How does you game fit the theme?
Clockwork Dreams fits the "It Is Not Real" theme in that Bot-Bot (the player) is a faulty robot which interacts with the environment / puzzles to discover what is real and what is fake.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Almost all assets and code were made from scratch, except for a reference player model and some Unity assets.

Wow, game's amazing, what can I say? Graphics are just incredible, game was really fun and fits the theme quite well. Only one thing, I downloaded the build because I had some fps issues playing on the browser, however the audio didn't seem to work on the build, is it just a problem for me? Anyways, apart from that, this game is incredible, props for doing all of this in a week :)

Developer(+1)

We did experience some performance hick ups in the web build, but the downloadable Windows build was rather issue free. Not sure, what might cause the issues on your side :S

I really liked most of the game though I felt like the player was a little slippery but I still really liked it

This was a good game but I feel like I didn't quite live up to its potential. This might just be the incredibly high bar set by the graphics (needless to mention but amazing work Kristians) but I didn't feel like the scanning mechanic was really explored. I just kept clicking the mouse button and jumping on the platforms that showed up; if I fell then I jumped on a different platform next time. It didn't feel like a puzzle game but more "hey, look at these cool levels you need to hardcore parkour your way through". I understand that I'm being overly critical of a game that was literally made in less than a week but I feel like this has a lot of potential. Being able to reveal what's real is an interesting mechanic but it feels like it's just been added on top of an existing game instead of having the levels designed with it in mind. Don't get me wrong, it's still a lot better than mine; it's just that when you excel in one or two categories any shortcomings are a lot more apparent.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! It's been nice to have the game well received but I really appreciate understanding what our shortcomings were, so thank you for the constructive feedback too. Lesson learned for next jam :D Thanks again!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your comment and time you took for writing it, this means a lot, honestly. I completely agree pretty much on everything you said. And as a team we already discussed how we could solve this in future. We made some bad strategic decisions at the start on how different departments worked on the game and in what order (I believe we had the talent, but we came short when we tried to fit pieces together, mainly because of our inexperience).  On the next jam we will concentrate on base mechanic and play-test hopefully on day one, work on small "platform puzzle areas" on the map, then build outwards from there, in that way we could create a game with more cohesive feel, where game design, visuals, audio and aminations came together more organically.

I'm really glad you've both responded positively to the feedback; I was really worried I was too harsh. It sounds like you've learnt a lot from this jam which is completely the point of doing these. Hopefully, this will stick with you for the next one and, if I'm also in it, I'm going to struggle to compete alongside you guys. You've got some real talent on your team, so I'm sure you'll do well with whatever your plans are for the future. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing what you can accomplish.

What an incredible gameplay experience! The art and gameplay are phenomenal, and the real/unreal platform mechanic was super cool! Very atmospheric and well put together, with so much content too for a game jam game! The level design and sound designer fit the game perfectly! Awesome work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and sharing your kind words! I'm glad you liked the amount of content, we actually had to trim the second and third level so it wasn't too long :')

Looks great even in a browser! The controls were pretty smooth for me - which was nice!

Developer

That's great, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for playing and leaving your feedback!

The graphics are so nice and the lighting + SFX are really good, the white lights are a bit too blinding though😂

It took me a while to get used to the controls, the robot moves exactly where you want him to but I guess I'm not too used to this viewing angle.😂

Great submission!

Developer

Ahaha thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it. The question was always "How much more bloom?" not "Should we add more bloom?", sorry if we flash-banged you!

The graphics are super great. Good job. :)

Thank you thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to play and comment :D

Very impressive game, the art is so good and the gameplay feel nice to play, my only criticism would be that the white lights on the cables where to bright for me It made me look away from the screen, and also the jump sound effect felt a little mistimed with the animation, but other than that fantastic job, really hope you guys get a good ranking for you graphics, they are gorgeous :D

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and leaving your feedback, I'm thrilled that you liked it. I think I get what you mean about the jump sound effect but I have to admit, when playtesting I was nonstop jumping because I enjoyed it so much. I completely get what you mean with the cable lights though. Thanks again for the feedback!

Holy cow. Not only does it run in browser with the 3D, but it looks gorgeous. I only experienced lag once, and the controls handle surprisingly well. I thought with all the turning and jumping at different angles, with arrow keys would be really difficult and frustrating but I found the character usually moved exactly where I wanted. Really well made and incredible atmosphere.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and leaving your feedback! It warms my heart that you praised the player controls :') Thanks again and I'm super pleased that you liked it.

If this isn't in the top 10 in the Graphics score I will be dissapointed. Such a beautiful game for such a short time! Very well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot - hats off to the 3D modeller, Kristians. I appreciate you taking the time to play and comment!

The graphics are so great provided that you are using Unity. I initially thought that this was built in unreal. My suggestion probably is the camera movement. It starts to get too shaky especially during fast movements but still, all in all a great game, good job!

Developer

Thanks heaps for playing, and thanks for the feedback. We did try to keep the camera in mind, but always good to know where it fell short. I'm glad you liked the graphics, with a bit of work Unity definitely has some graphical juice in it!

Graphics are relly good, and the controller too ! :)
Don't Hesite to test our submission ! :)

Extremely good graphics. Well done with the lighting.

Developer

Thanks for commenting, glad you liked it!

A really solid 3d platformer, managed to complete the game. Graphics and lighting are really well done. I feel that the level design should explore more on situations where you should NOT be scanning, as there isnt any drawback for just spamming the scan button and just revealing the next platform you should jump to.

Submitted(+3)

I love the robot characters and bees.  I had a lot of trouble getting past the first moving platform set, but the game looks very nice.  Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, I think with a bit more time I think we would've added a more introductory set of moving platforms.
