Regarding the PG rating

I just want to clear up what is the criteria for PG for this Jam?

Usually it's non excessive gore, no nudity, avoiding topics of suicide.

Is a little blood okay? Guns? I was going for a little mystery/suspense narrative

The 'as close to PG as possible' guide is just to keep the submissions as non-traumatising as possible for our judges. Blood, guns and violence are fine, and a mystery/suspense narrative sounds really great!

Thanks for asking, we're really looking forward to what you produce!

Question - what about character death? My game has a character death that is not graphic/detailed or homicide/suicide/etc. It's just something that happens. I'm not sure if this is the right game for this jam as I obviously don't want it to be traumatizing  to encounter a character death so I thought I should ask so I can know whether to plan and submit something different. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the question, and thanks for being considerate.
The type of death you've described is fine, not an issue in this gamejam!
Thanks!

About the topic of suicide, if it isn't explicitly mentioned in our story and it's presented in a non-explicit manner, is it okay?

My story is set in a surreal world so the person doesn't actually die, but the action they perform would be suicidal in the real world.

Hi there, it very much depends on how you handle the topic. Generally speaking I'd say try to stay away from the topic, we want this gamejam to be open to everyone, and to be as inclusive as possible.
If your game does include suicide, make sure there is a warning in place that is very visible for everyone to see and it should be fine.

Hi Sigh - I saw your message about including a content warning regarding suicide.  When you have time, can you take a look at the latest comment on my submission page regarding my content warning?  Let me know if it's acceptable or if there's anything else you'd like me to do.  Thanks!

You have very clearly outlined what happens and how you get there, no surprises. Perfect.
