How does your game fit the theme?
Our team chose to interpret the theme “Diving Deeper” metaphorically, and opted for emotional storytelling through narrative, audiovisuals, and mechanics as our game’s core pillar. The player dives deeper into the character’s subconscious in order to reconstruct their memory: an omniscient narrator guides you as you navigate a liminal world. Take on the form of a raven, representative of the protagonist’s soul, as you dive deeper into yourself and uncover the mysteries of your own mind.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
- Everything you see in the game is made from scratch, barring some of our 3D environment assets, and the fonts. All were downloaded for free.

Amazing graphics and UI, great sound too, well polished game all around.

Developer

Thank you so much, I worked on conceptual UI :)

The visuals are great, the UI is on spot, the SFX and music fit in very well, and overall the game is fun and polished. I really like the voice acting and how you slowly introduce more abilities to the player. I do have some feedback though: The player's movement looks a bit goofy, which doesn't fit in the eerie style you were going for, more enemy variety would have been nice, maybe a ranged enemy? Also, once I obtained the explosion I found myself standing still and spamming right-click since it was the easiest way to defeat enemies. Overall, the game is great. Great work!

Developer

Thanks so much, we worked hard on UI, SFX, music! And thanks for the comments on the voice acting :) We were going for "cute hopping" but perhaps we could've gone a darker route too. As for the enemy variety, totally agree, we ran out of time and forgot to add the cooldown for the Explosion! Thanks for your comment! :D

As a Product Designer by day, can I just say your UI was spot on!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, none of us are UI/UX designers so it was a journey!! Your game was awesome!

WOW! Great job! This is what we aim for in our game narrative and gameplay wise, You managed better than ours.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your kind comment!! Your game is on my list of favourites:) I really felt the narrative.

I absolutely adore the polish you guys put in the UI department! Everything related to art and UI oozes style and flair, which I thought was very impressive, given such a short time frame. I really enjoyed your take on the theme too and helped the gameplay feel fun. I wish there was more enemy variety than just the one enemy that continuously chases you, but that's only a small nitpick compared to what you guys have achieved here!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you, we didn't have a UI/UX designer but I love that kind of stuff, so I really got deep into it! I did the conceptual UI using Adobe Express, which looks more polished than in-game, but unfortunately Unity is a bit limited in terms of importing fonts, placing shaders / overlays, animating them, importing icons, etc. A teammate implemented it all for me - we agree that in the future it would be cool to adjust it even more and animate the background (which we tried in Adobe and it looked awesome!). Thanks for your super kind comment and feedback :) As for enemy variety, totally agree.

Really good art style and vfx, I like the overall vibe this game has which makes a top-down shooter game more unique.

Developer

Thank you so much, we didn't have an artist on the team beyond modelling so we had to get creative!!

It's really hard to come up with feedback for this one. Everything is just so well put together. I would say the combat mechanics could use a little balancing. After getting the explosion power, I found out I could just spam it and I wouldn't have to move.

Other than that it was great. So rare to see a complete, 3d, fun, highly polished game made in a week, with narrative and voice acting to boot. Hats off.

Developer

Thank you so much, first time doing VO for this kind of scope/format!!

Great particle system, mechanics, VFXs, sounds, etc. everything was very impressive...It was quiet fun playing :)

Submitted(+4)

Really amazing work here, especially dig all the VFX! The only things I can suggest would be some sort of cooldown for the attacks and a counter for enemy remaining. Excellent job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! It was my first time working on VFXs, I usually just focus on code.

Amazing audio design, the gameplay is simple but the progression is realy good, incredible production all around, congrats

Beautiful game, the assets were very impressive given the time constraints. My only point of criticism would be that the same ichor wraith walking straight at me got really old really quickly; I liked the narrative-focused parts of the game, but if the combat system doesn't feel fleshed out at all, I'd rather skip it entirely. Very well done, I hope to see this one among the winners

Developer(+1)

Appreciate the feedback, and completely agree! We wanted to implement variable enemy types with different combat manoeuvres - we actually discussed a bomb type enemy like the one in Mario (the black one:)) - but in the end we ran out of time (we started Aug 21, 2 members joined later). Hoping we can update this kind of stuff in the future :D thanks for the honest review!

Submitted(+4)

love the black and white 3d graphics! It really gives an atmosphere on memory.

Submitted(+3)

This game was beautiful, I love the black and white style it went for. and the voice acting was great to. (I really wanted to add some to my game as well, but didn't). and it was overall a great experience.

I did feel like the atacks where way to over powerd and the monsters way to under powerd, like you could kill all the enemys without even moving. but it wasn't that big of a deal, since it was also quite nice since this was more of a relaxing game.

Great game. keep it up♥

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Maybe we can collab in the future for VO!! Loved your game style. Thanks so much for the comment and feedback! c:

I'll be taking a break from game design since school is about to start again, but I'll be sure to remember this when I start working on projects/jams again!

Submitted(+3)

This game reminds me of NieR and i love it for that :D, pretty fun game with interesting lore. Though I'm not sure if its intentional, but you can spam the explosion with no cooldown and pretty much take out all the enemies by just standing in one spot.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It was intentional because we ran out of time lol :D But re-considering exactly because of that point :D Thanks for adding to the feedback!!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for playing our game!

Submitted(+4)

Some Pac-man ghosts got lost in this game haha sorry for that. It's a very polish game, smooth sounds and animation, beautiful game design. I loved it.

Submitted(+4)

Very unique art stile. The shiny raven is a nice idea and I really liked the adorable jumping animation while walking.

Actually, I think with some extra work, a little polish and more content, this could be a good game to be published for mobile. Maybe limit ammo, add some more different monsters or something like that and it would be a 10/10

Submitted(+4)

Excellent. Almost everything this game has to offer is excellent. The art direction looks amazing, the sound effects complement the environment and feedback nicely, the writing/dialogue made for a very compelling narrative and the gameplay up until getting the explosion ability was very fun. I'd just say that the explosion ended up being a bit too strong, since you could spam it out with no cooldown and become basically invincible. The voice acting was slow and a monotonic which, although probably intentional, made it difficult to pay attention to the otherwise great narrative. Still, overall an amazing game, congratulations!

Developer

Yeah it was a hard call between VO and no VO, in the end we went with it :) Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+4)

This game very good! The only complaints I had was that you can spam the explosion button making the game not challenging anymore. Also sometimes enemies would spawn inside you. How you interpreted the theme is very creative. Overall an amazing game!

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, initially we were going to do a cooldown for the explosion, but we ran out of time. Some more time to develop gameplay balance could be an idea for the future! Thanks so much for your feedback :D

Developer

Thank you so much! Hahaha yes we had a plan for a cooldown but we ended up running out of time

This is incredible the design, atmosphere, art, graphics, gameplay, the voice, the music, the sounds and everything about this game are amazing i love these kind of game great vibe this might be my favorite one out of all of the others in this jam! Great Work!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, we worked really hard to achieve the overall feel of the game, especially seeing as our team did not have a systems designer, UI/UX designer, or artist beyond modelling. Overjoyed by your comment!! :)
