help i can't beat the game what button am i suppoesd to press to self destruct?

jk lol. This game has really nice visuals! I also love the music with Jonas going, "Wowie!" in the background.

The game was pretty fun, but there were a couple of bugs here and there. Like when you place a wheel in a spot that you still can't go over and self-destructing doesn't remove that wheel making the level impossible to complete.

Thank you for playing, I wish you had a screenshot of the location you're talking about

A driving game, where you have to destroy your car to make a way for your next car.

I like this game because you only have 1 button that you can use 2 times for one car(the second press leads to an explosion). What i also like is that objects have different durability based on what they are doing(mostly for the wheels). Either they get deleted after the next selfdestruction or stay forever because they are connected with a holder.

what could be change is the visibility of these holders, because at first i didnt noticed why some objects dissapear and why others dont (but you will understand where objects stick fast enough if you look at where it is placed (in these branches) and you learn it by seeing it, not by being told what it does(which is always good)).

Its a good game!

Thank you for playing and for your great review!
We've already realized from other reviews that despawn rules ended up being too non-transparent, so we were looking for a way to improve them. Your idea with making the holders more visible is great, I think our best bet is to try that before changing the rules

Thanks!

Music was good, it's seem hard to me to pass through level with just a space.....Good physics game base !!!

This was a fun game to play :)

Nice 3d visuals and a smooth audio soundtrack. Also some nice polish and particle effects.

Liked the physics in the game that really added to the gameplay.

Enjoyed it and this was a job well done :)!

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

This game was really polished and fun. It was quite easy so players could get through the game without spending too much time, which is great for a jam game. Good job!

This is definitly one of the best games I've seen so far.
Amazing graphics, top-notch music and lots of love for small details (like the exhaust starting to burn when driving over fire)

WOWIE!

Cool monster truck. I like the way the suspension feels on it. Good job! :)

Nica game. I like the animation at the beginning.

I did it! Took my 13 minutes, nice touch to show this summary after the end :) The big ramp part was the hardest one for me, but I managed to get through :)

I'm really impressed that you managed to pull off a working, physics-based 3D game for a 72h game jam! I wish there was a category "tech", I'd rate your game 11 out of 10 in there!

I love the simplicity of controls :) It took me some time to learn the rules of destruction, but after I got a grasp of it the game was pure enjoyment :D Not much I can complain about, levels were well-thought, checkpoints were in just right intervals, the game was not too long and no too short for a game jam, visually it looks really solid - so yeah, basically, great job! I had a lot of fun :)

And yeah, music was the best xD

Hey there, finally I found the time to put your game through a test. It worked flawlessly under Linux. It took me some time to understand how you can use the car parts to help you proceed. Leaving the burning car was easy but I am still not sure when the wheels stick and when they disappear. It got a little bit monotonous and hard at times so I thought I could not pull through to the end. But: I did it, 17 something minutes if I remember correctly with 47 deaths. I don’t know if this is good, though. I like the game, especially as it is 3d and I still have to experiment with 3d games myself, so far I stick in the 2d space. Great to see what is possible with Godot.

I also like the music very much, especially the Wowie! All in all: a solid jam game.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the review, and yes, I agree about the non-obvious despawning rules and monotonous level design, we ran out of time so we just hastily assembled some platforms for the level :D
This is more or less our first 3D work in Godot, the transition from 2D was pretty smooth and everything worked nicely except for the browser build and of course is_instance_valid :)

Thanks for sharing this torture with me!) A physics car racing game where the point is to destruct yourself in order to get to the destination.
Which sounds fun, you can either detach your parts to fly straight to the finish line or in other places keep them as objects to drive on and get over obstacles.

Makes sense right? Except it's not! After you destruct the parts of your car, they disappear. Unless you detach them in a VERY SPECIFIC place that the devs programmed it to not disappear.

But that just applies to the wheels, the car itself has entirely different behavior. The exploded car will disappear each time you explode your car again. Which just makes the entire play confusing.
I would guess it was made to decrease the chance of the player ruining his own game and not be able to progress at some point, which is understandable. You don't want the player to be stuck because of stacks of car parts on the map.

Nonetheless, it was still a bit frustrating) But fun anyway.
With all of that in mind, I managed to beat the game. I think we're even now ;)
Here's my gameplay, so you experience the struggle with me :D

Yep all your assumptions are correct and I agree the despawning rules ended up being too complicated

I don't see how this is even close to your game though, I'm downloading it right now to try out the non-browser version

P.S. I like how your video includes removing the game folder in the end :D

Thanks for replying! I think you should wait for the patch tho, there's a bunch of stuff that I plan to fix and tweak, I believe I'll publish a patch today!

Developer(+1)

Alright, in that case I'll wait for the patch and thanks for playing our game!

I have patched a 1.1 version in the windows build! Lot's of small fixes and improvements, though the controls remain the same for now. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it work properly on web, it breaks the controls really bad for some reason :P And thank you for playing our game :)

Wow, using truck destruction to progress, really fascinating idea. Loved the mechanics and flow of the game. I reached the first flag but the spikes path to second flag was a bit too hard for me, tried 4-5 times but couldn't go fwd beyond it. Really well made game for the jam, you can add a Speed booster of some type at some spots so player can boost a jump if its getting a bit hard. Other than that it was a really fantastic game, Car design and dismantaling was really well done! Good luck for the jam :) I'll follow you to stay tuned for your games.

Developer

Thank you for playing! you're supposed to stick some wheel axles on top of the spikes to drive across them, but as we've figured out from other comments it is indeed not very obvious, so it's our fault it's too hard

I really like the boost idea and I've also followed you

nice and simple well done. great for your first jam.
