Very creative solution for the boat and the way the water works and the effects, is simply beautiful, the story is great and easy to follow and the gameplay is fun and engaging, would love to see an expanded version with even more exploration or trips like this. The sound design was also very good, cheers for the entire team.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you made the ocean, it's so inspiring and I immediately feel an urge to do something similar. I love the way this was tied together. The arts, sound and controls are so smooth and comfortable (alltough, as a frequent Sea of Thieves player I found myself believing I'd done something wrong when I didn't hear the *thunk* when the wheel was centralised, lol). A lot of times playing jam games, you find many good ideas and, expectedly - "unfinished" games, and you think about ways to improve, ways to add more features and fix stuff, but this is one of those games where I don't really "see any reason" for it. Sure, the look of this and the way of playing the game would make it amazing to develop further, with missions and cargo runs and mapping and so on and so on. But this game does not require any of that to be a great piece in itself. You had a mission, a deadline and a theme, and you managed to do exactly what was required and you did it so unbelievably well. There are no loose ends here, not once I felt like "oh, this was a bit sad it didn't work but I guess that was because of high ambitions and low time and it will probably be fixed in an update after the jam" - this may be the most solid submission I've seen to date.

Loving it! You did amazing work here!

The sailing feels very nice. Really quite relaxing, even during the stormy section. Excellent audio as well, ties it all together.

After seeing your progress in the Discord it's great to see the finished game! The graphics are seriously impressive work. If I had one criticism it's that it isn't very obvious that the ship is being damaged when you run into the rocks - a crunching sound or a visual indicator of remaining health would be really good. Otherwise, amazing!

Developer(+1)

The ship has no health, it's a one-hit kill, the collisions are funky xD

Thanks!

Oh! That explains it, haha

Cool very nicely polished. I also love the 2.5D art.

Very well built and assembled game. Recreates the water travel experience really well.

What a hell of a storm! Really well made game. The steering feels so satisfying and I did not expect the animation at the end which is a plus point from me. Amazing job!

This game is great and really well made. I enjoyed the ship controls, and the instructions on paper. I just wish the levels last a little longer, and the wind and the water drift your ship's direction and make more difficult to sail. But overall, I gave it 5/5, great job.

Really good game, the movement of the boat feels really nice and has good story and animation

Well this is just brilliant! I'm a big fan of faking 3D with 2D graphics and you've done a super job. The storm in particular is terrific with lightning bolts etc.

There is huge potential in this - you could make the sailing more realistic - banking the ship when sailing close to the wind, dolphins jumping around, different coastlines with ports etc

Smooth sailing controls, relaxing. I found the objectives of the game to be a bit confusing at first, but it worked alongside the calm pace of it all. Well done. :)

One of the best game on the submissions! really well made for a 7-days project! Game difficulty is also just correct, not too difficult yet not too easy at the same time! Well done!

This game is awesome! Looks and feels like a finished product (I didn't find any of the bugs listed on the game's page). The visual and sound design is perfect. Great job!

As I already said on Discord: Great game, man! The most impressive thing for me is the smart implementation one can "see" when looking from the point of a developer and designer.

The other impressive point worth mentioning is the level of completeless you reached in shuch a short amount of time.

Good job!

The ship gameplay feels really nice, with the waves, sounds, and steering. I wasn't sure when to use the sails, I left them always on after the first time I toggled them... maybe that's why I sank in the storm? I was going to give some feedback about the UI elements being too far away and the camera moving when I move the mouse to it, but I think that is because I am on a widescreen... I was thinking maybe the Captain Log and Sail toggle could be incorporated in the ship itself so they are handier as well as more integrated. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Yes I agree the UI elements could have been better dealt with, but widescreen definitelly makes things weird. It's because of the way I programmed the scaling. I also think that in larger screens it also doesn't render things as intended.

All things to keep in mind for next time I do something like this. I programmed this from scratch for the first time, so yea xD

Thank you!

Turning the ship and navigating through the waves was incredibly satisfying. The visuals for the wavy ocean were really cool too!

Great game! I loved the ending!

Developer
