This was loads of fun! And nice to see that you managed to get the leaderboards working :D I took a look at the code – something to do with FKS? do you have any suggestions to what I can look into to get a leaderboard working? I tried to use dreamlo but didnt succeed with getting the leaderboard to work in itch.io

Wow... someone looked at my ugly source code... AND was able to actually track through some of it!  Kudos to you! As for the leaderboard stuff, FKS is my "studio" (FussenKuh Software). aka, I made up a meaningless name for myself. Anything under the FKS namespace is stuff that I've cobbled together over the years to reuse across all of my games.  The leaderboard stuff is a recent addition. It's something I pieced together from reading this blog post https://blog.generistgames.com/creating-a-simple-unity-online-leaderboard/  It's fairly straightforward, but does require you to have access to your own webserver.  Ultimately, I'd say it's not a solution I'd ever use for any "real" game. But, lucky for me, I don't publish real games and I think it works just fine for Game Jams.

Thanks for checking out my submission!

LOL your commit messages were rather informative :)

hahah yeah im in the same boat – these game jams are fun but I think a “real” game would take a rather long time haha. Thanks for the blog post! Ill check it out!

Really nicely polished, great game feel, a great base for a full fledged top down game. I love the multiplayer, the tutorial, and the controls a lot. The lighting is really nice also.

Very nicely done tutorial and gameplay mechanics!

The game was great. I played the game a lot until I got rank 3 on the leaderboard (I was skex). There was one small glitch I encountered though. While I was playing, it suddenly started hanging, and then when the game started running again, the music just stopped but everything else worked normally. Didn't bother me too much, I continued playing after that. Good job on making a really fun and challenging game!

Interesting gameplay, the game is very fun!

Interesting concept, I liked the darkness/fog of war!

I like the gameplay,

Pretty hard when the enemies get too much.

But overall Good job

I'll be coming back to get the high score on this later. This game is a blast and a half to play. Rapid tapping the clicking while running away from 20 enemies fills you with such a rush. Can't wait to come back for more.

What an interesting game! I loved the lighting, and the little polish details like music changing when your health is low. And interesting take on the theme!

If run while shooting everything in sight was a game. Really fun and action packed. The way enemies just appear, and you don't know where they are adds to the thrill.

Really fun simple game. Cool visual style - love the use of text and raycast lighting. Would prefer if the controls were relative to direction  like an FPS but that's just my preference. Great work!

I like the minimalist design and the impact and feedback of shooting and hitting enemies feels good. It seems that the enemies randomly spawn near you which made it a bit hard and complicated for me to know when how to engage the enemies. For example, if they always spawned from a source that I could destroy then I know what to expect the closer I get to them instead of having to manage distance, orientation, surroundings, health, and ammo. Other than that, it is a polished game.

An awesome looking design and interesting gameplay!

A truly addictive game!!

the leaderboard system made me play until I get my name on it

Developer

Not only did you get your name on the leaderboard, but you're currently in first place!  Well done and thanks for playing!

the gameplay here is fantastic! there's some form of "economy" between looking where you're walking to avoid running into enemies, and looking backwards to shoot baddies chasing you, and I love it! I really hope you develop this more, especially with improved visuals. very well done!

The constant bending of the lighting when walking around really made me feel like I was exploring underground passageways, never knowing when a small opening would actually lead to a big room or a thin corridor, and the darkness of the shadows was making me physically move my head trying to get a better "look" around lol. Nice job on that, I felt immersed in the underground. Also the interactive intro was a great touch - better than simply reading controls.
