A cutscene, 4 levels, strategy, and action.  Great game!

Don't know why but having the dialogue directly after asking the player for their name and heart's desire being "<Playername>:*sigh* I wish I had <thing_you_want>" was very funny to me.  Really liked that opening cutscene and end image.

I actually think you could have got away with making the crumbling happen quicker, since most of the time only one or two tiles crumbled before I could beat a room.  Good idea to have the curses follow you to the next room too - it adds a bit of strategy in choosing the order of the rooms like leaving the most problematic one for last but by then you will have three other curses to deal with.

A nice story based game.  Loved the opening cut scene and how you asked me for my heart's desire as incentive.  Devil still hasn't shown up with the loot, tho...

Yeah sorry, the game was meant to send him an email when someone completed it with what they asked for, but I didn't have time to implement that so you'll have to make do with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Short and sweet! The game loop is there, the project is finished, the game is kinda fun and I didn't see any relevant bugs at all! Very well done for a first project!

I laugh so much with the "surprised sun"! xD Great game, super fun, congrats!

Great job! You said this was your first completed project, which is awesome! The first of many hopefully. I like how the player can choose what order to pick up the different curses in, so you can sort of modulate the difficulty by leaving the worst curses for last.

I think something that would add a lot to the game is a bit more feedback when you or an enemy takes damage. Even just flashing the characters white for a few frames would make a big difference I think, although you could go crazy with knockback, screenshake, etc.

Overall, great job though!

Great game! Especially considering this is your first "completed" project.

I enjoyed the retro feel. I like that it was clean, well executed, arcade like.

The intro was great. Nice touch including the player's own desire. Felt personal.

Well done!

Took me three game retries but finally managed to play it. Really nice to allow people to input name and object of desire and the gameplay itself was actually quite entertaining. Also really liked how the floor "slowly" breaks for the "crumbling location" wildcard, instead of instantly breaking. Nice touch!

Overall, nice job!

This was a super impressive first game. I love the custom dialogue. The game was fun and the open scene gave me a sense of purpose when I was playing the rest of the game. I also love the humor at the start  "I'm not some hack genie" lol. The bosses were fun to fight but maybe add some feedback for when they get hit? I didn't notice the spikes on the ground were hurting me so I think some feedback for the player would be helpful too. You took simple tried and true mechanics and executed the whole thing really well. This game was super fun to play. Great job on the submission!

Loved the intro and the possibility to customise prompts :)

Congrats on your first completed jam game as well as having a good diner!

The game is actually quite good gameplay-wise and original while following the theme nicely with permanent curses and crumbling tiles.

The graphics are always a problem, aren’t they? Our graphic artist was busy so no graphics in our game this jam, but you solved it with style yourself, I lol’d at the intro :D

Extra accessibility points for remappable controls, although I didn’t need to remap them :)

Good stuff, I hope to see more from you on future jams!
