Nice job on this game! Really taught me a lot about bugs. There was a lot of polish, the sounds felt good, and the blocks snapped into place, really added to the computer vibes.

This game had a creative premise and also an interestingly designed UI. Gameplay-wise I think it has a lot of potential, but this version of the game seems to never really gets started. The levels are too easy and don't have much variety, but serve as a great introduction to the possibilities these mechanics can lead to.

I appreciate that the tutorial took things step by step, but it felt slow and by a certain point I just wanted to get to playing the game. The first few were levels were unnecessary, because I had already figured out the basics by fumbling my way through the main menu (which I have mixed feelings about, because its really creative and matches the controls of the game, but for someone who just started it up there was no indication about how to get things to work).

Bob is a cute character, but when he showed up I was annoyed because I had just finished the tutorial, played one level, and was already locked into reading more expository text.

I think the game's weakest point is also where it is most unique. The visual design is thematic and creates the "buggy computer" atmosphere, but the

  1.  Grain effect
  2. Scrolling horizontal line
  3. Zoom-in effect cutting off the corners of the screen
  4. Strange font

all combined made it very difficult to read and look at. I think a cleaner UI could still convey the game's setting without being so hard on the eyes.

The sound effects were great, and I liked the background music. Good job!

There were a few typos, but nothing major.

My favorite level was when I had to cross the wall of red triangles to touch the goal. I would be interested in playing an expanded version of this game where each level has a challenge like this that requires bugging the game in a strategic way, instead of mindlessly moving the commands to different controls until I have done every bugged combination.

Nice concept, feels like it would have been a perfect entry for the last year jam, but I can kinda see how it works for current topic too

Good work!

Unfortunately I could not play it on the laptop that I currently have available. The game doesn't seem to scale properly down to 1366x768 so it's not possible to start. It looks interesting though, I will give it a try again, when I am at a larger screen on Monday.

i think that this could have been a better fit for the last year jam than this one, but heh, who am i to complain when it works?? Or rather don't because i've bugger everything xD

The concept is really unique, as i've mentioned before, and the game it's simple but fun!! Good Job!!

Interesting concept, I must say it was really hard for me to understand the concept at first. I'm not big fan of the "grain shader effect", but maybe it was just a bit too much. Overall good job!

Great concept amazing execution well done :D It was fun trying to find all of the bugs. The tutorial is top notch you usualy dont see such high quality tutorials in a game jam. The only thing that "bugs" me is the post processing it hurt my eyes you should tone it down. Over all it was fun to play great work :D

Cool concept :)!

Fun to play.

Visuals were nice but sometimes a bit too hard for my eyes.

Overall good job!

Nice, I really like the concept :)

Such a cool game with a nice idea. The only thing I’d do is to lower the intensity of the chromatic abberation. It’s a bit overdone. I really like how you learn the main mechanic in the tutorial. Good job! Could you play and rate my game too?

Developer

Thank you for your feedback i should have dialed down the effects.

I would rate your game, but i already rated and commented it.

Haha, I read your comment. I think it was a reflex to write this at the end :-)

I think it's broken, can't press the Play button :/
Perhaps the control elements aren't anchored to the screen properly so the label covers it. Could also be fixed if the game was windowed.
Well, I guess it's Bug Simulator after all :/

Developer (2 edits)

If you mean the play button in the menu then it isnt broken, I just tried to show the mechanic in the menu, so you know how to play it!

a windowed version could be good to but for that i have to learn how to change resolutions so it doesnt mess up the UI.

Submitted

no i meant on the top. where stop and the arrow are. It worked after I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Left but I don't wanna play the game sideways...

Developer (1 edit)

the top buttons are for the scripts, to stop or start the script (whats in the "On Start" e.t.c) and next level

curious, what does Ctrl + Alt + Left Do?

Edit: Do you mean the buttons were unclickable or that it didnt start the level?

Submitted

They're unclickable.
The control elements aren't anchored to the screen properly.
So the label covers it.
And handles mouse input before the button.

Developer (1 edit)

I dont really know why it is like this.

if i had to guess is because it is already playing and you have to stop the script with the left button next to the play button and then put the start script in the function.

otherwise im clueless why it doesnt work...

Submitted

Come on. I wrote down the problem.

Developer

Ok, im sorry that the game didnt work. next time i try to anchor the ui to the right position

Nice Idea pretty unique could have been an entry for last years Jam :P

Shader and Text looked cool on the screenshots but boy oh boy were they enoying during playing ;-)

Developer

Yeah, but i missed the gamejam.

I probably should have turned down the effects a little...... or the font..... or both.

Submitted(+1)

My only grievance is that the visual effect got a little tiresome for my eyes, but it might aswell be old age ;)

Otherwise a good game! Fun and challenging and interesting!

Great game that this very polished, and I had a lot of fun, well done :)

Submitted(+1)

Fun, creative and unique game! Good job

Submitted(+1)

It's a very interesting game, but the white bars going down the screen a little distracting. Perhaps make them a bit more transparent?

Submitted(+1)

It's fun, Great job there!

It's missing a thing tho, a feedback like some sort of error command logs when the bugs occur, that could be a nice touch.

Developer

I tried to give Player Feedback with a text animation, but a error command log sounds more fun than a simple animation.

This is a really cool concept, and the visuals really help sell the idea. I don't know how you got all that cool functionality working in such a short amount of time, props! I enjoyed it a ton

Submitted(+1)

nice game, the only thing I would change is font, somehow i have problem reading it. But idea and visuals are great

Your game is really fun and looks good. I had a few troubles at first, but got the hang of it quickly. It was a good idea to introduce the drag and drop part in the title menu. Really nice.^^
