Was the resolution a challenge?
Making a game in 64x64 was lots of fun, but it definitely has it’s challenges. The two main ones for me were - one, trying to make the art look good (like being able to understand what’s going on), and two, dealing with text in the game. I didn’t want to draw pixel art for all the text in the game, but loading it in dynamically also meant dealing with a more complex UI, which is increasingly more frustrating the lower the resolution.

What did you learn?
I learned how to handle a map in txt format and load images in using player orientation and that file. I was also able to practice my pixel art more and I think it turned out well!

Very very cool game. I played it thrice because I suspected that there were a few endings (I think I got all three of them, with the coin, knife, and the item near the guard which was a lovely surprise!). I absolutely loved the atmosphere. The sound and music were expertly done, and I really liked the flavor text picking up the few items in the game. Picking up the knife and seeing "this is probably a bad idea" gave me chills right off the bat.

I also liked that there's no map. At first I went around in circles, but the little direction widget in the top left + the memorable layout of the rooms actually helped me build up a map in my head, which always feels super rewarding.

The pseudo 3D graphics were also very well done. Awesome job!

Thank you for playing! Glad you liked the more of a surprise ending. The flavor text was largely inspired by Undertale.

I did think about creating a map but wanted to make the player map it out in their head. I’m happy that the layout was memorable enough.

I think we had a similar idea going in for our games! So it's very interesting to see the different routes we went :) 

I liked the moody atmosphere, it really scratched that classic dungeon crawler itch. The rooms mostly looked very similar, and the four directions made it very easy to get turned around (I accidentally wandered in circles for a couple minutes haha!) I think a small map in the corner, or adding small scenery pieces to the rooms, would've helped a lot in this regard! 

Also one room up from the hallway that has a door on either side (right near the start) the game froze/crashed on me, not sure if this a system issue or a replicable bug!

Loved it! I especially like the story, the ambiance, the pace of gameplay and the fact it has multiple endings. The only qualm I have is the fact that the font doesn't seem to comply to the 64x64 resolution (the pixels are "smaller" than everything else, Godot might've tricked you there). It might be a good idea to adjust the font size (I'm pretty sure the mods will allow it, but I'd ask first on Discord) if you're looking to get an appropriate rating on an otherwise flawless entry. Overall, awesome job, congratulations :)

Yay! I beat the game! That was pretty fun, and atmospheric.  I only collected 3 items so I think there is more to collect perhaps? I'll try to play again and see.

The ambiant sound is very nice and dark atmosphear fit very well to the dungeon, it was difficult to find my path i don”t have map, and your font for the UI don”t respect the 64x64 limitation, she is in high resolution. You have time to change that before the voting period !

Thank you for the feedback! You’re right about the text, it just didn’t register to me when I started making the game. I will look into seeing if I can force the font into a resolution at or lower than 64x64.

EDIT: The font would simply be too big if I tried matching it. Unfortunate, but I guess how things go sometimes. I would have to change a lot of the text system and do a lot more art to get it perfectly at 64x64, so I hope the font can be forgiven. Even if it is disqualified, I learned a lot and had fun.
