has impossible to complete areas that you need to revert to the old game to beat. I know that's the point of the game and mode but it's just funny to think about. haha Great job!

I want to play this on N64! Otherwise no notes. Great job. lol

I only came here because Mr Mangoes avatar made me laugh out loud. lol Jokes aside incredible job! I think the concept is perfect but a lot of the execution falls short in terms of controls. I could not beat any level unless I had normal mode or jet pack mode. And I even died A LOT with the jet pack mode. I didn't make it past level 3, honestly, but that didn't stop me from giving you 5s across the board.
If you plan on taking this further here are my suggestions.

King Mode - Cool idea but needs a trajectory path so you're not just blindly guessing. If you were stuck using one mode and could have time to figure and feel it out it would be okay but since it's random you have to relearn how far it is to jump every time it pops up.

Recoil Mode - Also a great idea but with locked axis not being able to shoot at an angle you really lose out on mobility and shooting side to side having to charge up to get actual distance, only to get very little distance even with a fully charged shot, it's not viable. Even with low gravity.

I personally think the game is worth continuing to pursue. Was great fun even though it was incredibly challenging and some of the modes felt literally impossible to do anything with at times.

Squiggy must be stopped. He's too powerful. That bass coming in just was TOO funky. Art was really charming as well. Great job guys!

Apparently I love sucking and blowing. Who knew? I did get to a part where one of the fans wouldn't turn on even when I blew it multiple times so I couldn't pass that area but damn if I didn't try. Hope you release a full version so I can beat it. Also granny noises are hilarious. GG to who ever recorded those voice lines. lol I've got a screen shot of the culprit (broken fan) if you want. great job!
EDIT: Also did you trace over Willam Defoe's face from the lighthouse for that hilarious thumbnail? If not. Kudos. If so. Kudos.

I didn't really get any "mode" from this aside from "Hard Mode" because good god the balance was harsh. At least having one enemy dying in 1 hit would've done wonders for the game. The art was cute, loved the character designs. The background definitely has that "Sega Genesis 3rd Party 90s Game" vibe which is cool. Great job!

Great job! Love the musical changes. It's a bit annoying to still take damage from the enemies while I'm hitting them in some instances but it was a small thing. Cute art! Really glad someone took this route on the theme and included actual changing music with the different modes. Impressive work!

Man. MAN! I have rated almost all of the games I've played 5/5 on originality because they're all very unique (save for a few) but now I wish I had rated most of them 3 so this 5 star would mean something special because I'd rate this 15/5 on originality if I could. What a unique and weird experience that's super well programed, uniquely varied in it's execution, and presented so well. Everything about this is seriously just super impressive. Great job to everyone on the team!

Great job! Controls were a bit confusing (use verse pick up) at first but once I got it everything was smooth. Thank you for including instructions in game. haha

I don't know if it was intended but I wasn't a fan of not getting any upgrades. Every new mode just made the game harder so I wasn't really rewarded with anything. lol I got I think 4 new modes and each one just made the game harder. Dark Goblin Souls? lol But even Dark Souls gives you upgrades.

Was there a way to actually climb that tower of boxes and barrels? I can't jump higher than one block so I just could not climb the box tower.

The combat actually felt pretty easy at first but as soon as I ran into two rats shit got real real fast. lol Felt like a great balance. Loved the graphics too.

Love this game and concept. I feel like I get why there wasn't an "exit terminal mode from anywhere button" so if you went off too far you'd be lost and have to get back but without any danger aside from "just needing to waste time figuring out where you were" it feels less like a mechanic and more like an over sight. Maybe if mobs spawned if you're in there too long or you lose health? Or just, idk remove it and let me exit at any point. lol
That one criticism aside this is clean af. Great visuals. Fitting music that increased the atmosphere. Tight controls. Just the right level of difficulty. Different weapons types. A++

I would believe that because I was the sick artist in our group and didn't get started until the last week. XD Do what you gotta do. lol I love the character models so great job on that with such a short time frame.

Incredible how much you got done in the amount of time we had. Kudos!
If you're planning on working on this more I'd suggest a few changes for clarity -
1 - When you first enter a square two different text boxes pop up. One I'm assuming to "teleport back" and the other that describes wtf is happening. I couldn't make out either in the first square I entered or the last square I entered, even though I was ready to try and read it on the last square. It also disappears so quickly I  couldn't read all of the text on the longer form ones. I get that the theme is "anxiety" but not being able to read an initial description and having to pull up the controls immediately after entering a square because it was too short was a bit much. lol
2 - I love the style. Black and white is a vibe. Really fits the game. But you lose legibility on things like the gas meter for the car. 3/4 of the time I couldn't even see it because it was black UI on a black background. There were a few other things but honestly can't remember them all because... well there's a lot going on.
3 - I don't know if the text I missed when first entering a square were the controls or the instructions but sometimes I just didn't know wtf to do. I kept the Tomagachi fed and watered the whole time and it was always pissed at me the whole time. When I first went to the debt collector it said "pay $100" so I did and he didn't go away. Next time I did it again then finally noticed the "Debt $3000" and so I just started mashing the pay button before he said "I knew you couldn't pay it" and closed out the game. Which I spent quite a bit of time trying to re-open not realizing I "lost that game" and couldn't.
Generally I don't give this much feedback but you guys clearly put in an ass load of effort to make this and it shows so I figured I'd give some constructive criticisms in case you're planning on further developing because it was a hell of a game and I wouldn't be surprised if you did. Seriously great job!

Cute game! Interesting take on the concept. Controls felt good! I liked the art. Bobby is a good boy. lol Really enjoyed the launching out of the walls thing too.

Great job! Aside from needing two extra manuals and a youtube video to explain the game this is really well done! But the YT video is hilarious so that's bueno! Seriously fun and engaging game play and super cool graphics.

Love the style. Everything feels so cohesive and the creepy atmospheric change is *chef's kiss*. Really cool how much you got completed in the time you did. Great job!

Yo! After finally figuring out that damn TV antenna (thanks to you) I really enjoyed the game. Super cute graphics too! I was hoping for a bit more from the picture mode changing / mono/stereo etc idea but I think I heard you say you were planning on developing more so I really look forward to seeing more of this. Definitely a concept that can be expanded into some really cool and interesting ways. Feel like if everything goes well I'll be watching the anime adaption in 5 years. lol Great job <3

lol the voice acting! Everything in this is great but lord that voice over was perfection. Really enjoyed the concept. Also the music? Bangers. Animation? Banging. Game play? Tight and fun! Everyone really stepped up on this. Great job!

One of my favorites in terms of style! The gameplay was also solid but that art was exquisite. I really liked the take on the "mode" however as a musician myself I'm sad there wasn't any musical indication I could hear that differentiated between the scales. With only one song (maybe two don't remember) it would've been great to have the music switch modes when switching modes. Not super easy but worth the effort to have more musical meaning than a pun. Seriously though incredible job! I want your artist to be the concept artist for my game now lol

I hate how good this is. lol Great game. Just everything about it is A+ lol

Yeah level 2 definitely feels more like a final challenge compared to these others. But now that I've played the other levels I have a few suggestions because this game actually has tons of potential lol
1. swap the "change modes" over to Left Mouse Button so you can maintain control when swapping modes. Speed runner strat.
2. Give a warning when that damn car comes flying up my butt so I can at least jump. Feels bad to be 3/4 of the way through the track and getting insta-gibbed by an insane fast car that I have no ability to see coming.
3. I had to quit all the way out and restart the game entirely to get back to level select.
4. If you all turn this into a full game for release and want an artist let me know. XD
5. I didn't mention this before but that music in level 1 is A+++++ felt like I was playing Doom Mowternal. lol

Great job! Lots of fun.

Aside from your splash page AI art and the bugs that made it a bit unplayable this has a lot of potential. I really love the sprite animations and once I managed to get a little bauble shooter thing it was fun to play around with. Love the presentation.
One thing, that's more my fault than anything, once I killed the first mobs I thought the resources orbs they dropped were homing missile projectiles and I ran away from them for a minute before just assuming it was a bug and succumbing to my fate. Then I collected them and gained resources instead of dying. Had a good laugh!

Honestly the "permanent witch mode" is such a stretch for the theme but everything else is 5/5. This could definitely be it's own stand alone game. If you made this in 2 weeks I can image this would sell pretty well on Steam if you put a year of development into it. Wish I could've used my controller it would've been 10x easier but I don't know if it was just cuz I'm using a PS5 controller. lol Whatever the case you all did a really excellent job. Can't wait to play the full version in a year. haha

A simple explanation in game would've saved me the trouble of having to download the game to play it correctly after not understanding there was more than 1 mode. lol Love the overlord frog concept. I'd avoid making enemies the same color as the player to avoid confusion and if you released this as an actual game there definitely would need to be balancing (archer's OP) but for the time frame everything in this was A++. Great job!

lol funny big boi. great art!

It's funny because the other "Mowed" had too little big patches of grass and I played yours and I feel like you have too big of patches of grass! Where is my perfect mowing simulator? XD The controls are great and the presentation is A+. Feels a lot like a Super Nintendo game I'd play a bunch on a Saturday night in 1995. Great job! Maybe could've added a bit more variety or different modes or something to be a bit more than "a game that's a pun" but for being a "game that's a pun" it is fun to play.
