About Gaming Culture

How is your game meta (within each relevant category)?
Breaking the 4th wall: The game tries to break the 4th wall - literally. Goal of the game is keeping the yellow ball away from the screen.

About Gaming Culture: The game itself is an implementation of breakout, and therefore a clone of a game that has been cloned about a million times.

Great job on this! I really liked the ability to bounce the ball with a button.  It's nice to have a way to reset the gameplay loop, I did, however, abuse it pretty heavily!

Great work!

Really cute idea! Literally forth wall breaking! I like that the ball changes color to signify that its within range of attacking.

The phrasing button needs to placed out of the way of the action though as I had misclicked on it while trying to hit the ball. Also the sound FX volume could use some better adjustment as the screen cracking didn't really had that oomph factor, and the ball bouncing off the walls was just too quiet.

Thank you for your feedback! I really have to use more time for sound-work.  I am more of a graphics programmer, so it happens that the sound of everything i make could need a little more commitment.

This was a really cool twist. Very enjoyable.

Great take on breakout! I don't think I've ever seen a breakout game quite designed like this before, and it was a nice twist! And, can we PLEASE bring back phrasing?! :D :D :D

I included your game in my Meta Game Jam showcase video, check it out and enjoy <3

Thanks for the game and keep it up, cheers!🍻

Wow, I like your style of making youtube videos without many (spoken) words. Sometimes less talking talks more!

And thank you for showcasing my work! It's cool that you made it so far. Did not think that somebody really reaches Level 6 ^^

Aww, thanks! I agree ;)

This had me laughing out loud.

I can also see this becoming a full game, and I'd totally buy it.

Great idea!

Thank you for your feedback, that really means much to me. I always say if a game makes at least one person have fun, its worth making.  So: mission accomplished.

There will be some updates on the click-mechanics anywhere in the near future. For a full game it would need 100+ levels. We will see how many of those I can make before I am out of ideas. ;)

An interesting take on breakout, I could see this becoming a full game, but somehow it doesn't feel very responsive right now because with a small mouse its hard to hit the ball and you can't control where the ball goes like in the original games, I also beat a whole level without clicking :v

Actually you can control the balls direction, e.g. if you click it on the top right side, it will change direction to the bottom left. (Technically: the direction vector is changed to the vector from the clicking-point on the balls surface to the balls center).

But I definitely see what you are talking about. I did not figure out a way with a paddle that did not block to much of the view. Maybe I will add an arrow to the ball to show the direction if you click a certain point. I think there will be an update in near future.

Thank your for your feedback!

I see, maybe it would work better in a touch screen with the finger!

Developer

Well, it was initially designed as an Android game, but I did not figure out to optimise the graphic effects for mobile.
