Yeah it does :D

I'm glad! Thanks for sharing your video, I'll check it out.

You're welcome! Very glad you liked it and that it had a positive effect on your day 👍

Thaaankyou for your kind words! Cheers for playing and sharing your videos. I'm really glad you liked it.

The cosy/spooky split happened pretty late in development. It was all one story originally but at some point I had the idea that it'd be nice to let the player decide what kind of vibe they wanted. Especially since it was supposed to be a Christmas season game :D

I hope you do get around to playing Waterbourne Immersion. Would love to see your playthrough and hear your thoughts!

Thanks again!

Haha cheers for the video!

Maybe one day I'll get around to doing some more. Glad you liked them, thanks for commenting!

There was a time travelling incident :D

Hey! Thank you for your kind words and I'm happy you like Stevens so much!

I've had a few people approach me about translating it, but they have always wanted the source files to do so which seemed too sketchy to me to agree to. But if you are offering to supply a translated script for me to implement into the game myself then yeah, I am interested. Where would be a good place to DM you about it?

Haha yeah, I was wondering how obvious the Stevens reference was :D

I've commented over on Youtube, but thanks again for this, appreciated. And glad you liked it!

Thank you so much for the feedback! It was a lot of fun crafting a beautifully aesthetic experience, and then making it horrifying :D

Personally attacked.

Good stuff. Love the art style. Definitely needs instructions for the web version though.

Haha I think that's the first time anyone has described it as 'cute' to me, love it :D

Glad you liked it(?) Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment!

Yay! A comment that doesn't point out how short it is! :D

It was also telegraphed by 'inter' being 'winters' without the 'w' and 's'. But I didn't really expect anyone to pick that up. I was going to end the spooky version with 'inter' showing up on screen and the w and s fading into place with a '2' behind it. But I decided an abrupt 'the end' was better :D

Thank you so much for you feedback and thoughtful commentary. I'm very glad you liked it!

Glad you liked it and thought it was cute. Just watched it the video, the game audio was a little high, competed with your voice a bit. But it was fun! Thanks for playing and sharing!

It was for a game jam and I spent too much time sourcing all the imagery and working out all the code to make everything move. The story was a bit of an afterthought. Both routes make the play time come out around 15 mins which is pretty normal for my games :D But yeah, it was very short. I was originally going to have a playlist of songs but it ended up being short enough to not need it and the spooky ending made reference to the song. It would be cool to have the money to licence a bunch of Christmas songs though :D

As with everything, I never say never. I may come back to this one day and expand it out. We'll see.

Thanks for playing and commenting, much appreciated!

Yay! Someone else played it! Merry Christmas to me! :D Glad you'd reroll!

Cheers for playing and sharing your video!

Was just looking into it and apparently Chrome 100 did something that made Ren'Py web games unplayable. It's reportedly working again now with new builds, but I'm going to have to re-build and reupload everything . Which I will do as soon as I can.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, appreciate it.

Weird. Unfortunately Ren'Py's web export is only in beta so it's not fully supported and is occasionally problematic. But I've only really encountered problems with Webkit browsers so far.

Did you play the first two games? If so, did they run okay?

What hardware are you running it on?

:3 <3

Cheers!

You're welcome, glade you liked it. Thanks for playing and sharing your vid!

Huzzah! I don't know if I'm going to do any more. The amount of people who played dropped off over each game and hardly anyone played this one so I was assuming interested had faded. If I come up with a really good idea for a new one I'll probably do it. But I'm not going to force it.

Thanks for playing and commenting though. Appreciate it!

That was really cool. Very playful tone throughout with nice drama and emotional scenes mixed in.

I liked the stark black and white aesthetic. There was sometimes a bit of inconsistency between the characters and backgrounds, but it wasn’t too distracting. The character designs were all pretty fun.

I liked the music. Simple but effective and fitting.

I didn’t like how you had to click a specific area to progress the text. But that may just reveal how lazy I am :D Also it could have done with a save feature. Or if there was one, for it to be more obvious. I think it was long enough to warrant it.

I did appreciate that failing the chase sequences didn’t send you back to the title screen though.

All in all, fun little game. Well done!

PS: I ended up making friends with the jerk vampire, btw :D

Yeah, definitely not ruined. Although considering I spent about a third of my post complaining about it, you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise 😅Apologies again!

It's Diary Hero Spae! <3

Thank you my friend! You are lovely and awesome and wonderful.

I am going to make a extended enhanced edition eventually just for you so you and Amica can go out on a date :D

I legit thought I had replied to this, I'm so sorry!

Thank you for all your kind words and taking the time to play the game in the first place! It means so much! As I'm sure you know.

I'm glad you liked it! I'm also a big fan of the escape room concept and I thought it'd be cool to have something that could be exactly that but then with more story and intrigue going on around and behind the scenes.

I am proud that you feel proud! That's exactly the kind of reaction I was hoping for with the puzzles. Not so hard as to frustrate the player, but enough to create a sense of accomplishment. Funny you mention Zero Escape too. I'm currently playing through it. I'm really liking it, but I also really hate maths... soooo... it's a bit of a chore at times :D

Survival horror VNs with puzzles are my jam too! Would love to know what you think of the first game if you get a chance to check it out. It's very different to this one, but it is in the same vein.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment! Very much appreciated!

Oh. Uh... yeah... that's on me then. Damn my goldfish memory and attention span. Original post updated.

Um… wow…

That was AMAZING.

Going to try and write this as un-spoilery as I can. But for anyone seeing this wanting to go in blind, yeah, maybe stop reading now :D

Time loop stuff can be so tricky to get right, but oh man, this was borderline perfect. Keeping things simple initially and having lots of little variations to try out and build up the complexity gradually. Having the ‘correct’ path laid out for you so you have a sense of what to do but then that ending really only being the beginning. Having it so one discovery means you can do something else right from the start and change everything. And then working it all into an easy to understand ‘completion list’ so the player has a sense of what to work towards, AND doubling that ‘list’ into a story element… Sublime.

As the player I felt a lot of care was taken to guide me naturally through the experience, yet at the same time allow as much freedom as I wanted to explore. That is a super delicate and amazing balance to be able to achieve. Hats off to you for being able to do so.

This was all just so well conceived, crafted and executed. And considering it was all put together under jam conditions… I’m just in awe. So well done.

And that’s not even to mention how top notch the art, sound and writing all was. Just all so, so good!

Oh and the voice acting. Especially the delivery of the line “I show you truly. Look” ESPECIALLY the ‘Look’. So evocative! That really struck a chord with me.

I feel like I have to come up with at least SOME criticism to balance out all this gushing a bit. The only thing that really comes to mind is that the sprites were not *quite* up to the standard of the CGs. But that is basically nitpicking, and barely a criticism anyway considering what they are being compared to.

I got the ‘B’ ending. But am definitely going to dive back in and dig it all up. Such compelling stuff.

Huge congrats to the whole team on the amazing accomplishment here. Well freakin’ done!

I think pretty much everyone who has given me feedback has admitted to drinking the water. You all just can't help yourselves :D

I love me some classical music! Especially how copyright free it is :D But cheers!

Loved the title screen and the UI. A lot of care and consideration was poured into it and it shows! The mouse pointer is a really nice touch too.

So much world building going on too! It’s obvious this is just a tiny snippet of a story from the main epic. Definitely get a sense of something much grander happening.

The art is really great. Particularly (what I’m presuming is) Kyle’s art. Some real pro looking stuff there. I didn’t exactly love that the parents were just silhouettes. They seemed like main enough characters to warrant detailed sprites. But maybe this was intentional for a reason I didn’t pick up on. Or maybe it was a victim of time constraints. It didn’t hurt the experience too much. Just felt a little odd to me.

Music was really nice and fitting. Sound effects were great too.

The chase sequences were super effective with all the motion. But I really didn’t like the ‘trial and error’ nature of it. Personally I feel this approach kind of deflates all the tension and makes the sections a bit tedious and chore like. It might have been better if the player had 3 chances before dying and game over. Or maybe there was a visual cue to look out for that suggested which way was the right way to go. Also, on my laptop the framerate absolutely tanked during those scenes and it wasn’t actually obvious it was time based. So sometimes I was failing thinking I had gone the wrong way which led to a lot of confusion when retrying. Not that me playing on an older laptop is the game’s fault in any way.

Arrgh, sorry to focus so much on the complaint, I imagine you probably got a lot of feedback about that, and I don’t want to add to any negativity too much. It’s good that the ‘difficulty level’ option was implemented.

All in all, awesome effort by the team. Well done!

EDIT: I go on about the chase sequences a bit in this post, but 'yrea' in the replies has revealed that it was my fleeting attention span that mostly caused my grievances with them. For transparency, I won't delete what I wrote, but feel free to ignore all my criticism. And apologies if any of it was hurtful.

B rank hey? Let me guess... you drank the water? :D

It's really nice to see someone mentioning the RE references. I feel like they generally don't land with the broad VN demographic, so thankyou for confirming there is at least SOME crossover out there :D

I'm trying to get through as many fellow jammers games as I can. Got yours on the list.

Oh he's one of THOSE, huh? I see. Definitely ignore him then :D

Thanks for the offer and advice! I'll see how brave I'm feeling with the next project.
