  3. The sounds are perfect!

Things I would like to possibly see with your title. 🤷‍♂️

  1. Release this game????

Overall 📓

This was the best story game I have played by far! It was so much fun going through the characters thoughts that they were trying to hide! It reminded me of the stuff I was trying to execute on my game, but your team did a much better job of it! Be proud of yourselves! Because this is a masterpiece! 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Developer(+1)

Wow, thanks a lot!

This was an amazing game. I love the detective gameplay(Probably since I made one as well). the art is good, music and sound is amazing. I really like the memorie dive mechanic to get more information about the case, and it fits the theme really well. The story is really well done, and I want more. Like why was I in the shooting memory, why did the pool guy know me. I need more.

I really enjoyed every second of this, It was just a really awesome game.

Amazing game. Keep it up♥

Developer(+2)

Thanks! I played and loved your detective game too!

Absolutely fantastic game! The detective/deduction kinds of games are always really fun, and the fact you were able to implement one for this game jam is awesome! The memory diving mechanic is really cool, where you select the mismatched emotion; theme wise, it reminded me a lot of Ace Attorney and finding contradictions. And I love that you have to piece together the whole story by talking to and diving into everyone's memories; it's also great you worked in red herrings too, like possible motives from many people.

I also like that there are different endings; I laughed when I tried accusing someone immediately, and got a ending for not even trying to investigate lol. The art and music is also excellent; the pixel art reminds me a lot of Tails Noir (haven't played it, but seen it before and it looks cool). Seriously, great job on this submission, I had a blast playing through it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words :) I feel our team all pitched in really hard for this project and it was a lot of fun working on this jam. Getting the branching paths working was difficult, and we had a lot of back and forth of how to incorporate it. Since you want the player to understand that they might be missing something, without making it too obvious; especially with the red herrings.

A well made game! Impressive!
Both narrative and environment is catchy, controls are smooth  and the cutscenes are nice!

We're glad you like it! Thank you :)

I liked the game but the UI is not good on my pc.

if you are using unity engine you can select the canvas and select scale to screen option and this will help with the problem. but the game is very good

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry for the UI issue we will try to improve :)

Developer(+1)

Aw:/ we used that option on the canvas objects, but we might have forgotten in some of them. Thanks for the heads up!

Submitted(+3)

oh the game is pure class. U can tell from the intro. Loved the pixel art and animations. Had quite a noir feel to it. Maybe it was the music. You did a fab job on this one. Good use of the theme!

Developer(+1)

Glad you like it :)

Amazing game! 5 stars. (Only bug I found is the cursor disappeared towards the end, so I cracked the case but then couldn't click on the answer in the 'what went down' bit, but not taking marks off for that ;)) great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!
Welp... we had this bug in the early versions, thought we fixed it, it bugged right as you were to see the ending:/

Submitted(+3)

Great game. It took me a little while to make my accusation, I was seriously overthinking the whole thing it turned out. The memory mechanic is really cool, I almost wish I could have spent more time poking around in their heads before it faded out each go around.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Well, taking a while to accuse allows you to see a "bigger version" of the ending though, so it can be a good thing!

Fantastic entry to the game jam. Love the atmosphere created with the music, dialogue and characters. The idea of diving into people's memories is also a brilliant take on the theme. Congratulations on a great submission!

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot!

Very nice. Great atmosphere!

Developer(+1)

Thanks ;)

Wow, the music carries this on its back for no reason. I thought it would get boring but the game lasted long enough for me to not get annoyed by it and instead appreciate it.

The art really lent to the sleazyness and grimmyness of the scene and the characters were cliche in a good way. Excellent story telling, game design was A+ as well. Great job.

Developer(+1)

Our composer did an amazing job creating the track for this game!

This game is just amazing, I love story driven games like this! I didn't expect much from it at the beginning, but when you start diving deeper into the story, it really gets you! It's so impressive how well you guys have managed to make everything feel: the ambience, the dialogues, the dive mechanic! So, let's talk about the latter. The minigame where you have to find the hidden thought is so good mainly because of one simple thing: the fact that you can click on other thoughts without penalty, and there will still be a dialog showing what that thought represents. You could've just slapped a "YOU CLICKED THE WRONG THOUGHT!" text, but no, you've gone further. This is actually so great from a storytelling perspective, as you get to know each character even before reaching their cutscene! It's the addition of seemingly useless features like these that make a game great, in my opinion.

The story is so well crafted, and the cutscenes are simple but flawless in context. This game really makes you think of who could've committed the crime, and the fact you can read the LITERAL MEMORIES of people is a feature sure to fully immerse the player in the experience.

Also, I enjoyed the twist so much! I'll not spoil it, so if you are reading this and you haven't played this game, go play it. You'll not regret it.

The only major flaw in this game? It's a bit short.

Other than that, it just needs some minor polishing, and this could be even considered a full experience! I Don't know if you plan on continuing using this concept, but I would personally love a full game done with this style and mechanics.

5/5 in all fields. You nailed it.

Developer(+2)

Wow.

I know this type of game isn't for everyone, but I'm glad to find someone who enjoyed it this much! This sort of makes the sleepless nights worth it lol.

Also, as the main programmer behind the minigame I'm completely floored. It took a lot of tweaking and I felt it lacked depth of mechanics, like having thought bubbles doing other types of movement and things like that. It all started as a homage to one of the final bosses of Mischief Makers.

Welp, thanks for the feedback!

Developer(+2)

This is too kind. Thank you so much for your kind words!

Submitted(+3)

Interesting concept and good main mechanics.

Submitted(+3)

Just to go over the rating points.. design, great! I don't like this type of games so not much fun for me but didn't go low only middle because I know it's a genre you need to like. Innovation it's not a really new concept or so. BUT it damnly fits well in the theme, good job, loved the story behind it. And great additional audio during gameplay so good job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah in our modern age it's pretty hard to innovate with how many games are out there, especially on our short schedule timeline for game jams! We did try our best to put together a short but entertaining story to fit in the theme though, thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted

You did indeed have a great entry GG

Submitted(+3)

Cool game! That transition when the player dives into the character's memories also looks great!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It was a shader supposed to have a glitch VHS type effect, but it ended up very differently haha! Seemed cool in its own way so we ran with it.

(+3)

really great game! the twist being available right from the start isn't really good, but everything else is incredible!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We decided to make it available to avoid players not seeing it since it's a jam game and most of our testers missed it. Hard to balance these things.

Developer

Hah true, I had a number of friends miss it before we added a notice, but the twist after all is only a piece of the puzzle :)
