I really liked this! In some ways it felt like looking into a mirror, because I felt that we had some similar beats in our games! I personally wished that the "life sensor" and "metal grabber" were also hot key things and not stuff you have to manually pick out of the inventory, but otherwise, I really enjoyed this!

Thanks so much for playing and I’m glad that you liked it!  I’m actually surprised that you felt similar beats between our two games but that’s a good thing!  I need to play your game sometime during this jam.  I’ll make sure to tend to your feedback as well if I get back to this project!

A cute game that involves an angel trying to get the fuel to return home. The game itself follows a more point and click adventure style. And you do need to try and figure out the correct order of things in order to get through it. The plot that is being unraveled is interesting. I will say that your spritework is the highlight. The amount of customized assets being made to this game is nothing short of impressive. The way you animated the angel is almost impressive and cute too. The expressions on the facebox is pretty cute.

Granted, bugs galore to be found when certain objects are implemented, a couple of wording spelling issues I found and I got a bit confused with getting through all the obstacles here and there. The lack of direction doesn't fully help things.

Its not a bad entry, a bit more polish and a better direction would elevate the game further.

My thoughts while playing the game.

+ = I liked it

- = I didn't like it

* = Neutral/suggestion

---

+ Cool title screen. I love the menu arrangement and design. I also love that there's animation going on.

+ I love the art! Even the character text box portrait gets a lot of love with those colored backgrounds accentuating the emotions.

+ You overcame an issue I'm seeing in a lot of the games in this jam: telling the player how things work and what to do

+ Oh that's a cool custom menu!

- There seems to be a few stray pixels along the lower side  of your window skin. Just a minor issue though.

+ I'm digging the atmospheric soundtrack

- I'm not sure what I'm looking for when I use the life reservoir detector. I know I'm looking for auras and I know that I need fuel, but what does that look like?
 * I think I figured it out

+ I love the big glowing border around the interactive elements.

- It's kinda weird that you can bring up the menu while viewing the save/options menu. Dunno if it matters but I typically use Z and X keys.

- I put down the sign board and couldn't bring up my objects menu for a while. I thought I might have been soft locked, but I moved around a bit and eventually was able to bring it up.
 * I discovered I had to bring up the save/options menu to get unstuck

- I'm not sure where to place the box
 * I eventually figured it out

+ Cool posters

- I got stuck here. The controls no longer respond despite idle animations playing. I have to reload.
 * I discovered the issue was due to the box being behind my character, so a movement sequence wasn't able to play out properly.

- It's possible to put the box in the flooded room in a place where you can't get it back. Oops.
+ Fortunately the room resets if you reenter

+ Is there randomness in the layout of the wire puzzle? It's a pretty simple puzzle, but cool if it's randomly generated.

- Minor spelling error: "This feels...actually good." Has an extra L.

* It's been over an hour and I've gotten to a point where I'm not sure what to do next, so I'm going to stop.

Summary

This is a charming game with lively characters and excellent art. It's reminiscent of point-and-click games (it's very similar to another game I've seen, "Moop"), and while you did a pretty good job of avoiding the pitfalls of "what do I do now" and moon logic, there still were moments where I had to just randomly try something because the next step wasn't obvious. There's a pretty good variety of puzzles that aren't terribly difficult and keep things interesting.

The story is a major point of this game, and it does a good job of showing and evoking feelings while maintaining an air of mystery. We know enough about the character to get invested and get motivated to do the next task, but there's also these hints about things not being what they seem. Very cool.

Overall, I'm impressed with this game. Well done!

Thanks Kv for playing and your in-depth analysis!  I really appreciate it as it gives me more insight into what the player might be thinking.  First of all, I’m glad that you love the art, that always makes me feel appreciated!  Secondly, about finding out what to do to progress, if I can go back to this project, I’ll make each item’s description more helpful on what they can do and perhaps I’ll add a hint system.  Thirdly, about the bugs, I’m sorry that you had to experience them, but thank you for finding them.  I barely had any time to test for what bugs people might find, so this helps me out a lot in future versions.  Overall, thank you for the feedback!

I love all of the custom / hand-drawn-looking art in this and had a blast playing this one. It's very well-explained and pretty straightforward. I'd love to keep playing in the future! :)

Intriguing little game and I enjoyed gradually learning what each object in my inventory did and then applying it. Thank you for easing the player in and teaching how to play the game! I was enjoying how the plot was slowly unravelling and I'm kinda hoping you continue with it to be honest! With some polish I think it could go far.

I liked the mystery of the underlying plot on what happened to Evelyn. Nice little puzzle adventure game.  My only wish is for navigating your inventory menu would be a little bit quicker!

Developer

Thanks Nowis!  I'm glad you liked it!  If I'm able, I'll be sure to try to make the inventory have more speed!

I really had a fun time with this, especially since I was able to break it in a few places. I adore the main character's disposition that is totally oblivious to the world around it. Very cute, want more.

Developer

I’m glad you enjoyed it!  I’ll make sure to fix the breaks once this jam is over lol, hopefully it’ll be enjoyable still!

Thanks for playing!  Hopefully I can work on this again after voting.  There’s some more content and story I wanted to have!
