Nice twist on the theme, but the aiming felt really inaccurate and floaty. Music and sound effects are pretty good tho

Submitted

I can't believe how tense the game got, especially at the very end! That paired with the music made it really fun to play. Great work!

Submitted

Like other people said, I think small improvements could be made (like a better aiming system or more feedback when zombies are shot). That's said, I enjoyed it a lot! I don't know if the super-epic music is the reason, but I would give my life for that little tree! :_D

Submitted

Amazing epic background music. Sometimes I was confused if I hit the infected or not. Despite of that very good game.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes the game definitely needs some better feedback for when you damage the zombies infected - at the moment they simply stop and look around a bit! :D

Good game, super tense in the end, really enjoyed it! And it was awesome having you on stream yesterday! Here's the VOD if you want to check that out again: (yours starts at 1:01:54)

Thanks very much! It was great watching someone play it tbh! I tried hard to get the right balance of difficulty at the latter stages of the game, so pleased it worked out as I intended!

Maybe the only 3rd person shooter in the jam! Aiming system could be improved, but this is a lot for a game jam. Very good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much! Yeah the aiming could probably be improved really easily actually - at the moment there are 3 rays cast from your gun that have about a 10 degree spread, when you fire you do 1 damage for each ray that collides, and the infected have 3 hp - this means that you can kill them in one shot if you're close enough but the gun is less effective at longer range (it is a shotgun after all!). The problem is that at longer distances its more difficult to land that shot... if I up the casts to 5 or 7, and increase the infected's hp to suit then it would be easier to hit them and shouldn't ruin the balance too much...

"what happens when tree reaches full growth?" kept me engaged :D well done, i know you had some stress with this one so good job on making and submitting it! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks Valor! Now go and improve your game so I can buy it as a full release! :D

Woow, I love seeing fps games in gamejams. They are hard to make from the start and quite a challenge. I loved shooting the zombies and protecting my tree. Small feedback if I can. The zombies could have random speed. That way when you try to move away from your tree, it's at the risk of having a zombie rush at it and destroy it. Loved that game, you can be proud of what you made is so little time ๐Ÿ˜„

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I weirdly didn't think about randomising their movement speeds... There's some randomisation on their distance and when they spawn, but not speed... interesting idea!

Submitted

Cool idea! Would've been nice to have some kind of indicator or feedback so I know when I've hit, but other than that great job for the time you spent on it!

Developer(+1)

Absolutely agree! Its top of my list of things to add, if I work on it at all post-jam! Thanks for playing!

The take on theme is nice, the gameplay could be improved with time.

nice game

Submitted

Yes, what was said before, pretty ambitious and creative implementation of the theme. Hit indicators was I think what I was missing the most.

Submitted

That's some pretty intense music :D That was super ambitious to make a third person shooter during a jam. You did a great job with those animation assets and the damage falloff is a really cool touch as well. It's a shame there's no feedback on a hit and the crosshair isn't visible above the targets. I enjoyed it though, and managed to save the tree.

Developer(+1)

Hehe, thanks! Yeah I almost threw my laptop out of the window at a number of points! (Devlog video coming soon!) I think that I might have been a little silly doing back-to-back jams, but hey - what's life without a little stress and lack of sleep!?

Submitted(+1)

Yeah back to back jams is a little nuts mate! :D

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea and looks good! I had trouble aiming, I had to walk right up to the enemies to shoot them

Developer

Just like a real shotgun, right? ;) Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Twins! We made a game with the exact same concept

Developer

Hooray! I'll have to give yours a try too! :D

Submitted(+1)

Well made for this small amount of time!

I was worried too when I saw the small freeze, but it wasn't that long, so I guess it's still a nice idea to put the warning in the description :p.

I guess you already know what kind of more polished thing you could have added, but really, it worked pretty well for a 8-10h game, well done!

Developer

Thanks very much! Yeah I had another jam game when the same thing happened between dialog and 3D scene, which literally every comment pointed out! Thought I'd get in there early!

Developer

...as for polishing, I'd be happy to hear your feedback and ideas!

(+1)

nice game but would be better with some blood and visible bullets, also why are the zombies attacking the tree but not the man

Developer

They're not zombies, just "infected" with some horrible nature-attacking disease ๐Ÿ˜‚ Yeah it totally needs a lot of polish, but it's what I could get done in the 8 hours I had!

Submitted(+1)

Really nice concept :D
