love it!

Point and click + horror game = Winwin

I really enjoy this kind of games and this one was no exception, with the simple and cute art, the scares are predictable many times, but it's totally enjoyable. Thank you for this lil gem.

thanks for playing ^^

I had a lot of fun playing this game! I love point-and-clicks although the main type I play is the puzzle variant, whereas I don't play horror games very often. This review is mostly focused on the first playthrough of "Hush Little Lily". Although I did eventually see all endings, I was told by the dev that the rest that comes after the first are considered optional.

The story seems to have a good depth of enjoyment for players both familiar and unfamiliar to the genre: Horror fans probably can see the ending coming, but for me it's a surprising twist. On hindsight the clues are laid out very well of what the story is building towards, but I have the bad habit of coming in with an expectation so I wasn't completely paying attention. With the premise of being kidnapped by demons and Lily's fear of them eating her, I was expecting something comparable to "The Promised Neverland", and imagined that I had to remember the map layout to escape (when a map of the house was presented eventually).

Miscellaneous highlights:

- The UI is great. Shows what parts of the background is clickable and there's a cardinal directions icon in each room to tell you where the doors are located.

- The house/dungeon has a sensible feeling to it with the placement of the rooms. The way the backgrounds are drawn shows a good understanding of space that makes you feel immersed in the location.

- The banter with Lily is great. Gives a bit of a light-hearted mood between the moments when the monster does not reveal itself yet, while at the same time it brings a certain melancholy when we learn from what kind of home she comes from.

- There are quite nice tense moments in the game. Pleasant jumpscares. The slow-motion drawer animation and the dead-end rooms are very good at building up suspense!

- I love the nursery rhyme with how it can be sung along with the rhythm of the lullaby. Always a joy when it comes up.

- The music enhances the horror atmosphere very well.

Light spoiler from context-less impression:

When the monster followed you into the room, I laughed that it is a bad move to keep us alive, because we're going to kick your ass later! The fact that there is a prompt to hide under the desk was funny as well, because that sounded terrible... not that the bed was much better.

Beware, there will be spoilers in this comment, although I'll try to be vague.

Ohhh I loved this. It's definitely not your typical VN, considering the amount of point & click compared to the amount of text, but it was still fun.

So, this entire time I was just sort of thinking "well, I don't like kids, so I wish we were here with some other character"... buuut then the ending happened, haha. It's just the right kind of messed up for a Halloween jam!

I loved the twist and the overall game was enjoyable. I think it had just the right length, too. While I'm not a huge fan of jumpscares, that's mainly because I hate when horror movies rely on them too much. You didn't do that in this game - they were rare and placed appropriately.

You probably don't need me to tell you that your assets and overall polish are great. I assume others have done that already :D

However, I like to leave at least *some* feedback for how to improve a game. It's kind of difficult for this one since it's so polished, so pardon the nitpicking. I think in some of the point and click sections, it wasn't quite clear when clickable objects that were on top of each other, were actually two different options.

Like when a book is on top of a table, both highlight as one big blue area, suggesting they are the same interactable object. Making it so that the reader can tell that clicking on the table leads to different lines than clicking on the book probably goes way past the scope of a jam game, but if you want to keep updating this, it may be worth it to somehow make it clear whenever interactable objects are on top of each other.

That being said, it *does* add another level of difficulty if you have to guess which objects lead to different descriptions, so if that's the goal, then you achieved it. However, from a usability standpoint, this may in turn cause the user to keep clicking on the same object, thinking there may be lines they have missed, and instead getting the same dialogue over and over again. I hope that made sense.

It's a bit difficult to balance and depends on what you're going for :D

Anyway, this was an impressive experience. I only unlocked one ending so far, so this will be another one of the games I'll revisit after I've had time to check out a bunch of other amazing jam entries! I've been nice to Lily in my first playthrough, but I'm excited to find out what happens if I'm not :)

Thanks for the feedback!

The second playthrough is a different experience haha, it's made for people who felt bad during the first playthrough. Guess I can say it's like dessert ahhahaha

Now I'm even more curious!

Hey there!

I really enjoyed this game. I've always loved escape room games and multi-ending stories. This game has the best of both worlds.

I found plot and gameplay well-balanced. I love how the story slowly unravels through your interactions with Lily. The choices kept me intrigued. (The puzzle aspect too, of course!)

The art and UI go well with the genre. Also, Lily is so cute!

Overall, I found this to be a very entertaining horror VN.

Great job, and good luck for the jam!

This was fun :3 All the art was gorgeous! Oh, and the search tool was much appreciated because I'm the type of player who will give up pretty easily with that sort of gameplay and just go look at a guide or leave the game >.<  So having that was brilliant! And everything else I will have to say under...

SPOILERS

So yeah, I definitely enjoyed playing through! I'm not really a fan of little kids, so I wasn't as soul-destroyed as some players xD (Just went and browsed comments after reaching the first ending.) Now, if Lily had been a dog, cat, or pretty much any other animal, different story because I have been known to cry at the death of animal companions in video games, haha. I'm just not a people person x3

She was still super cute though in terms of design and stuff! I just didn't care about what happened to her because I'm a monster. Sorry T_T hehe. Even so, I'm not quite as monstrous as MC xD I had a feeling that might be the path it was going down when the first opportunity to sing came up, but I still enjoyed watching it all play out!

I'll have to check out the additional endings later in the month cos I'm trying to play a bit of all the games while I have the time :3

Oh, and I really loved the title menu change after 1st time completion! Little details like that always get me excited :D

Thanks and Lol. I like kids especially my baby brother so I cried a lot while working on this ahahhaha. But I have to remind myself that it's fictional lol

Aww, well, it shows how passionate a person you are :3 And I've been close to tears myself when working on stuff that's close to my heart, so I don't blame ya, haha. My dislike of kids doesn't change the fact that it's an absolutely fantastic game anyhow!

It was super cool game ,Well I will be honest Lily is soo cute.If I could hug her in real life,I will not hesitate.🥰Good work

Congrats to both you and Orlon!

I really enjoyed the game! The little hints were placed from the very beginning(as they should), so I was already expecting the ending (I got ending #1). So confirming my suspicions made it even more enjoyable.

Thank you!!! <33

If you are a person who likes plot twists and dark themes like me then this game fits halloween and you!

Thanks for the rec X33

I really enjoyed this game! Nice work. The point and click gameplay was fun and the animations were so smooth. This game was legitimately terrifying too.  I had to look away from my screen when some of the drawers opened LOL.

Without spoiling, I got one ending that was a unexpected twist! O_o

One thing is that I'd love to know more details about the backstory of the setting and the protagonist! Maybe I'll learn more once I attempt more endings?

Overall, great job!
