I think the game had a good idea behind it, but the movement didn't work that well for precise platforming (especially the end I was not able to land even on the first one).

I liked the idea of remembering where the platform was and trust jumping before switching, could work nicely if the movement/jumping felt a bit better. I can't exactly say what it was about it, it wasn't bad, but it was missing something, it didn't feel like it did exactly what I expected.

Very punishing to start always from the beginning :D I didn't mind it at first, but once I always got through the "easy" part and to the last steps, I was annoyed that I had to run through everything again :D

Thanks for trying the game! Yeah, I think the jumping could use some improvement. I was thinking of adding more aerial control. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to try it. I also thought of adding checkpoints, but I decided to just leave it as it is. In hindsight, adding a checkpoint just before the stairs part might have been a better choice. I appreciate the honest feedback!

I agree with pretty much everything kindman said below (in the first comment, not the ChatGPT romance followup.)

Everything is simple which is not a bad thing and the meat of the game is the challenge of trying to navigate with unreliable platforms. The ending steps are too much for me, I couldn't find the right distance to even land on the first one without overshooting it. I've love to know if anyone completed the course!

Thanks for trying the game!
The trick is to tap or hold the forward direction (the W button) for just a moment and jump immediately.

my first thought was: "oh, unfortunately I played other games with the same concept already, that looked way cooler" but after getting into it, I realized how freaking hard that game actually was and the simplicity worked in it's favour for that. I feel like, I did get a pretty good hang of it, but the "stairs" in the end of the (only first?) level were just so punishing, that I did loose my patience in the end... but I kept going for it at least 20 times, so you did a good amount of things right here.

One last thought: I just had a ten minute discussion with chatGPT because I wanted it to identify the REALLY OLD game that yours kinda reminded me of and that I loved as a kid and after some REALLY bad guesses and me shouting at ChatGPT to concentrate it came up with the right name in the end and then ChatGPT made it awkward when I said I COULD kiss it right now and it totally misunderstood, well, what can you do. here's the game I was thinking about:
https://www.playdosgames.com/play/skyroads/
doesn't have the dimension switch, but that feeling of momentum and trying to nail the jump and especially the DIFFICULTY.

Hey, thanks man. I only had two days roughly to make the game; Thankfully,  I already had the idea in mind, so I just had to settle with primitive meshes and minimalistic graphics to get the game done.
The game only had one level, so my philosophy was to make it increasing in difficulty to mimic the feeling of beating a longer game. The first jumping part was fairly easy; the second one was trickier; the last part (the stairs) is supposed to feel like the final boss, but maybe I took it it a bit too far ><.

And I can see similarity between my game and SkyRoads. To be honest, what inspired me was that level in Titanfall 2. The details are a bit fuzzy in my memory, but you were in a facility and had to shift between past and present to navigate your way. It even had a brief section where you had to jump on platforms like my game, albeit in much easier fashion.

I keep hearing about how amazing the level design in that campaign is supposed to be - it's just hard for me to get through all the shooting ;-)

Developer

Yeah, the campaign was amazing. It is sad we won't be getting another one for a long time. I do agree though that game can be little overwhelming with all the shooting and parkouring you do , especially in the multiplayer modes,

Really enjoyed this! As everyone has said it is incredibly difficult, but it's mechanically sound and a really interesting challenge having to take a leap of faith!

Great work!

Thanks for playing my game!

Nice little game here! I really like being able to jump up and double tap RMB real quick to see where to go next. The ending I though was a little too challenging. I really like to the controls are not too slippery the acceleration and deceleration rates I thing are perfect for the speed of the player and size of the platforms.  Overall great concept and well executed!

Thanks for checking out the game!

Woah that was tough! The platforming feels good, though I got my ass kicked near the end!

Developer

It was even tougher at some point ><... I'm glad I toned it down a bit.

Thanks for playing!

The game, although it has simple graphics, but catchy mechanics. Crazy game. Thank you!

I love platformers, good job on the game! I liked the instant dimension shifting, you could maybe add a dimension preview to locate the platforms on the other dimension easier, that would probably help you add an extra layer of difficulty with a dimension shift cooldown without being overbearing on the player!

Thank you for the game!

Thanks for playing the game! This sounds like an interesting idea; it could even work as an extra ability with a cooldown. I might try it at some point.
I appreciate the feedback!
