This is a game with a lot of potench'! I loved how easy it was to navigate the castle with it all being on-screen.
My main critique is with the death system and not having checkpoints - the opening moments of the game are a bit tedious. Related to that, it's really hard to tell which rooms are going to be affected by the dragon's breath - I would rather see the dragon only affect the room it's in front of, or for the rooms to light up with an effect before they become a very uncomfortable temperature.
Very nice concept and execution, congrats to the whole team!
I love the overall atmosphere and the game presentation (mechanic wise and graphically too). It's just a little hard to move around the castle because a few things is quite hard to see, a highlight/glowing on points of interest upon mouse over would help in this regardings. Also, returning to the starting upon every death was a bit too much imho, it coulse use some checkpoints.
I really enjoyed the game. The graphics were amazing and the soundtrack was quite appropriate. My only main concern was the lighting, but that has already been addresses and is being worked on. As long as I remember, I will come back in a few weeks and give it another try.
Thanks so much! We'll be releasing an updated build in a week or so!
It addresses the lighting and a bunch of other things! :D
I think the game is really wonderful, I definitely fell victim to the dragon more times than I’d like to admit. But the trial by error style of learning the gameplay made it fun and exhilarating in an anxiety inducing way 😂 it was cleverly designed, and I love how the storytelling is subtle and integrated into the aesthetic and level design. Well done!
Thanks for noticing the narrative! We're working on the game still, and I'm trying to find more ways to push the ideas further with level design! <3 Thanks for playing! ^_^
It was hard for me to find my way around the castle, lot of the areas were poorly lit and I did not know where to go or what to do for the most part. The art and animations are really good but thats not what the jam is about.
^_^ We've continued working on the game and we've vastly improved the lighting and giving the player a sense of direction!
I hope you come back to this in a week or two and check out our updates!
Will definitely check it out, do you have a twitter?
Very interesting! It was super laggy at first since I accidentally picked the ultra high graphics quality. I'm glad I changed that. It's a really cool idea. You might want to look at an orthographic camera or some other way to improve visibility in the rooms are near the edges of the screen.
We've continued working on this and we've given the camera a very slight rotation according to the player's location to help keep everything focused and detailed! If you check out the project next week, I think you'll be happy with the updates! <3 Thanks for playing!
