So I've been hearing some talks about people trying to get their data paid for, and I'm just wondering what the community thinks about selling their works to AI companies for their model training data, maybe through some online marketplace?

The way I see it, AI companies might very likely use our data whether we sell it (know about it) or not, so why not just give creators the option to at least make money off it?

Or is there already a platform for selling data? (For game dev/creative works?)

I think it's an issue that could be solved in many ways, and I look forward to hearing the different opinions. So, if you don't agree with someone else's opinion in the thread, please don't start a war! Be nice and respectful <3

Hey! I think this is an interesting idea. Though, out of personal curiosity, I'm just wondering what you consider as different between OpenStory and similar platforms, like Character.AI and AI Dungeon, etc. What is your inspiration? Thanks!

Hey, thanks for pointing that out!

I added that part exactly for transparency. I wanted people to know how much I actually contributed and which part is AI-made, because I do believe that all art forms are important. Though it's always nice to hear how different people see this.

The full version of 0808-2018-a is out! Thank you all for the insightful feedback for the demo!

Hope you all enjoy!

The full version contains a point-and-click minigame, so for best experience, please play in a desktop computer browser.

For those who played the demo, the full version basically continues on from the demo ending, but it's recommended to click "Start" and skip to the demo ending part instead of directly loading saves since there are some changes.

Artifact #: 0808-2018-a

Description: Artifact #0808-2018-a appears to be a visual novel titled The Tower developed by Dr. [REDACTED].

Artifact #0808-2018's content is a multi-ending story centered around a protagonist waking up in a fictional world, near a tower said to grant wishes. The protagonist must navigate the world to find out the reason for their presence there.

Artifact #0808-2018-a combines Dr. [REDACTED]'s surreal dreamscapes, interest in game mechanics, and various art styles to convey personal reflections on the cyclical nature of life and various social issues.

ACTUAL CREATOR'S NOTE

Hey all! It's the (real) creator Button Cupcake here.

This is the second work in the 0808 series (set in the same universe).  YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE PLAYED OTHER WORK(S) IN THE SERIES TO PLAY THIS ONE.

This has 6 endings. It's a bit of a puzzle game as choices, dialogues, and endings are unlocked based on prior plays' endings AND the current play's choices so far.

It is also a part of school projects to leverage GenAI for storytelling. The story/code/gameplay design is entirely human-made. Only the visuals and some sounds are from AI.

Hey! Just a suggestion. Maybe it would be easier for people to answer if you make some survey questionnaire on Qualtrics or something (if statistics are what you're aiming for). Also, giving an anonymous option might help too.

The graphics are cute and love the lore you wrote for each sprite.

The music and art go well together

Love how you used cloud & building for the upper/lower pipes of Flappy Bird. Fits the theme

Already commented in the game page, but I find it innovative/interesting how you've integrated things!

fun like clicker games and cute art UwU

Interesting how you've integrated different AI tools to different aspects of dev!

Fun & addictive like those clicker games. The art is cute UwU

Thanks!

Thank you so much for your support! And Slay the Princess is an awesome work. I do like replayable ones with weird twists :)

Aw thank you! Hope to see you around too!

I guess this one? https://itch.io/jam/ai-browser-game-jam/entries

Hello,

This jam looks so cool. I just have a question about the theme as it can be interpreted in different ways. The way I see it, Ghost in the Machine can mean:

1. AI having consciousness

2. a more metaphorical interpretation of someone feeling like a "ghost" in a machine

3. a more literal interpretation of an actual ghost/soul (of a once human) trapped in a machine

Does any of these work?

Thank you!

Hey! Glad to hear from you too! Been busy lately XD

Thanks for the support! Let me know if you have any questions!

Really enjoyed this! Loved the combination of realistic characterization and colorful visuals! This might start with a breakup, but the story turns out to be pretty cute.

Congrats and best of luck for the full version :)

Thank you so much for the feedback! I love the SCP lore. Honored that this fiction made you feel something similar!

Thanks ;)

This story simulates a computer file. It's text-based, but the text and GUI contribute to the visual of the story environment. I asked if it's okay. Thank you for accepting this! <3

Hello! Is there a way to DM you? I have a more specific question.

Thank you for trying this out and for the lovely comment!
